  1. I dont know if anyone has seen them but on rivals they have two new videos posted of him and WOW!! This kid has the ability to play a big role this coming year, especially with the way our backfield is banged up right now. He has very good speed for someone his size. He was outrunning db's to the end zone repeatedly. He has tremendous power, vision and balance. His body control is fantastic, there were times where he was jumping and doing flips, and also showing a very nice spin move here and there. There was one play where a defender tries to take him head on and their two helmets collided right against each other and its obvious who one. The defender literally just got flattened, and it looked Castille didnt even feel it. When Callahan said he looks like he is 215 he wasnt lying, this guy runs like he weighs around there. This guy is just a freak of nature.

  2. I think we will be fine. The loss of Bowman makes me pretty mad but we still have three maybe four very able corners. Plus it is still april pretty much, which means there is a ton of time before the season starts. Best case is Bowman makes it back before the season opener, worst case he makes it back before the missou game. HE WILL BE BACK EITHER WAY. He might not be at full strength, however it still makes a big difference to have a 6'2 corner in there even at 80%. If nothing else it gives Thenarse some needed experience for next year. We are fine, but yes it sure does suck!!

  3. I understand that the x receivers are supposed to be the bigger receivers but it seems to me that most of there more talented receivers are log jammed at that position. Purify, Pederson, Swift, Holt, Henry, and Brooks are all at that position and only Nunn, Hardy, and maybe Erickson are at the other receiver spot. Both Nunn and Hardy are seniors, I wouldnt mind seeing Brooks moved over. Paul is a bigger receiver as well so does that mean that he will be put in the x category as well? They say that they want the faster receivers at z or whatever, but I think Brooks runs a 4.5 or 4.4 or something like that. I am just trying to figure out ways to get all of them some more playing time and right now with both holt and brooks sophmores it seems one of them is going to get less playing time when it doesnt seem necessary. At least there is some difference in years for holt and henry.

  4. This sucks dont get me wrong, but it is not the end of the world. I think they will move Thenarse back to corner now that we have Asante back there. That will give us four very able bodies there. However for the first few games maybe, we will not have a true number one corner. We wont have that true shut down corner. I am really hoping he is able to play for the usc game bc without him I dont think we can stop all of their big receivers. But on the bright side Jones has another year and offseason under his belt and will be a lot better IMO, we added Murillo who will be a lot better come fall, Thenarse has added probably 15 pounds of muscle and has a better understanding of the game, and Grixby is still not bad. Worst case, Bowman will be back just in time for our long, tough stretch. It sucks, but he will be back, maybe in time for the start of the season, who knows?

  5. Skers how in the world can you make that kind of judgement based on being at three schools? Have you heard stories? Have you seen him work out in the offseason? Have you spoken with him? If not then you have no business saying things like that. If you didnt read the story then maybe you should before you make a judgement about someone like that. He is having problems within his family and his grandparents thought it would be best for him to go to MS, they live close to that school and he is going to be living with them for a while. They spoke with Bill Callahan and explained their story to him and they still want him so I am sure if it was something over the top they would have told him they arent interested like they did Grixby. I dont know him personally and I have only seen him play three times, and every time he dominated. Your initial snap judgement of someone without knowing obviously any of the story is pathetic.

  6. You have got to be kidding me!!! I swear if this causes him to miss one game I am going to freak out!! You would think they have some sort of idea, at least Bowman would as to how it feels compared to last year. This is going to hurt if it is serious, although it wouldnt be as bad as last year. They would probably move Thenarse back to corner so they can have four corners.

  7. Ok so I was sitting in class today thinking about the team and it just kinda hit me how many young, athletic guys we have:

WR: Holt (So.) Henry (RFr.) Brooks (RSo.) Paul (Fr.) Gilleylan (Fr.)

    TE: Mcneil (RFr.) Hill (Fr.)

OL: Jones (RFr.) Williams (RFr.) Barret (RFr.) Burkes (Fr.) Jones (Fr.) Hickman (RSo.) Steinkhuler (HS) Hoch (HS)

    QB: Lee (So.) Witt (Fr.)

RB: Castille (Fr.) Helu (Fr.) Mendoza (Fr.) Okafor (HS)

DL: Yancy (Fr.) Jensen (RFr.) Allen (RFr.) Davis (Fr.) Suh(RSo.) Crick (Fr.) Townsend (So.) Moore (Fr.)

LB: Dillard (RSo.) Lawrence (Fr.) Stafford (Fr.)

DB: Asante (RSo.) Thenarse (So.) Culbert (So.) West (RFr.) Young (So.) Washington (Fr.) Blue (Fr.) Sullivan (Fr.) Hagg (Fr.) Prince (Fr.)

There are some freakin very good athletes in there and none of them are over sophmores. The thing I like the most is there are 8 very talented linemen in this group and all but one of them is either a freshman or is still in high school. Just bored and thought it was encouraging and interesting.

  8. Ummm, I dont even know what to say to that. I hope that was a joke, a freshman comes in here and does a good job at knowing the playbook, for an incoming freshman, and all the sudden he is beating out a guy that is supposedly pushing Keller for the starting job? I think Shawn Sullivan is going to beat out Andre Jones for the top backup spot behind Bowman.

  9. I was reading an article on rivals today and it was talking about Culbert and how he was doing pretty well at running back, but Callahan said that he doesnt want to hinder his potential as a strong safety. That makes Culbert, Thenarse, and Asante playing the same position. Why dont they switch one of them to free safety? Either Asante and Culbert, or Asante and Thenarse, or move Thenarse to corner, something to get all of these guys on the field at the same time. I have nothing against West being at free safety bc I know nothing about him, and Green will probably be a pretty good free safety this year, however I have seen Culbert and Thenarse play and if everything is accurate about Asante then he has to be on the field, along with the other two. If they all continue to play the same position for the next three years one maybe two of them will transfer. Cos or whoever decides their position has to find a way to get them all on the field!

  10. Ya that is pretty freakin crazy. It is a freakin plastic cup and she shouldnt have stolen his parking spot! For all anyone else knows he was having the worst day to start with and was late for something and reacted in a way that I would be willing to bet most people on here have reacted. Not all of us have thrown a cup but I am sure we have all done something that was brought on by stress.

  11. Ok IMO the reason he was open was more than likely bc of Callahans play call. Second, I agree a lot of teams do have a possession receiver, not three of them. If you guys are saying that Erickson, Swift, and Pederson should all play thats exactly what we would have. I think that Swift should play, he has proven he can go up and make the catch in traffic, over people, go deep, and block (I believe he was the one who sprung Jackson loose on the shovel pass against Texas). However he is more on the possession type receiver side, which makes me say I would rather have a game breaker in there along with purify. Nunn, Henry, Paul, Holt, Hardy, and Brooks all have that (speed). For example, in the usc game pederson got loose down the left side, wide open bc of the play calls both offense and defense, the play just fell into place. He got caught from behind with about a ten yard head start even catching the ball on the run. If it were me I would rather have someone like Henry, Purify, Brooks, Holt, Hardy or Nunn in there and that would have more than likely gone for at least 30 more yards if not taken all the way. Thats the difference bt where we were and where we will be with big time receivers in there, Pederson is not a big time receiver.

  12. Lawrence Pete is his uncle and he lives in Omaha. He was a defensive lineman during the mid 80s. Brown said that Nebraska has carved a good impression in him and we by far have the best facilities he has ever seen, he has been to Oklahoma, and he said that the coaches genuinley care about where he goes and his choice. He said he really likes the coaches and Callahan really seems to be an x's and o's guy. He is also aware of the fact that we grad. our top four linebackers and he said that if he came here he knows that he would have a good shot at starting as a freshman.

  13. I just got done reading an article on rivals and it said "yesterday" he had a four hour unofficial visit and he was accompanied by his uncle who was also a husker great. This is great to see bc I think it was posted that he is supposed to be on hand for the spring game. That is two visits before summer and he would probably take another official visit during the season. Plus him seeing that we have 60,000+ show up for a freakin scrimmage would let him know that we love our football here. I think this would be by far our biggest get of the recruiting season, other than the ones we have now, bc I think those are three good ones. This would be HUGE though.

  14. So I just got done listening to Kellers after practice audio and wow, it got me ten times more excited for the season to start. He was saying how he felt really good at how the practice went and it was up tempo and very professional. He said he thought he did decent but has a long way to go and he is going to go watch film right after practice then be back to watch film at 630 a.m. He also said he spent two hours last night reading and learning the plays. This guy is a leader and a gym rat. He talked about how Lucky, Glenn, and Mendoza all looked good and how we have really good players at every position now its his responsibility to get them the ball. This guy has confidence on top of confidence (not cocky) This guy IMO is going to be all big 12 and mentioned among the heisman candidates.

  15. Hahaha ummm I really doubt that the problem, if there is one, is a lack of talent. Height IS the problem, coaches say that he has the best technique out of the corners, and he obviously has a lot of heart. The ONLY problem is his height.

  16. I am sure him and his brother would love to play college ball together, so the coaches need to get in his ear about how USC has about 6 top notch running backs and we have two freshmen and one incoming freshman to compete with. Not to mention usc will probably take at least one top notch running back this year. Just a thought, we need to do everything we can do to get this guy. He might start from day one if he comes here.

  17. Ya I agree that everyone will know who the starter is way before the season and maybe even after spring ball is done. The "starter" will get about 60% of the snaps and the backup will get about 30% and then whoever the third string is will get about 10%, that is just my opinion and the percentages might be a little off, but my point is they will all know who is number one by the amount of reps each is getting.

  18. Ok so when is practice tom.? Also I dont think Green is that bad, he showed some hitting ability and obviously has very good speed. I think with the departure of Shanle that alone will make our secondary twice as good as last year. However I agree I wish that we could get Thenarse on the field at the same time as Asante. I sure hope they are putting him there just to give us some depth behind Asante this year with the number of solid corners we have this year, bc if he doesnt get moved back to corner in 08 that would more than likely give us starters of Murillo and Young. I would much rather have Thenarse and Murillo at the corners and Asante and Culbert at the safetys. That would be ideal to me but I'll take the coaches word for it.

  19. Its obvious this kid can hit, however he can hit on the high school level. Its also obvious that he comes in WAY to high when trying to deliver a blow and in college he could get hurt tackling the way he does. He does have good speed for a linebacker and obviously loves contact, I am really looking forward to what this kid can do. It is also going to be interesting where they put all the players. Where will Culbert, Helu, Washington, Hagg and Prince all end up? There are so many mix and match type packages that they could have.

  20. I would really like to see what he can do as a safety. I think he has that take your head off mentality which I love to see in everyone but especially safetys. He has good size and above average speed. The coaches obviously know what they are doing but I just would have thought that they would have moved Young to safety instead of West since they were pretty excited about him before he went down last year. That might just be for the spring however and may be changed come fall when the other recruits come in. I am still excited to see what Stafford, Lawrence, Yancy and Washington can do mainly out of the newcomers. In the OWH they had an article about the huskers and said reports from winter conditioning is that "Asante put on quite a show." He is going to be a beast.
