  1. Ok I think a couple of you misunderstood what I was getting at. Make no mistake, I am jacked about this committment. I think he is more than likely the second or third best qb in the nation (Pryor is a freak). I was just asking more or less what everyone else thought would happen. I love Cally, and love the committment of Gabbert, and there is no way in hell I would want the midget back to coach us. This is shaping up to be one of the best classes in the nation. Brown would be one hell of a get, and I think fisher is close to committing. As of right now we have two possible five stars and four possible four stars (Okafor was put on the AA watch list so if he does well that would bump him up). Futures looking mighty bright!

  2. I am still worried that the outcome wont be ideal. If Gabbert is as good as I think he is then he will seriously push for the starting job as a redshirt freshman or sophmore. If he gets it that means that Lee and Witt will have to sit behind someone younger than them. I dont think they will stick around to watch that. If Witt does end up being the quarterback coaches are saying he is going to be and redshirts this year, and wins the starting job, that means that Gabbert will have to sit for four years, which I dont think he will end up staying. This is freakin awesome news and I am ecstatic about him committing, just some thoughts I have. I think this guy is going to be great.

  3. Ya but Culbert will probably go back to defense, depending on the year Lucky has he might go pro after this year, Glenn has durability issues, and Castille is a big back who really hasnt proven anything yet (but I think he will). Mendoza will be a good back in a couple of years IMO, but still needs some time. This would be a good get.

  4. I was just reading on rivals and they were saying how this kid is possibly the best jc running back in the nation. I was just wondering if anyone had any info on him. How many years he has to play, stuff like that.

  5. Ya I really think he ends up at Alabama, which is fine with me if he chooses not to come to NU. I do think the whole new system being put in is a big draw and the fact that Saban told him that it would be an open competition was a big plus in his mind. Gary Pinkel sucks and you would think that he realizes either Bama, or NU would be a better place for his future. Both NU and Bama have pro coaches who know how to get kids to the next level. NU has a TON of young talented receivers and o-linemen, but Saban will really put together good classes for a long time. I really think it comes down to the fact that we have a really good freshman and a really good soph. I dont even know what Bama has but I would think its not that. I also think it is going to come down to Bama and NU, Iowa isnt worth talking about, theyre overrated every year.

  6. I think it all just depends on how a lot of the other people develop. If Hagg develops well at one safety spot and Helu gets moved to linebacker then he might just stay at safety. If Blue ends up moving to safety and Helu moves to safety then he will probably move to linebacker. It would also help to keep him at safety in order to tell Mr. Arthur Brown that we only have three returning linebackers on scholorship. I say he is going to be one hell of a safety though, I have been saying all along, he is in the same mold as Taylor Mays. I am not saying he is as good, but 6'3 210 lbs compared to 6'4 225 lbs for Mays-looks good to me.

  7. Ya and if he and his brother want to play together then we should be in Arthurs ear telling him how they have 5 five star running backs, and 2 four star backs none of them older then a sophmore. They also have about 6 linebackers all of whom are 4 star or higher coming back when he is going to be in college. The same goes for Oklahoma, just not as many of high quality players. They do have two proabable five star running backs out of this class, maybe four star, and one already on campus that was a four star coming out of high school. Castille will be a force in my opinion, however I think Helu moves positions and Mendoza is more of a situational back. I dont know much about Okafor, however I would think both Browns would look at Nebraska and say that it is not far away, it is a big time program on a major rise, and they would both play if not start very early in their careers.

  8. I was reading an article on rivals about Gabbart and Crabtree was saying how Gabbart is not going to do interviews for a while and that he just wants to concentrate on his decision without any interuptions. He said that he is aware of the outstanding o-line class we have coming in and that is a huge reason why we have jumped up the charts for him. He also said that Nebraska is very much in the picture for him. Crabtree was also asked if this guy was going to be a high four star recruit and his response was "he is going to be a five star, he is the real deal". That is freakin great news! Could this possibly be the first five star quarterback nebraska has ever got since ratings were available? If he does come here can he be the starter by his soph. year? If so does that make Witt or Lee transfer? Do you guys think he would transfer if he doesnt start by his sophmore or junior seasons?

  9. Ya that is still pretty good, and considering the weather forcast changed about 20 times throughout the week that is really good. I heard low 40's, snow, mid 50's, rain, high 60's so I dont think anyone knew what to expect. Plus it was on tv later that night, so I am sure a lot of people had the mind set of if I can make it then I'll go but if not then it is on tv later. That is still a ton of people to watch nebraska play nebraska C and D teams.

  10. Ya I would say that Lucky and Turner are pretty close to who I would pick as well. Lucky bc of his versatility and knowledge of the offense and being able to recognize blitzes. Turner if nothing else bc we dont have anyone behind him. I believe that Octavian and possibly Yancy will do a good job in taking a couple of blows for him next year, but the strong majority of the reps will go to Turner and after him there is a HUGE drop off, although I am waiting to see what Yancy can do. If not Turner, then someone like Suh bc he is a freakin FORCE in the middle that will demand a double team almost every time, I believe.

  11. Just read on rivals that Lucky had his MRI and he is fine. Just a very minor strain, the same with Murtha. Callahan said they are both just a little sore but they will both be fully ready to go come fall. Great news!!!

  12. In the Omaha World Herald they were talking about how Busch expects Wilson, Green, Asante, and Thenarse to know both the safety spots, so it appears the possibility for Asante and Thenarse to be on the field at the same time is still there. Thenarse was a freakin animal on Saturday and if you have the chance to read the OWH and see what Asante said about one hit in particular that will speak for itself.

  13. I do think a lot of people are forgetting about the fact that we will have him come fall, along with Ryan Hill. Everyone keeps talking about how good our receivers unit is well just wait until we get a real threat at tight end and then see how good this offense can be. Right now we have Mueller, who is big and can catch but cant stretch the defense, and the same with Phillips and all the others that are playing in the spring. Mcneil and Hill both have good speed and are "receiving" tight ends. I cant wait to see in the fall when all the pieces are put together. Also on a side note I am really excited about Yancy and Washington as far as incoming recruits in the fall, and of course Castille.

  14. I really dont think anyone was saying someone else would beat him out. I think the only person who is playing the open end is seivers and I am pretty sure that everyone knows he is going to beat seivers out. More than likely the only reason people are talking about all the other guys is bc its spring and people just like seeing development. I really hope the starting d-line and second string is:

    base:steinkhuler/allen

    nose:suh/johnson

    dt:barfield/dixon or townsend

    open:turner/yancy

  15. Well I really dont think that Helu, Mendoza, Castille and Amuakamura will all be getting time in games this year. I really dont even think Amakamura will be playing running back at NU. Lucky isnt hurt and Glenn will be at full strength by the time fall camp comes around along with Mendoza gaining a better grasp of the offfense and Castille coming in, I think we will be just fine. I think they will give Castille a group of plays and tell him to memorize those. That will give us four capable backs and two good ones in Lucky and Glenn. I also think this is the year where Lucky shows why he was the second rated back coming out of high school. Reports are that he has developed new moves in the second and third levels, allowing him to break longer runs. I think this year Lucky will average 150 total ypg, just my opinion.

  16. Ya I would just like to know that they are at least considering it. If it doesnt work out then it doesnt work out, but I would at least like to have the piece of mind to know that they are trying to get the best guys on the field no matter what. I would hate to think that they would let Green start juts bc he has for two years and is an extremely hard worker. I love to hear about how hard he works but if there is someone else better they should play, bottom line. You cant tell me that Asante cant at least learn the free safety position. It is spring and he didnt even play safety in college from what I remember so its not like he is set in stone to learn this one position, they have moved green four times so why not move Asante to another position to better the defense? Once again I am not saying that it would without a doubt be the better move, but from what I have heard and just physical attributes I would say it is worth a shot.

  17. Did the question ever get answered if it is possible we will see Asante and Thenarse on the field at the same time in the safety positions? I would really love to see that, which would enable Washington to play a backup role at one of those positions, and still have two years to start with a redshirt, along with maybe moving Corey Young back there and letting him RS a year to get some differentiation. Its also possible that Eric Hagg will be playing safety which all of those guys are young and talented, just a thought.

  18. and with ryan hill and mike mcneil we do have two pretty good tight ends. From what I hear Mcneil is going to be really good and if Ryan Hill doesnt go pro for baseball I think he will be pretty good as well. Of course they arent going to be like Grashem or someone like that, but you never know and IMO they will still be a good threat.

  19. If that is the case I just dont understand how Erickson could get on the field. You cant tell me that there isnt a better guy for the job than him. If he is just in there for blocking then there has to be a better blocker and he cant be in there for receiving.

  20. Ya I also think that he has already had his attitude adjustement. From what I have heard he has dedicated himself to the weight room and was really tearing it up on the scout team last year with keller and henry. The main thing I am saying is the x's are supposed to be our big bodied receivers and I think he is probably about 6'2 200 lbs. Thats not really all that big, especially when hes being compared to henry 6'5, holt 6'3-6'4, pederson 6'4, and purify 6'4. Paul is about the same size and has a little better speed, so are they going to put Paul with all the other x's or let him take the other receiver position and if so what are the reasons? He has comparable size and speed, so what is the difference? I just want all these guys to play or at least be given a better shot then where all of our "talented" receivers are all fighting for the same spot, then there are about two other receivers in on one rotation at the other receiver spot, it just doesnt make sense to me.

  21. Ya our safety play was a HUGE part of the problem last year. Just getting Shanle out of there alone will make our secondary that much better, and fill in Asante or Thenarse and that is five times better. Something I dont understand is why Thenarse got moved to safety this year. Last year we had a former 8 man high school all star playing and they keep him at corner. I realize they needed him there for depth issues, but wouldnt it now make sense to move him back to corner?
