  1. Big Red wrap-up spring football special will be shown on May 1 , at 7:00
  2. Johnny Rodgers was on after Darlington (posted by sweetkorn ) Johnny says the players need to do more, the allumni, everyone needs to work together to bring back the unity. Maybe they need more funds for programs to hold things together. Perrault asked him (Rogers) which golf tournament he played at. Johnny said he played at the Callahan tournament. He wished more of the old players would have been there. He says to take pride in Nebraska and support the programs. Now asking Johnny about Steve Pederson....What needs to be done to unite the fans. Johnny said win. He said it isn't Pederson's job to bring them together. It should be the former players and allums responsibility to come together. He said Callahan has always welcomed him back to visit. As far as he knows he's always welcomed players back. After Rogers hung up, Perrault says Johnny is wrong in his opinion. Too bad he (Perrault) didn't say that to his face or even when he had him on the phone. What a coward
  3. George Darlington on Matt Perrault's show today Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perrault was trying to bait him with this question. "Have you ever seen the program so divided over an AD? I mean, isn't the AD somebody who everyone usually likes?" Darlington said "not at all. Bob Devaney got a load of grief for hiring a Christian coach. People wanted his head and said Osborne wouldn't last. Hell, the fans almost ran us all out of here in '76. We almost ended up in Colorado. About 85% there as I recall. Also, there were a lot of people who didn't like Bill Byrne. A LOT of people. You just can't listen to those people. Pederson is doing a fine job and the fans should appreciate him." "you just shouldn't listen to those people" Words to live by. sorry but this is what Parrault was refering to and the next post down Im slow ok.
  4. :asshat : Perrault WAS listening Reply -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course I was listening. I have said many times that I read just about anything that mentions my name that I can find online. I don't respond to things unless I'm wrongly quoted or called out. I came on here because of that reason with the Coach Darlington interview. I did read what was written on here and I wanted to make sure that my audience knew what were trying to do with the story. I've played the clip of what happened with Tommie and Co. and you can listen to the entire thing on line with our podcast to support the fact that I said nothing to provoke the response. I made that statement in order to explain what were doing and to make sure a few internet blowhards didn't start a story that wasn't true. 6. Nobody wants to forget the past. but the points being made are, some of these former players were making very nasty comments when Frank was origanaly fired. The way Frank left and the comments being made definatly hinderd the search for a new coach in my opinion. Im sure some feelings behind the seen were hurt, and its posible that after S.P. has taken so much fire that he has decided to just look foward. If the assistants like Milt and George can why not the players. And yes the golf outing was tacky which hurt the purpose of the fundraiser.
  7. Well CornHOLIO, if people like Brodrick Thomas, and these other former players want to get on the radio, and t.v. and run their mouths, and bag on this program, what message does that send to recruits. They call it the original husker way, and your not a nebraska guy. How many of these people that are talking are, they act like they were all born here. I still say these former players are hypocrits, by being so offended now and not when Frank so gracefully removed the back-bone of nebraska to cover his own failure as a coach. As they said about Collier he was good at getting div-ll talent for a div-1 program.
  8. In 1990- 1991 after T.O. got smacked around again by a Florida team in a bowl game, he went to Bobby Bowden and asked what changes he needed. Bobby said Tom you need speed, speed, speed;. I think Frank was to stubbern to ask for help, but you see how B.C. right after a game has no problem with finding his flaws by sending coaches to Auburn. How many times did we watch a game with Frank, and he would stare at his clip-board for three straight plays, while we yelled at the t.v. stuff i cant print ,,FRANK LOOK UP. By that time we ran three straight full-back traps, PUNT. The way Frank left ,with the animosity that was floating around, many of the coaches that probly would have taken the job shied away, people with nebraska ties like Al Saunders. I honestly think we lucked out with Callahan, we could have ended up with another Barry Collier. G.B.R.
  9. Doak Ostergaurd or how ever you spell it, seemed to feel slighted that Steve P. and Bill C. did not hold a news confrence to honor his years of service and pay him tribute. I dont ever remember Frank doing anything for Milt T. and the other assistant coaches, who gave a hell of alot more to this program then an athletic trainer, and where was T.O."s . loyalty to them that he has so much of know. Many of the players that are now coming out of the woodwork in Doak and Frank"s defence, sure as hell were silent back then while Frank was cutting the legs out from under this program.
  10. My first post here goes. OUTRAGE, where was it when Frank fired Milt T., George D., Dan Y., and others. Milt T. and others have stated publicly that at the end Frank ignored them and treated them like s**t . They also said that they would work on a recruit for a long time, but when it came time for Frank to close the deal he blew it. If Frank cared about the program he would have seen the writing on the wall, and stepped aside gracefully like( and I hate to say this) but Gary Barnett. Dollar Bill Byern seen the writing on the wall and ran like hell. It is not easy for Steve P. to fix this mess since T.O. retired, but it has been a long time comming. And isnt it funny that T.O. admitted he would have stayed longer if Frank hadnt threatend to leave. And isnt it also funny that Milt T. George D. and the other old coaches are regulars at practices.
