  1. If you make the BCS schools schedule at least 2 other BCS schools for their non-conference schedule then you better make the Non-BCS schools schedule 4 BCS schools for their non-conference schedules because their conference schedules look like the non conference schedules of the BCS schools. In short not gonna happen.

2011 NU plays Fresno State, @Wyoming and Washington with one game open. There is nothing wrong with that schedule and adding one more guaranteed home win will not hurt it.

2012 NU plays @UCLA, Southern Miss with two games open. Go get two home games against the Sun Belt and call this good.

2013 NU plays @Southern Miss, UCLA, Wyoming with one game open. Again add one guaranteed home win and call it good.

2014 NU plays @Fresno St, Miami with two open games. Schedule two more guaranteed home wins and move on.

2015 NU plays Southern Miss, @Miami with two open games. Schedule two more guaranteed home wins and move on.

2016 NU plays Fresno St, Tennessee, Wyoming with one open game. Schedule one more guaranteed home win and move on.

Besides playing South Dakota St in 2010 what seems to be the problem with the future Non Conference schedules? :dunno

Exactly. Aside from 2010, the future non-conference schedules are very respectable. I don't have a problem with any of them.

  2. taking the field goal would be a defeat, i wouldn't expect a coach to kick a field goal in that situation. i think any coach would have made that move, to prove something to their offense.

Callafraud went for the 3 while getting pounded by OU a few years ago.

    OU 30

    NU 3

    11/13/04

With less than one minute remaining in the game, Oklahoma went for it on fourth down, but White's completion to Ataleo Ford came up four yards short at the Nebraska 13. Following a penalty that put the Huskers at their 28, fullback Steve Kriewald rambled 48 yards to the OU 24. Kriewald followed his career-long rush with a three-yarder before quarterback Joe Dailey spiked the ball with one second and David Dyches connected on a 39-yard field goal on the final play of the game for the Huskers' only points of the contest.

if I remember correctly, it was more of a response to Stoops trying to run up the score on us for BCS points. It was more of an F you FG.

  3. Seems like StiffArmyTrophy might be trying to hedge their bet a little bit on this year's Heisman.

We also analyzed the GAP between the winner and the runner-up. It appears that every year except 2004, we overestimated the gap. In other words, our numbers had a larger win than the actual totals. (That's not too surprising - after all, voters who vote for the favorites are more likely to disclose their vote than ones who vote for long-shots and underdogs.) In 2008, we projected a 5.7% win for Bradford, and it was 4.4%. In 2007, however, we projected a 19.4% win for Tebow, and it was only 9.2%.

In general, over the last seven years, we've overestimated the gap between first and second by 4.23%. In the last five years, 2.58%. This has huge implications in a year where we're looking at a projected win of somewhere between 2-4%.

As a math geek, what this says to me is that they have no clue who is going to win on Saturday and their projection has little (if any) meaning.

  4. Yeah it's a shame. Let both schools prove they belong there instead of just proving one doesn't.

Who would you have them play instead?

No team this season impressed me all that much.

I think Iowa or Penn St. were probably their only other choice..

What more would beating a weak BigTeleven has-been prove?

Sorry for the rant, but I've seen more than enough B11 games on TV this year (knocking my Husker games to PPV) and sick and tired of all the obnoxious Buckeye fans that have been coming out here lately.

Boise fans remind me of the friendly Husker fans back home and I'd imagine TCU fans are mighty nice, too.

    Even the smurfy ones. :madash

I don't think anyone is questioning whether TCU and Boise should be in BCS bowls. We would just like to see them playing so-called "power conference" teams. redout's suggestion of TCU vs. FL and Boise vs. Cincy sounds fun to me.

  5. I live in LA and have to deal with Trojan and Bruin crap all the time. I have no love for either school; I probably hate the Trojans more because their fans are more annoying (they also have more bandwagoners than any other team I've seen).

In this case though, I'll side with the Trojans and Pete Carroll. He was doing the classy thing and taking the knee. Slick Rick had no business calling that timeout. The Bruins were down by 2 TDs with only seconds left, the game was over! Now, if you want to play to the final second, fine. But you can't fault Carroll for doing the same thing. As far as the celebration goes, Pete and the Trojans are super enthusiastic after any score, but they always do a little extra celebrating against UCLA. The Bruins acted like pussies.

  6. I tend to agree with the sentiment that we should win this game handily. However, if they can run the ball on us like they did against OU we could have issues. I think (hope) we can contain their running game, but the front four and linebackers have to be ready to get after it every play. That big RB Thomas doesn't go down easily.

  7. Or how about you take the winner of the MWC and play the pac 10 winner? He mentioned all the great game that would have been played had they played the south winner, well it would have been just as good playing the pac 10 winner. 04 urban meyer led utes playing the leinart and bush led trojans. 05 a 10-1 tcu team playing the again leinart and bush led trojans. I know it probably makes more sense location wise to have the mwc tie into the big 12 but we already have a championship game the pac 10 doesn't so let them essentially have one by playing the mwc champion.

    Much better idea, IMO.

  8. Knapp you're right on the money about us needing to stick to the power run game. I think our front four will be able to get plenty of pressure on Reesing and the D will keep them from scoring too many points. KSU was able to run it down their throats (granted, our line hasn't looked as good as theirs). I think the power I with some play-action passes down the field should be enough. It will be a close game but if we don't give the ball away we can take it. NU 20 KU 13

  10. I don't the the Sooners will hang 42 on this Husker defense -- I think it will be in the twenties though. If the Huskers can must 3 scores and the Dfense or special teams can get one two -- it's a game.

Do I think this O can do it? ...... Probobly not.

The Sooner "O" isn't good enough to put up 42 points on the Blackshirts. They are probably good enough for a couple TDs and a field goal or two. The problem is, our offense has a hard time scoring more TDs than the defenses they play against. And OU's D is much better than MU, TT, ISU, or Baylor's. I agree with your take that we need 3 TDs from the O and some other help, but I just don't see it all coming together. However, I'm sure by game time I'll have convinced myself that we have a shot and should win the game :)

My head says OU 38 NU 13

  11. Come on.....this is only Bo's 2nd year. He doesn't even have a team full of his recruits yet.

Agreed. I'm just frustrated with how the season is going and tend to get a little sarcastic. I believe Bo will get it turned around. But if we're still seeing the type of performances that we've had this season in year 4 or 5 of Bo, I'm sure neither of us will be happy, and plenty of other Big 12 North fans will be.
