  1. Agreed that there are moron fans in every program, but this one is just too funny. And the really funny thing is that after the initial post some Sooner fans actually sat there and thought... hey that is why we lost. Now there are some smart fans that are playing the voice of reason, but in this thread they are few and far between.
  2. I thought you guys might find this thread at the OU board interesting. I heard some crazy thoughts about why your team lost before, but this one might take the cake. Whining Sooners Can someone familiar with the Sooners please tell me if they are serious? As an LSU fan I will dwell on a big loss for several days or maybe even up to a week, but to come up with this after over 2 weeks seems a little on the OCD side of things.
  3. Baseballs looking real good. Preseason #2/#3. Pitching should be phenominal. I've been to Omaha once (2000 when we won) and I plan on returning this year. Great event and great town (at least while the CWS is going on).
  4. Hey Red... The Bears hired Lovie Smith last week. Nick put the rumors to rest about a week and a half ago with a press conference so the speculation wouldn't hurt recruiting. The general consensus down here is that Saban is here to stay for a while. If he is willing to spurn the Bears and one of his good friends GM Jerry Angelo it seems that he is happy in college football. Hell, I would be happy to since he is about to sign a contract worth somewhere between $2.5 and $3 million a year.
  5. Going over to the dark side! What are your thoughts on this Husker fans? How do you think Nebraska fans will greet him when he returns to Lincoln? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/foot...i.ap/index.html
  6. Well all of Baton Rouge is holding thier collective breath waiting for the NFL jobs to fill up. It looks like the only real push may be coming from the Bears. Saban has ties to Bear's GM Angelo, but LSU is making the bid to keep Saban happy. Some leaks have come out that LSU is offering Saban in the 3 million range for 6 years. Now I don't know if the $$$ is accurate, but I would think with all of the "incentives" added in as well as support from the fundraising wing of the athletic department that $3 mill may be pretty close. It seems like a whole lot to pay a coach, but when you look at the money that Saban is bringing into the university it really is fair market value. For example, 2 years ago the athletic department pulled in around $900,000 in royalties from athletic merchandise. Last year that jumped to around $1.2 mill. They are projecting around $2 - $2.5mill. This doesn't even take into account that LSU will begin a per seat donation fee for all season tickets next year. This is possible mostly due to the fact that Saban and resurrected the program. IMHO, give him whatever he wants to stay...hell I'll even mow his lawn!
  7. What happened to Steve Logan at ECU? I know that he was in our list of potential candidates until we hired Saban. It seemed like he dropped off the face of the earth after that.
  8. Man if I were you guys I would be rather ticked at Peterson. If in fact we lose Saban and Skip Bertman handles the hiring of a new coach like this, LSU legend or not he would be burned at the stake by the vocal LSU alumni. Is there any talk in Nebraska about the stabilty of Peterson's job??
  9. Thanks BRJ...we'll give it our best shot!
  10. You know it Eric...that must be why I mistakenly thought the pretty, young women in Mizzou were upstanding citizens. They were just as smashed as me.
  11. Eric... You may be right. I was pretty drunk.
  12. Come on now Columbia, MO isn't that bad, quaint, but not too bad. I was referring to Columbia (the country). The little weasel (Nutt) could be king of the cartel.
  13. Yeah maybe dating was the wrong word...I mean I was only there for four days. I think all three of those guys are far superior coaches than Houston Nutt. Nutt also has a history of off the field "situations". I mean there has been drugs, guns, violence...It's like freaking Columbia up there.
