  1. Yes that is true, but you don't call their mother and get her upset!! I don't think Osborne would do that. Maybe Stoops got him a good "off season" job lined up! It was Stoops who blew the whistle!,

  3. Just before signing day as you all know the stud from San Antonio .Travis Lewis switched commits and went with us. I heard an interview with him on signing day on a station WWLS out of Okie City. The interviewers were asking why and all the football related questions that one usually hears from such. Travis shed some light on how difficult it was to call coach Callahan. He said he tried 3 times but hung up the phone, he was "so scared", he said, but he knew he had to do it. When he got Callahan on the phone Bill said, Son, this won't do, I will not have it this way. Travis said the conversation got a little uncomfortable and they ended the call on a little bit of a sour note. Then the next day Callahan called his Mother and starts to get a little pissy with her! He didn't say if he was going to slash any throats but Travis knew after that exchange he made the right decision for him. The only reason I'm posting this to you all is after he swiched I saw a lot of complaing and upset people, which I understand, but I remember a certain O lineman that was a commit of ours for six months or so and then he switched to NU, I think he never played though, he had a blood clot problem. He was from South Dakota. Hey, ya win some and ya lose some when you deal with 17 year olds.
  4. Thats the way most OU fans see it as well. I concur.
  5. I think that was the prevailing thought when the conference was formed. SoonerOLB, the reason NU became dominant was chasing that carrot that was OU. You are absolutely right on that, but when we got there, you guys were nowhere to be found. Now you guys are back to a top level and the Huskers are working their way back as well. Personally, I want a rematch of last year's Big 12 title game next year and every year for that matter. OU-NU is a good rivalry for college football and it will be awesome when both programs are playing at a high level at the same time. Yes, it would be good for college football. Just getting to the game is a tough row to how. I have been waiting for Mizzu to finally break through, I kinda thought that they might be the real deal, but every year they seem to disappoint. Strange how the North is of late, up for grabs. With the two new coachs up there, Colorado and Iowa State, it can only improve in my estimation. It will be interesting to see how Keller responds, this is his fith year in D-! ball, and had success at ASU, so he should do OK in '07. I know that Stoops wanted him. It should be a very interesting season coming up. Oh by the way I'm sorry to hear about Maron Lucky's suicide attempt, I hope he comes through Ok. Go big Red, Boomer Sooner What suicide attempt!!!!???? The excessive amount of pills he took a couple of weeks ago, I saw it on a USC web site a couple of weeks ago, an "apparent" suicide attempt. It was reported here in L.A. also. His High School coach is out here in North Hollywood CA. I hear he was distraught over some break up with some girlfriend or something. I hope he comes through ok and gets the needed help. They covered it on the news out here how his parents in Dallas were crack heads and he was sent to the L.A. area for some parental guidence. Its so sad that so many of these black football players come from such torn backgrounds. I pray that this kid will be OK. Time to raise the bullsh#t flag!!!! That's all hearsay and rumors!!!! Nothing is confirmed so I can't agree........ I live in SoCal, and a couple of weeks back I saw something on one of the local sports channels about him. I think he played at North Hollwood High, or somewhere in the San Fernando Valley. They said it was an apparent suicide attempt ,or an overdose. Just thought I would throw it your way.
  6. Is that what they are telling you guys?

  9. Well, Bug I would have a hard time seeing ol' Tom using profanity against us, or doing the throat slash. Somehow I was kinda saddend by that cause I knew "our match-ups" would never be the same. Its strange to see how your AD has cleaned house of all remnents of the old gaurd. Kinda sad really, but things change. I knew John"Milk Dud" Blake would'nt last up there too long, his character and song and dance tend to get old. As far as the assualt on our cheerleader, that gorrilla should have been arrested and shown bubba. I was'nt aware about the "gun" comment., but I have a saying about that, " Guns, everybody otta" have some, Religon, (spirituality) everybody otta" get some" In Oklahoma, we are not "Hillbillys", we are Rednecks. He was a little of on his Geography. I can't speak for everyone in the OU fan base but the OU-NU game is a fond memory in most peoples minds, its nice when it happens, that is all. Bug, If our teams do what they are supposed to do, then we will meet more often, I hope that happens. Go Big Red, BOOMER SOONER.
  10. Well, redfan, Bob does not have a say in conference alignments or games., As far as Bob whining I'm not sure he has had much to whine about playing you all, I think he has only lost once to you guys. During the Stoops years OU-4 wins Neb, 1 win. He has along way to go to match Switz's record against you guys. But there is time.
  11. This game use to mean something back in the day, with the conference title on the line almost every year. I've been to many of these classic match ups including the "Game of the Century". I was selling 7-up and Dr.Pepper as a kid. (and yes Joe Wiley got clipped on the run-back) This thread got me to thinking about all of those games, the one in '59, I forget what your coach's name was but he was from Norman and a former player for Bud Wilkenson, your coach was fired the year after. I think that is when Devaney came in, but I'm not sure. There were some good ones in the '60s as well, I think that was the start of the rivalry. I always remember watching those games during the Thanksgiving time and the weather was always a factor, especially in Lincoln. So many close games and good memories. Those were different times with different players and attitudes, culture and such. The 70s were another exciting time for both schools, with Tom and Barry. And through the 80's until Switzer left. I think Osborne took all his frustrations out on us after Barry left, We went through 3 coaches until the present time. As far as continuing the game it won't happen unless they restructure the Big 12 and take away the Championship game. Times have sure changed for you guys, I really see that you don't have a "big game" or rivalry. I think Gary Barnett circled you guys as there rival. We have had a rival for over 100 years with the whorns, and that will never change, Nebraska was not a rival like this game, for us anyway. For fans, coaches, players, ulums, bands, cheerleaders, Oil barons, well, you get the picture. You guys were never that for us. I don't mean to sound arrogant or cocky, but I will quote Osborne, when he said, "Oklahoma always gave us something to live up to". Conference titles, Yes, absolutly, big game, yes. I would consider our game as a "classic match-up" during a special time of year. But that is gone. I say with respect that you guys still need us, and Oh by the way, you guys stole our cheer, "Go Big Red", my Dad use to shout it during the early 50's, and I use to in the early 60's. So with that I will say, Go Big Red, Boomer Sooner.
