  1. Anyone watch Dexter? Dexter was in Nebraska a few weeks ago.

I thought that was pretty hilarious. It was obvious the writers randomly picked a location in the midwest that would be good for a witness protection hideout. The "Kearney, NE" they actually showed in the episode bore no resemblance whatsoever to the real place. At least they pronounced it right in the dialogue.

Or the episode of South Park when the showed A Husker game on the tv and it was tied something like 10-10 and the cut away from the tv and then showed it a minute later and it was 84-10 Huskers.

Lots of Nebraska references over the years on South Park. The guys behind that show are from Colorado, so no big surprise. One of the characters in their movie "Team America: World Police" was a former Nebraska QB.

There was also a King of the Hill episode where Hank takes Bobby to a Texas football game - and they were playing Nebraska.

Actually, the brother of a buddy of mine (I know, I know) from Holdrege is actually the "animation and technical supervisor" for South Park...so he may have something to do with it...he's been there since the beginning. Ryan Quincy is his name. I used to hang out with his brother, David, all the time in high school. So, I guess, I'm kinda famous...right?

  2. Unfortunately, I have an inability to rewatch losses like that...My DVR recording on each TV was deleted shortly after 0:00. Prior to DVR, I recall the Jamaal Lord INT in the EZ Texas game...I took the freshly recorded VHS tape, along with a baseball bat, out into the street and dispatched it with great prejudice...

  3. Loomis is NOT po dunk!

I'm from Douglas County. Yes, yes it is. They have a big game Tuesday. Go Wolves!

Actually, Loomis is a suburb of my hometown...Holdrege. Yes, how I loved to drive out to the burbs and enjoy things like, that gas station they have there with the cold drinks. As well as, the dirt road between Smithfield and Lexington...that's a fun one with the hills and canyons for scenery. Nearly hit a pheasant or two...

As for Thorell...rough day. As for Ciante...rough day. As for that TD for Ebert...HOLY MOLY did Cassidy get sucked in on the PA which left ZERO help over the top. So, continue the rough day theme, but the list goes on for folks who were part of it.

  4. "Nebraska beat Michigan State, but that wasn’t really Michigan State. The heart and the focus weren’t there after the Wisconsin win, and the Huskers took advantage. Now, it’s possible that Nebraska doesn’t bring its A effort after the huge win over the Spartans, and that could be dangerous."

Nope...MSU could have cared less if they won that game and all but sealed the division. I know that its hard to get up for a 4th game in *GASP* 5 weeks...give me a break with this crap. MSU got beat. End of story. Can the Huskers get just a little bit of credit?? Our 5 week stretch included Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State...NU was the team that should have had a hard time getting up for games, as we LOST the first game of the stretch...Heck, winning big games should cause the team to get up EVEN MORE due to the opportunities within the conference and even BCS wise.

    Or, am I completely crazy?

  5. this is dumb, take photo 1 your freshmen year

haha...I should have probably mentioned that, in reality, I understand that guys were not out there playing in bizarro world. The first one is funny because Huskers.com put it in a slideshow of TO probably not noticing it was reversed.

The second one is just funny because that poor dude with the old school pants probably didn't see the field. He had some hand me downs from previous years. Apparently, you could discern depth chart prowess by whether or not a guy had access to current gear...

Again, I hate bye weeks and appreciate all the comments during that dark and troubling period.

  6. This may be a scary thing to think about, but many of the students that are at the University now where not around in the 90's to watch Tom, I'm not saying it is an excuse, but may be a reason why to them, he is just another high up not treating the students with the amount of respect their tuition check should get them. Just a thought.

Good point...I forget how young current students (and via the transitive property) how old I am...Maybe we could require a certain number of credit hours dedicated to all things Husker History...you know, 2 years of math, a foreign language, and Husker History 101 could be requirements for admittance into UNL...

  7. Pretty sure the issue here is not whether or not students need better seats...its the issue with telling Dr Tom it doesn't matter what he says...when in fact, he IS Nebraska Football. 255 wins, 3 NC, and everything else that came with it. Coach can say anything he wants because he has proven that he has the best interest of NU at heart. I agree, students should get better seats. But, Osborne should be shown respect. PERIOD.

edit: His 40 years given to all things Nebraska trump a LOT of other opinions.

    Ehhh........

I'm willing to defer to Dr. Tom in a lot of ways, but I'm not going to agree with him on everything. This happens to be an area where I don't agree. There has to be a better way to utilize the energy the students bring than we're doing now.

Knapplc, I totally agree...maybe it didn't come through clearly. No way does Coach get a pass on everything. But, I'm like you, I'll defer to him in a lot of situations. And, like I said earlier, I absolutely agree with the students needing better seats. My main point was that given what he has done for the University, and as an extension, us personally, he gets a LOT of benefits of the doubt...I would imagine there is an effort to determine the best place/size for the students. Obviously, a lot of admin folks are going to see the impact of other student sections as we hit the road in the B1G.

  8. I definitely believe Bo and Carl simplified it a notch in the 2nd half. With Carl telling the D "I don't know what to tell you anymore" it seems like they started going vanilla on the play calling, but that actually allowed for "spicier" play...See what I did there? Sorry.

  10. Even at home I stand during the games. I thought everyone did.

Actually, I do too. There is a path worn around our coffee table from time during commercials...I would also mention that I don't eat or drink anything during the game, but that might make me sound a little off..oops...Hey, its not like I'm admitting to having a home/away/Blackshirt jersey and corresponding scibbies depending on the location and circumstance...Look, there's only so much you can do from Alabama...I gotta do my part! However, the Blackshirts jersey is staying in the closet until Bo hands them out to the team. So, for now, its just home and away, which cannot be considered odd, right?

On another subject, I am confident I have the only 3 year old daughter in Alabama who will randomly start the Husker Power and GOOOO BIIIIIIGGGGG REEEEDDDDD cheers! Funny to hear with a southern accent (my wife is from Alabama), but completely awesome! We are working on the prayer next.

  11. I agree with both calls, but I also have to wonder if we are going to be held all year? In every game we've played this year our defensive line is getting held..............BAD. It's never getting called though..............

I've been asking this for 3 years now...but by golly we will get called at least once or twice a game, regardless of how obvious our D-line is being held. You would think Bo would mention this prior to games when meeting with officials...to at LEAST call it fair, fellas...
