  1. If we would have done a few things differently, Diggs and Fuller may have committed in early November.

And Decommitted in December or January?

Nope. Both are perfect examples of the nice guy finishing last.

If they committed way back then and they wanted to start looking around and decommit, they would have. It is not about when you give your verbal it is about where you sign your name.

I will be frank with you, if we would have been more connected with Diggs, he would be a Husker. There was a point during the season that the staff was certain he would be a Husker. We decided to "give him his space," and look where that landed us. Fuller is oddly simular.

I read the rumors on the Rivals board too. I'll be frank, he got the offer from his dream school and committed to them. It happens.

  2. My concern with Ford is size. Needs to get here and buy into the weight program. Cant have Joshua Mitchell 2.0.

Ford is listed as 5'10 180lb. Mitchell was 5'11 165lb. I don't think Ford needs to put on that much weight, if any, to contribute.

  3. If he has a problem with the talent level he should go tell Bo and JP since they brought it here.

Do you really think they've never talked about this.

I'm sure he came right in and started bashing the recruiting of his boss.

So none of the coaches talk to each other. they just do their own thing and recruit the players they want?

I find that very hard to believe.

I think you missed the point

  4. OPH - Agreed buddy. I dont think that we backed down yesterday as much as we were so concerned about what was being said or done and we forgot about playing football and worried about them. I didn even recognize what game they were playing in the 3rd quarter. Wasn't any sport I have ever seen.

I can see that and have seen that throughout the season. For some reason, mid way through the third quarter and going into the fourth, our team looked intimidated.

I don't think we looked intimidated at all, I'd say they were more demoralized and frustrated by the redzone turnovers, hail mary passes and dropped balls. They were very much in that game, but as usual stupid mistakes and fluke plays took over.

I guess when I see the offensive line fall apart in the fourth quarter cause they can't match up with the defensive line, I see intimidation. Yes we had the hail mary, turnovers and dropped balls, but from what I remember most of that was in the first 3 quarters, when we were down by 3. By the fourth quarter our players were outmatched.

  5. Had some friends discuss this...don't shoot the messenger but do you all think there's any link between Bo's demeanor and Dennard losing his cool?

Not sure about Dennard's incident (him and Jeffery were both playing very physical), but you could link Bo's demeanor and the teams compete loss of focus.

  6. Not one sane person would have picked nu to win a national title. Most preseason picked us to go 8-?/9-?....so what's the fuss about?

National championship? No. Top 2 in our division? Yes. And we got crushed in 3 games and in the fourth one player got picked on too many times without the coaches doing anything about. I'm not saying fire anyone, but something needs to change or happen in the offseason.

  7. OP, that's basically the d-line's job in this scheme, 2 gap it and gobble up olineman so that guys like david and compton and even safeties from time to time to "knife" through and make tackles. We ran the same scheme in high school out of a 4-4 and each of our 4 linebackers had more tackles than the entire d-line combined. We were last in t.o.l.'s but 1st in total defense and scoring defense in our district. It's just Bo's philosophy. It worked great last year and the year before because 1 we had Suh that did more than gobble up blocks, he was able to disrupt and penetrate WHILE gobbling up two blockers and last year we had the solid secondary to back em up. As the years come and go, experienced and talented groups come and go and sometimes you just dont have the personell with the proper experience or talent to execute the kind of scheme you wanna use, but does that mean Bo should completely abandon his philosophy and do something totally different that definitlely does not fit our system. It'd be like switchin to a west coast offense cuz Taylor's not a strong enough runner.

you have to adjust to your players....

Agree with the scheme and your post accountability, but also with what melscott said. There has to be some flexibility in your scheme to adjust or overcome your weaknesses. Also, this scheme and the way we use it against anything close to a mobile QB does not seem to work. And when it comes to a passing down (like 3rd and 20) our players look clueless as to how to rush the QB that we have to blitz. And our blitzes just haven't worked this year as we get no pressure on the QB. Then you have a 25 yard completion and you're still on the field cause 6-7 guys couldn't get any pressure and our DB's just aren't good enough to all have man coverage.

  9. honestly, I think it was a low blow by Raymond. Marvin did more with less! Without LSU type talent, Raymond seems to be struggling. And, instead of taking it like a man, he blames it on the players. WOW!

I lost some respect for him after that. Is it taken out of context? I dont know..

Here are some stats for you:

    2008 (Marvin's first year):

    89th ranked passing defense

    82nd ranked passing efficiency

    2011:

    18th ranked passing defense

    25th ranked passing efficiency

How about giving the guy a little time?

He took over an established system. Marvin was trying to undo all the damage done by that one guy, can't remember his name. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson? Cosgrove! I was way off

He took over an established system, with 3 of 4 new starters who saw very little playing time last year (save for Evans, who got yanked last year after one bad play). I was also told that Marvin Sanders did more with less. Stats don't seem to say so, cause 2008 he had less (with 3 of 4 returning starters) and finished a lot worst.

Raymond's been here one year. His group has shown improvement throughout the year. Give him more time.

  10. The problem is, In the past 10-15 years, more often than not, when the Huskers face any kind of adversity they back down instead of facing it. And when you don't face it, things snowball out of control fast. Somewhere along the line we lost leadership and swagger that good teams just have. Our guys seem to play well to start games, but one thing goes wrong and they wilt.I'm not sure what the problem is and how to fix it, but someone in the locker room or coaching offices need to figure out what it is or 8-9 win seasons will become the norm.

  12. Officially down to Tennessee, USCe, and Vanderbilt.

NU and Mich State are out.

Source? Not that I don't believe you, it's just that the last time someone on here said we were out of it Diggs came out and made a public statement about how we was still very high on us...

    Paid Rivals article

  13. So, you throw out a blanket statement backed by zero evidence, then get butthurt when called on it? Nice.... Since we're making unsubstantiated claims and counting them as fact, I invented the internet.

Al Gore? I knew it. Where is man-bear-pig?

  14. For those who have read the book, is this movie going to be more like Fellowship of the Ring where there isn't a ton of action or Return of the King with some cool fighting scenes? Just trying to get a feel for how much fighting will be in this movie.

Well it is a 2 parter, so I'm assuming the first one will be like the Fellowship of the Ring and the second one will be more like Return of the King.

Thats the way the book was written

  15. Meh. We had plenty of SC fans that came over just to talk smack to the Clemson fans for the Gator Bowl a few years ago.

I can only address what I see. I wasn't here for that but so be it.

It was pretty entertaining actually. There were locked threads, some moved to The Woodshed, and people banned. It was the internet version of all of my family's gatherings.

When I found out we were playing South Carolina I was actually looking forward to some of those threads. Been a let down so far.
