  1. Ok, I understand. I don't think it was the "worst ever." It was definitely confounding, though, to see Taylor in the shotgun for 5 or 6 straight plays.
  2. DaveH, you said this in the "trick play" topic: "I don't think we were that predictable, although I was wondering why we didn't get back to the run that much after we got down by a few scores." EXACTLY! That's what I'm saying. Then, receivers would have gotten open. Thus, balance.
  3. You're oversimplifying our criticism. NU's offense is predicated on balance. I thought that our offense was predicated on what the defense gave us. And OU's defense didn't give us very much. Sure. But they weren't exactly giving us the pass. Sure, Taylor missed a few receivers, but I didn't see enough wide-ass open receivers to really shrug this off as an "off night" for Taylor. Nobody was open, and for the most part, Taylor had very little space in which to put the ball. Wouldn't it make sense that in order to make Taylor's passes easier, we needed to utilize our running backs? We passed, passed, passed, and then when that didn't work we were in 3rd and long. Our most successful drives were when we got 3 and 4 yards on first down by letting Jackson ride the O line and "get what the defense would give us." I'm no coach, and I don't claim to be an expert. But don't you need to keep a wide open playbook with the WCO? Isn't that it's biggest strength? I'm not really complaining, or being a "troll." I thought the effort on offense could have been a bit better at the skill positions, but it seemed like the offensive line played pretty well against a scary Oklahoma defense. I really didn't see very many open receivers all game, and I wish the play calling could have done more to help them out.

  5. I am very excited to play an SEC team. I have always wanted a shot at Auburn, in particular. After all the pouting that Tuberville has done this year, it would be nice to show them that the Big XII is a tough conference as well.
  6. It seemed like we were going to really run all over them on our second possession. It hurt having BJax out in the second half, but I would like to think we would have had much more success if we had thrown in at least a few toss plays to Lucky, instead of throwing 5 or 6 consecutive times and then punting.
  7. Most of the Sooner fans I saw last night were OK, and just cheered their positive plays and high-fived each other. But there were two goons in front of me that were bad enough to spoil the second half for me. One of the guys wanted to fight me before I left. Huskers aren't that bad, even when we lose. That's my main gripe. Now I'm done talking sh#t about Oklahoma fans. On with the Cotton bowl. We should have brought a bunch of cotton to throw on the field in the 4th quarter. That would have nearly saved the night.
  8. EXACTLY MY EXPERIENCE! SOME DUDE WHO WAS 20 YEARS OLDER THAN ME WANTED TO FIGHT ME!!!!
  9. You're right, which is why it's so sad that we can feel so justified in calling them hillbillies. I met a very nice lady on the bus to Arrowhead last night. She was an OU grad living in Overland Park, and was taking her son to the game. Very friendly, very classy. I work with a guy who grew up in Oklahoma, and he's one of the nicest people I know. But they represent the minority of Oklahomans I have met. NU fans can be a-holes, too, for sure. But I have never seen Nebraska fans act the way some of the Oklahoma fans were acting last night. We are much more gracious when we win. OU people were turning around and mocking NU faithful after every big play in my section.
  10. That was an amazing pick. I saw the pass and was like "Touchdown!!!" and that guy came out of nowhere for that ball. It's so painful to see it in slo-mo. It hurts so much. Definitely a great play, and it definitely killed a lot of our hope. I hesitate to say "momentum," because we only had momentum for about 2 minutes in the 2nd quarter. I'd actually say the play of the game was Purify's fumble. When you spot your opponent 7 points in the first minute of the game, you usually don't win. That really took the crowd out of it, and basically neutralized the field of play even though the stadium was 75% in NU's control.
  11. I was sitting in row 29 in the south stadium, right on the 15 yard line. I got a much-too-close view of that fumble, and right when it happened, my stomach sank down to my testicles.
  12. I respect Oklahoma's program and players, especially after this season. It's just unfortunate that I meet one nice Sooner for every 3 or 4 Sooners that want to fight me.
  13. Zac Taylor isn't Vince Young. He can't put a team on his back and win, because he isn't mobile enough. He's the definition of a "system QB." When his line gives him protection, and when the offense is clicking, he puts the ball in the right spot, and keeps the rest of the players calm. We were too one-dimensional to beat a more athletic team last night, plain and simple. I'm not sure why we pulled out such a bizarro, pass-centric offense last night, but it was definitely disappointing to see us abandon the run after we got down by two touchdowns in the first half. Have we ever been able to sustain drives by passing, unless we were in the 2 minute drill? Not that I can recall. I think we put too much pressure on ZT last night. Dude has all the heart you can expect from a 23 year old, and he had an AWESOME season. He was trying to make a play every down, but unfortunately when your receivers are all covered and you're down by 14 points with diminishing time, things really start working against you. And this Boomer Sooner guy is really a mouth breather.
  14. The thread starter's intentions were to rub it in. I like how he calls our players underrated and then says, "hayyy don't hate dudezz, I've got nuthing but respek for Nebraskers@!!!!" Just like the boisterous :asshat from OU that sat in front of me at the game last night, who threatened to "punch a hole in" me after I called him "Billy Bob" and said that I was just happy "that my family tree had at least branched in the last fifty years." Dude had been talking sh#t to NU fans leaving the game the entire 4th quarter, and then wondered why I called him out. Basically, if the last 8 OU fans I've had interaction with are indicative of the overall class and values of Sooner nation, Oklahomans are fat, ugly, arrogant, childish half-wits that probably beat their wives when OU loses and rejoice when an opposing player gets injured (see previously mentioned :asshat at the game last night). Boomer incest.
  15. This is my first post. I went to NU and live in the KC area. I like how everybody on this board expresses themselves almost exclusively with emoticons and acronyms. GBR!!!!!! Go 'Skers!
