  1. I'd take Goodson... he was only a freshman last year. Goodson tore his knee up last year. Patrick is an animal that runs pissed off and downhill. Goodson is young and very talented, Patrick is a senior and a 20 carries a game kinda back. Goodson is not as durable, but when healthy, very fast. gOU Big Red
  2. yep, your right....its dead.
  3. The 1956 OU team only punted 3 times the whole year...THE WHOLE YEAR. When the college all star practice was going on Paul Horning was taking snaps from OU's center and he was bouncing them from ten yards. He replied...what in the hell is going on....can't you snap? Our center responded.."we only punted 3 times this year..I havn't had enough practice"! gOU Big Red
  4. Aug. 31 at Oklahoma 64-21 Sept. 9 at Michigan St. 50-10 Sept. 16 vs. Arizona St. 77-28 Sept. 23 vs. Pacific 49-7 Sept. 30 vs. Washington St. 35-21 Oct. 14 vs. Missouri 57-0 Oct. 21 vs. Kansas St. (8) 49-25 Oct. 28 at Colorado (7) 44-21 Nov. 4 vs. Iowa State 73-14 Nov. 11 at Kansas (10) 41-3 Nov. 24 vs. Oklahoma 37-0 Jan. 2 vs. Florida (2) 62-24 The Washington State game was the only close game, NU's first two drives resulted in fumbles and WSU had one really good drive, but even that game wasn't as close as the score indicates. The bugeaters never played us in Aug......... I thought tom had turned the corner when he was up by fourty, and was passing for long bombs no class. No one will ever forget that classless act of coaching Did you ever realize it took Swit's firing for Neb to beat OU? I guess it was pinned up frustration for all those years of getting your butt kicked, to make him do that. gOU Big Red
  5. Not to mention Tierre Green who will be playing the same position two years in a row for the first time in his career! Our back seven can rival anyone in the country! please, send me some of what you are smoking! Another honest post.
  6. hahah, are you kidding me? Freeman is just another QB in the Husker eyes. All this hype over him starting at KSU and he played terrible against us...at HOME! I don't see KSU ever being a rival. The CU game has become something I look forward to more...just because I wanna cream those hippies every chance we get! I remember a very green Tommie Frazier losing to a very piss poor Iowa State team his true freshman year, so I wouldn't count Freeman out due to one poor game. I guess you already forgot about the game Freeman played against Texas? Whenever KState has been good, they had an outstanding QB (Bishop and Roberson). I'm not saying Freeman will ever be as good as those two QB's, but he could. In order to KState to rise up and be of rivalry caliber again, they need the QB position to be extremely solid. I think it is naive to think that KSU will never be our rival. Oh how short memories are. In 1998, they were the Big 12 Championship game away from playing for a NC. In 2003, they absolutely kicked the ever living crap out of a team that was thought to be the best in the nation. Considering their coach is only the 4th coach in the Big 12 to make it to a bowl game in his first year after taking over a program with a losing record the previous year, I think you're not giving enough credit where credit is due. Btw, I'm sure if Freeman would have come to NU you'd be saying he's the best thing since beer in a can. I'm not saying KState will amount to much in 07', but I think it's very naive to count them after that. Great Post!! , no bias, very honest and observant!
  7. I would seriously consider not doing the "hook em" sign BIGREDIOWAN.
  8. When you first said this I agreed. But upon reflection, I disagree. Rivalry means playing the other guy for who he is and not what for he has done. UCLA's upset of us this year would never have happened if it was based on "taking care of business". Our upsets of them in the past would not have happened if it was based on "taking care of business" Here locally in b-ball the Duke-Carolina rivalry wouldn't be what it is if it was based on "taking care of business". No. Rivalry means pinning your ears back and going after that other guy at all costs. Anything less is some level of championship game, not rivalry. I liked the rivalries of the old Big-8, the old Pac-8, the old SWC, and the old ACC (R.I.P) And I disagree with your assesment, cause 'if" our teams don't "take care of business" we won't meet every year. Like your Pac-10,. you guys had to add a game so you would play everyone in your conference. We don't have that option. We are two on and two off with Nebraska. ...But...If we take care of business we can meet every year! The formation of the Big-12 did in our Thanksgiving day classic, with the passing of old fans that don't communicate it to the newer fans it will continue to fade. Our rivialry it texASS, the OU-NU game was a fall "classic". I would like to see the Pac-10 add two more teams, maybe a Fresno State, BYU or a San Deigo State and have a Championship game like the ACC, SEC and the Big 12. I wonder what people would say if UCLA and sc only played two on and two off? I know that they would be playing every year because of the geographical location, but in my observation the OU-NU game was and is bigger on a national scale than the battle for "LA". If OU and NU played every year it would be good for football on a national level. My observations gOU Big Red
  9. Like it not, these are the cards you guys have been dealt in the north with K-State and Colorado. I guess those are your rivarlies now. We have our hands full with the South. Like I said before on other posts, "If we take care of business we should meet every December" gOU Big Red
  10. http://oklahoma.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=686556 Thought I would pass this on. gOU Big Red
  11. This should give you guys some insight about living with aggies. They are delusional orange-headed step-children that never got enough to eat gOU Big Red

  13. There are no "gimmie' games anymore, especially in this Big 12 we live in now. I'm concerned about all of them. gOU Big Red
  14. http://ouinsider.com/news/story.php?article=42 What do you guys know about this LB? I think it was the same HS as Eric Crouch?
  15. Its not really a posession but a few memories. When I was at OU we played you guys 4 times in 3 years. Twice in '78 in the regular season and in the Orange Bowl. Last year I ran into Jarvis Redwine at the Home Depot in Hawthorn, CA. We had a nice visit, I told him how we studied film on him back in the day and the games that we played in against each other. He told me how he ended up at NU, he was suppose to go to UTEP, but the coach left that was recruiting him and went to lOSUr. Then the head coach at stoolwater gets fired and an assistant ends up in Lincoln. Well, the assistant who was recruiting Jarvis told Tom about him gives him a scholarship. He was riding the pine until I.M. Hipp gets injured, and the rest is histroy as they say. gOU Big Red
  16. Good read, that is true with all the teams , look at sc against the Beavers last year, OU against texass when we turned the ball over 5 times in the second half, and you guys against the lOSUrs in stoolwater last year. From my standpoint of observation Sam Keller with be so important for you guys this year. Will he step up, will injuries play a role? Who knows? But I'll tell you one thing, I watched the Miami-Nevada game last year and Miami should have lost. The "wolf-pack loves to sling the pigskin all day long. To me, those games are cause for concern. Like Boise State last year. gOU Big Red
  17. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=679449 And there ya' go OLB
  18. hmmm did i hear no did I read that right SoonerOLB did you said Go Big Red? holy crap way to go....just change your name to "I love the huskers and Tom Osborne is my hero" and you'll be set good job and way to turn from the dark side You must be a younger football fan, Cause I remember chanting that in Norman when I was growing up there in the 60's. My Dad who went to OU in the early "50 said that is what they chanted then, but I was taught we used it before the War in the early '40s. The "Boomer" chant came along in the 90's I think. We also had a Native American mascot that OU removed in 1967 or 68 and he was called "little Red", and the team was "The Big Red". After "little Red" got the "ax" we took on the "Sooner Schooner" as OU "official mascot' I should have qualifed to avoid confusion...gOU Big Red. I have no problem with calling you guys the Big Red of the North. Regards. OLB
  19. agree completely If our teams take care of Bid'ness we should meet every year. And I hope thats the case. Boomer Sooner, Go Huskers Thanks Eric.
  20. Finially a Husker fan that gets it. Brother, I too have had those times in my life when NU came away with a victory that could have given us a National Championship shot. It was a rivalry that was so "different" than others, not an "in state" (Bedlam) or a "Red River Shootout" (Texass), but just different, the time of year when it was held, the stakes, cause the season was winding down and the conference title was on the line. Plus it was THE fall classic at the time. You must be a ltttle bit older than the others who post on this site, Sounds like you remember the Big 8 for what it was. Too bad those days are gone. I have some close friends from your state and they lament over what has happened since your AD (Petersen) took over and did what he did. Now you have coaches with NO Nebraska ties AT ALL , that must be a bitter pill to swallow, since Neb, was the only program in the country with ties back to the genesis of there success...( Devany, Osborne,,home grown boys) We definatly made each other better, and I always pulled for you guys in bowl games, ( although Osborne would often disapoint me). It was common in Oklahoma not to dis-respect NU, or even have similar feelings like we have towards OSwho or Texass, or Colorado for that matter, in my mind they always played dirty (Colorado). We also never had any ill will towards Kansas or Mizzou. I know you guys want to succed and be competitive again, just like we did we Bob came to OU. I hope it happens, I'm not sure about Callihan though, and his loyalty to the College game, I'm sure time will tell after this year. I also see the heat will be more on Petersen than Callihan if things go south, but that is my observation. gOU Big Red As with any team, there are those who lack maturity or ability to discuss without hate. For many it's just easier. I will say it now as I've said it many times on the board before. If NU doesn't win it all, I hope OU does. Back in 2001 when OU came to Lincoln, the Friday night before the game, I met up with dozens of OU fans and although we traded punches, we always ended with "good luck, if we have to lose one game this year I'd rather it be you than someone else." This past year when we traveled to KC for the Big 12 Championship game there was not an ounce of hate running through me. Not the same feeling I got when going to Kansas St. or USC. It was simple pure enjoyment. I knew I was going to a football oasis of respect and pride. Sure we traded jabs, but not so much as a hint of hate. Now that's football. That's college football. I hope NU can play to their potential and win the Big 12 North like they should and meet OU again and again and again in the divisional title game. Everyone should be so lucky to be a part of a game like this every year. To quote skersfan, "They just wear a different red." Go Huskers/Go Sooners Next time im in Lincoln, I'm buying rounds, I'll let you get the tip. Boomer Sooner, Go Huskers
  21. Actually we were saying Go Big Red back in the 40's. And Crimson is Red, like blood. There is a new husker fan dawning to take place of the old guard, and its not as traditional , you are becoming like everyone else. I hope that the new fans, ( since the 80's) will listen to their elders. Our teams played each other with respect. unlike all the other teams, except for maybe the Ivy league. When I walked into your stadium I was shocked at the number of gray-hairs, some of the current fans should take a history lesson from them, like some Sooner fans should take lessons from our elders. We both have a history, learn it. gOU Big Red.
  22. Finially a Husker fan that gets it. You must be a ltttle bit older than the others who post on this site, Sounds like you remember the Big 8 for what it was. Too bad those days are gone. We also never had any ill will towards Kansas or Mizzou. gOU Big Red We have two home runs here in these two posts I have summarized.. As I am older, I remember the big NU-OU games, and they lived up to everything. There is just too much badmouthing about adversary's programs, and not enough respect where respect it due. I get sick of hearing it, especially on the Trojan websites. We all have players constantly in the news, and with the exception of a few progams nationwide, I don't know how you quantify that aspect of the program. Just yesterday one of our top DBs got busted dui. My son works for a university that has a national stature football program. He sees flagrant violantions of NCAA regs swept under the rug regularly. Yet, nothing he has told me has met the light of day, though people have tried to get the admin to act on it. Is that program "clean" because the public doesn.t know about it? How can we as fans, suddenly be investigative reporters and really "know" the dirty laundry from other schools? I think we should look at it like 'hskerfan. Judge the program on the merit of the team on the field. Everything else is a distant second. OU-NE keep up that great tradition, and both of you beat Texas! Hey Tarheel, I live in L.A, CA. and know your Def. Coach. I am aware of SC's problems Your words about respect are true. Like Hskersfan said, its the terrorist that are the enemys, not opposing teams, We are all Americans gOU Big Red
  23. This hit is one that will live im my memory forever. I was 17 years old, just walking up the ramp to take my seat , when this hit happened right in front of me, the sound was incredible, it knocked Tony Dorsett out of the game. They were Nat, Champs the previous year, and Dorsett was a Heisman winner. they came in highly favored, and got trampled. Johnny Majors was their coach. Welcome to the Big 8!
