  1. I remember my Dad, he's gone now, had a "Tom Osborne Fan Club" bumper sticker on his Buick - back in the day when fans were going after Tom. He left that sign on his car for many, many years, I think he was very proud of Tom and the class he brought to the University. Class used to matter.

My Dad would never sport a bumper sticker supporting Bo. Dad would have just been sick after the Iowa game.

Dad played for the University a long time ago in a different time...........

  2. A friend sent me this. Probably the dumbest thing ever, but I laughed.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7St6ATGnR4

    Have you seen this one?

Oh ya, I remember that one. All time classic.

Seems to me that Taylor really made improvements to his passing technique ONLY AFTER he got outside coaching help. With the raw ability that kid showed us as a freshman, it is too bad we couldn't internally develop those abilities to reach his potential. It's a real shame.

  3. Are people not realizing how expensive it's going to be to buy out his contract?? I'd like to see him gone as much as anyone else, just don't see it happening this year.

$7.5MM buyout versus 1.856MM Nebraskans = $4.04 dollars per Nebraskan. Isn't $4.04 worth the continuing damage being done to the personal self worth of each and every 1.856MM Nebraskans?

  4. injuries are part of every season...Bo has lots of other issues.

We have an unusual amount of injuries this season.

But how many can you truthfully blame it on S&C

Roll a 120-lb. skinny kid out there and see how he fares. Then you'll have your answer.

Remember the 70's - 80's & 90's - The decades of "Better Bodies Though Chemistry?" A 6'3" 185 pound defensive end comes in as a freshman and is a 6'3" 245 pound monster the next year.........bigger, better, faster.....

  5. Class does matter.

It's irrelevant to modern college football, honestly. I'm sick of Nebraska having to be "the class acts of football". Doesn't work anymore.

Could care less about wins if we didn't have class.

You Sir, are welcome to share my home and big screen TV any time you wish. The fans at Nebraska are tough, you gotta win with class or it really doesn't matter. I'm very proud of that attitude. We need to find somebody who can walk that walk.

    *sigh*

Look, you guys are right, class does matter, I'm just sick of seeing the team I love embarrassed. I think they deserve better than that. I hate losing more than anything on Earth.

I cannot disagree with this comment in any way. I think the $7MM+ buyout is more than worth the continued damage being done to the personal self-worth of all the fans (and players) who live and die Nebraska football.

  7. Yeah, who cares. If he wins games, it doesn't matter.

You are totally wrong. Nebraska has a history of winning with class. You should be a Miami fan. This stuff is hurting NU's recruiting for many years to come. If you are the Mom or Dad of a 5 star player looking for a ride, would Bo's performance today make you comfortable with agreeing to or even "allowing" your kid to go to Nebraska?

  8. It's comments like this that bring situations to a head. Pelini is good enough on his own in creating a thin skinned, toxic, us-vs.-everyone atmosphere around the program. You don't have a good relationship with the fans, Beck?

Well, I got news: When you stop needing miracles to beat teams like 7-loss, zero-conference-win Northwestern, or 56-scholarship Penn State; when you stop leading the nation in fumbles year after (after year); when your vaunted, veteran offense (fifty points a game, man, you heard it here first) doesn't go scoreless in the second half of the UCLA meltdown; when you don't implode against doormats like Minnesota, or surrender easily winnable games like MSU because of systemic incompetence; in short, when you start putting a product on the field befitting your salary and position at this university, then you and your players will have a relationship with the fanbase largely free of serious criticism.

Until that day comes, shut. the f*#k. up.

P.S. And don't make me laugh about players "counting down the days" until they're done. Good. Get rid of that cancer. Cut it out now, before the Iowa game. Don't even let those non-hackers put on the jersey. You signed up for big boy football at a big boy program. No, I don't excuse a-hole fans who are out of line, but get real. They exist in every major fanbase of every major program and cannot be avoided. I've seen other message boards in comparable situations: it gets absolutely vile. But CFB is show business. It comes with the territory. When you sign that LOI so you can get the free housing, the free food, the free gear, the free education, and all the perks of being a genuine celebrity with a shot at an NFL career, best brace yourself to handle more emotional storms than random idiots chattering on Twitter.

We are living on the west coast. We don't watch the games live this year - I think this is a fundamental event. We've never waited and watched the DVR copy of the game delayed before this season. We've always been pumped to watch the Huskers play live - but this year if different. I, like most Nebraskans, have put a lot of my heart into being a Husker Fan over the years - but I don't see the spirit, the commitment, the drive in our teams (and Coaches) the last few years and I'm getting tired of putting so much of myself on the line, into winning or losing - or losing very, very bad. I will still support and be proud of the "N," but I don't hold much faith in things getting better without real some changes. How does the Penn State Coaching staff recover that team from the Hell they went through two years ago and "STILL" take it to the Huskers for all they were worth? Wyoming? Minnesota? Blowing the UCLA game?

  9. I don't know about anyone else, yeah, I would have appreciated a win, but if there needs to be a loss, that was not a horrible way to do it. NU didn't look helpless, there were some mistakes, but all-in-all, the D looked surprisingly good and the offense put a lot of points on a great defense.

I am not a sunshine pumper, this was actually a bit of a heart-breaking loss because, for the first time in a while, there was a visible path to victory. I think earlier this season (probably after UCLA) [i said] how much I hated the losses that were the result of TOTAL domination, where it wasn't possible to see those one or two tweaks that could have resulted in a win. For the first time in a while following a loss [i could see the "if onlys"]; I think that this actually DOES bode well for the future, or, at least, it bodes less badly.

I donno... anyone else feel like this? I guess I said a couple weeks ago that I wrote this season off in my mind and see it more as a building season. Let the young players get some experience in big games, take what we can get. That might have re-framed my perception of a loss.

Gimmie a break -year 6 of the Pelini experiment is not working. What blew me away was the defense not following the ball througth the entire play - looked like a Cosgrove team where people didn't care - just didnt care or didn't believe. We give this Coach another year to provide us with a team that really does not want to be Huskers? let's just buy the Wyoming program and set them up in Lincoln -they have been able to recruit QB's who do not put the ball on the turf what - 6 times.........building our own team is not successful and has cost too much. I love the Huskers - but we have no class, no moxy, no pride. The coaching staff has failed to build , hell just maintain, the NU mindset.

Do you think our kidshave been. Give in to

  10. http://espn.go.com/c...-bo-pelini-says

Well, none of us expected Taylor's career to end this way, especially with all the expectations for him this year.

But I think it is best to move on. We have a potential star QB in TA. He seems to be the guy for this year most definitely.

Tough break for Martinez, but I believe he wanted out of the limelight. He is a little awkward, and I think it showed with his play and the communication with his teammates. TA just seems to be a better fit. Wish the best for Taylor though.

"He is a little awkward?" Gimme a break...people on this board have been out for him since day one. TAYLOR had skills we've not had at NU before. He is fast, faster than anyone I can remember. God bless this kid - he played hard and he played hurt - I never heard him complain or ask for anything but for the team. This kid is a HUSKER!!!

  11. I don't think the Husker brand is something that needs fixed. The brand is fine, and when it is at its best (aka. spring game Jack Hoffman run, winning the ESPY), it is something that really is amazing. The in-game experience can be spiced up for sure. We definitely need something between third and fourth quarters to get the stadium and the team hyped up to finish the game.

The brand has not attracted a good recruiting class for how many years now? It gets changed and brought up to the future or it can stay in the past with the trophies gathering dust. Better figure out a new way to attract top tier kids to Lincoln, it has not been working.

  12. The Huskers have officially lost it.

Bo Pelini won't be here next year.

He may not survive the weekend.

Wouldn't it be funny if Tommy Armstrong was the fresh blood and pride-salvaging cover to get Nebraska to the CCG? Another 10 - 4 season, maybe even 11 - 3, with a bowl win? What if this was the turnaround point? Would we look back at the posts this past week and laugh?

Wait. Are you laughing right now?

Because it could happen. Seriously. I think.

I saw a guy I know who played for the Huskers back in the 70's on my lunch walk in downtown Portland, OR today. We talked about current Husker events. He wasn't laughing.

  13. The people of Nebraska pay these guys how much money to perform so poorly? This ought to be a pretty hot subject in many rural barber shops across the state this week. Bo should have to defend his performance personally to a bunch of farmers in those barber shops this week - defend his half a%%sed job as the coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, defend his job as the guy entrusted with a sacred trust. He just needs to go away - people have had it.

  14. We Huskers would be laughing at the back side of those John Deer Green Jerseys because we don't have one kid on the whole Husker Squad that could keep up with the Oregon Team Speed. I've got degrees from NU and Oregon, took a long while to warm up to the Ducks, but with this crap happening in Lincoln, I'm really starting to like the Ducks. Holy Cow, folks out here know I love the Huskers and they are really treating this gingerly because they know how bad it is for me. How can the University Management keep letting us shoot ourselves in the foot? Don't they get paid to manage risk?

  15. Are you guys nuts? Scott is a great guy and folks in Eugene like him a lot, but he is not ready for a Head Coach position. Why would you set up someone again to fail? I live in Portland, OR and this am on the way out the door my neighbor catches me and says, "so whats' with that Pelini guy?" ............ then he backs off and says, "hey, I'm really sorry man!" I guess I must have given him a look like this is really starting to get personal........I guess people around the country are now kind of laughing at the Huskers because of Pelini's behavior both on and off the field.

  16. Where do we go from here?

Fishing, and when it is too cold for that, deer hunting. Better to put your Saturday happiness in your own hands them someone else's.

That is the absolute best post I have read on the forum this whole weekend. I congratulate your insight. Thank you. Silly me. I scheduled a rafting trip to Idaho on the Middle Fork of the Salmon on the bye weekend coming up - was afraid I would miss something Husker. That's what I get for planning ahead for sure. Should have been out there this weekend, would have never known the hurt.

  17. Stop it people. You are gonna kill this season, the coaches, the players, the recruiting. :ahhhhhhhh

Define "what is a dead season?" I think I saw that today. I saw a team give up on itself, give up on its coaches, give up on the fans, give up on the brand. That is a clear and epic failure of leadership.

  18. DVR, it is a new concept in the world and not many people have heard of it, but it works wonders.

I'll bet his DVR didn't accept drunken inputs. Or it did, and he now has three hours of saved Golden Girls reruns.

Who doesn't have 3 hours of Golden Girls?

This thread is worthless without pics.

    They have a better defense

  19. Frost comes over to NU when Beck gets HC gig

I would love to see Scott come back to NE, but I think he really likes it in Eugene - and the Ducks really seem to like him (I live in Portland). In addition, right now the way things sit, leaving Eugene for Lincoln would be a bad choice for his resume. Nebraska has not been on the same level with Oregon the last 5 to 8 years and while I hope that changes, our recruiting would really need to turn it around and compete with the big boys again.

Scott comes back, maybe, as Head Coach down the road. I would very much like to see that happen, it would close up a lot of wounds opened during the last 15 years.

    GBR

  20. I don't mean to be negative, but is it safe to say that we got absolutely no recruiting boost from all the Suh hype? If anything it looks like we took a dip at DT. I think we were all expecting his Heisman caliber year to lead into some big time recruits. As it turns out, it doesn't look like any DT recruits from the following years made any kind of on field contribution. Let me know if I am missing someone though.

    A profound observation.

  21. My God!

Who would every believe NU would incorporate anything of Miami into our Psyche? This is crazy. The guy rolled the dice on Miami and he set up his future based on the Miami reputation. This is not acceptable at the University of Nebraska! This is alien to everything Nebraska has represented. No way. Who would be proud of some guy from Miami running the Nebraska Athletic Program.

    This cannot happen!
