  1. Just thought I'd get this started now- pretty excited about the game tonight. Might be a tough game, but it will be interesting to see how the Big XII matches up with the MWC conference. Playing at ND would be awesome too if we win.

  2. Sorry GI56, I did some lookin' and it seems that Doc Sadler may be the real thing. Now we need to get him some players. Having the shortest team in Div I won't lead to a winning program. We didn't play much of a schedule before conference play started. Creighton was the only real team (and they are questionable) that we beat. The other two were Ore. St. and Ariz. St. and they both beat us. We were only 2 and 6 against the top 6 teams in conference and that's not going to cut it either. We also only score an average of 61 points a game and that's not exactly an offensive juggernaut. Peddy must have screwed up and done something right when he hired Doc but now its up to TO to make him want to stay at NE and build a solid program. Can't tell you how much I hope he does it. I'm tired of rootin' for the likes of Kansas (when Heinrich was there, he's the son of a boyhood friend of mine.) Duke and UNC (I have great respect for both coaches) and Wisconsin (one of their players went to highschool with my daughter.). Its time for the Huskers to start kickin' some ass on the BB court.

I'm not sure how having TO as AD translates into better basketball recruits. Osborne is pushing for the Devaney upgrades, and that will help, but if I remember right, that too was part of Pederson's long term plan to improve facilities.

  3. This is one of my favorite times of the year. Championship Week and The first weekend of the NCAA BB Tournament. The only problem is Nebraska is never in it. I've watched a couple of games this year and I haven't seen the Skers go over 50 points. Other big football schools (Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburg, Tennessee, and Florida, just to name a few) can put a BB team together why can't we? If TO just brings the football team back to the level of the last 25 years of the last centuray he will be thought of as a god but the way I see it he will never as AD have the legasy that he had as coach. If, however, he could orchestrate a winning competitive basketball program that would be an incredible epilouge to his story at UNL.

Sadly that legacy would not be his. As much as I hate Pederson for messing up the football program, his hire of Doc Sadler was a great one and Sadler is behind the recent up-surge in our basketball team.

  4. I guess my point really wasn't that Ganz is NFL material, just that he is better NFL material than Harper.

Not to dig on the guy too much, I went to the Gator Bowl, and maybe he was just having a bad game, but

    1. Harper is exceptionally immobile- he was very slow

    2. Harper consistently missed midrange (10-15 yard)

Just having a hard time believing that if Harper is 11th on the list, then Ganz isn't anywhere to be seen.

  5. Not sure if everyone can read this but McShay ranked QBs in the upcoming NFL draft.

It didn't really surprise me that Ganz wasn't on the list, but what stuck out was Cullen Harper at 11. No offense to Clemson fans, but from what I saw at the Gator Bowl, not only is Ganz more mobile than Harper, he also throws the ball better.

Although Harper as NFL size, I really can't think of any reason why he should be at 11 at Ganz not mentioned in the QBs not attending the combine.

  6. I know I asked for this in the Neb vs UT forum, but I was wondering if anyone has a link to the clip of Sadler's post game interview. ESPN where I was watching cut from the game immediately after it ended, and I only got to see Sadler's post game once on Sportscenter that night.

  7. Thing that really scares me about this game is that Texas has lost 2 in a row at home. That said, they could wilt under pressure or come to play.

Hopefully we can maintain our high level of play that we've shown over the last 4 games (minus the turnovers against CO)

  8. Don't know if anyone watched the Kansas-Baylor game tonight.

It was mostly a plug for their coverage of the game on Saturday, but the announcers were talking about Texas and their upcoming game. Said the game in Lincoln would be a challenge- called the Huskers under Doc Sadler as "feisty."

Not too bad of a shout out on national TV.

  9. Yeah sadler is a great soach :)

But it is his choice not to play anyone over 6'4 or 6'5. There are plenty of big guys on the team but I like his strategy of playing smaller and faster players. I don't think that he deserves Big 12 coach of the year honors yet. Once he starts winniging the big games and finds ways to keep the lead at the end then he should get it. :thumbs

Don't really agree with that part.

Not counting Diaz, who probably won't (and shouldn't) play this year, the tallest players on the team are

Chris Balham (6-8) - Doc plays him often but he has been sidelined by injuries.

Ben Nelson (The Senator) (6-8) rarely sees quality minutes.

Alonzo Edwards- (6-7)- averaging 6 minutes a game as a redshirt freshman

Toney McCray (6-6)- averaging 17 minutes a game.

Nebraska being the smallest D-I team doesn't mean that it starts the smallest starting lineup. It means that the it has the smallest average height of all players on a team of any D-I team.

Having two 6-8, 1 6-7, and 6-6 player does not qualify as having plenty of big guys to me.
