  1. This thread is like a blind man making fun of the deaf guy, fail.....

How true. We're only 1 game ahead of CU in the Big 12 North race and we've already had our two easiest conference games. If this keeps up it won't be long before other schools feel the same way about Pelini & Co.

  2. After watching the offensive lines of Oregon and Kansas State tonight, I am seriously questioning whether Cotton is the guy for us in the long term. I certainly don't claim to know anything about playing or coaching the offensive line, but the end result after a year and a half is just way behind what should be expected.

Oregon ran mainly from shotgun, often with the zone read play, against a USC defense chock-full of talent, and had the following results:

49 carries for 492 yards (8.0 yards per carry), 4 TDs

Kansas State ran a more traditional running game, mostly from under center and often with a fullback. They played an outstanding OU defense that came in ranked 3rd in rush defense (70 ypg). Their results were more modest, but still impressive considering the talent differential:

29 carries, 149 yards (5.1 yards per carry), 3 TDs

Both of these lines were getting better as the game progressed, wearing out the defense and eventually getting large chunks of 10-15 yards. They were actually pushing people around and opening up nice run lanes.

Nebraska played a Baylor defense that was ranked 100th :dumdum in the country in rush defense. They have very little apparent identity. They seem to actually get worse as the game progresses. Here is what they accomplished:

38 carries, 145 yards (3.8 yards per carry), 1 TD

This is just staggering. It's hard to blame it on the talent, considering our linemen are probably ranked higher than KSU's and on par with Oregon's. I just don't see any possible way to excuse this. We should have rushed for 250+ yards and 6 ypc against this Baylor team. And we didn't even come close. Something is just not right with the way this offensive line is failing to make any significant improvement throughout the season or throughout individual games.

If we could find a running game, OU proved they can be run on, KState can be run on, KU can be run on and CU can be run on.

If we could just find a damn running game, we will win the Big 12 North.

If we had a healthy group of running backs..........

    :yeah

We were down to our 4th and 5th string backs. Combine that with a line that is below average at best, and you get what we saw today. Our offense sucks. Too many injuries, no depth, uninspired play, poor playcalling, all the above. I highly doubt we will suddenly find a running game. It wasn't that good to begin with, but without Helu and Burkhead this is probably the worst offense in the Big 12.

  4. For all of you idiots that even think Nebraska has a freaking chance against Oklahoma, just remember they racked up 35 points on Bo's defense in the 1ST FREAKING QUARTER last year in Norman.

November 7th will be an epic beat down in Lincoln and Nebraska's over-rated defense with one great player will be exposed.

No one on this thread has said anything about beating Oklahoma. Shut the f*ck up and go back to tigerboard with the rest of the pussies you f*cking retard.

  5.

What do we risk? I suppose we risk potentially not being bowl eligible this season and maybe risk not having a 500 season. But.... we need to ensure that the guys are prepped for next year (and the following years).

We risk not being bowl eligible and under .500 this season with the older guys. If all the older players can produce is 8 turnovers, why not put in the freshmen? They couldn't do much worse than losing to Iowa State.

  6. But right now i feel like the only thing that is giving the Huskers a bad name is the some of the fans themselves.

Maybe, but the other thing giving the Huskers a bad name is an offense that couldn't score on a decent high school team.

  7. Baylor 2 Nebraska 0.

Offense gets sacked for the only score of game.

At least we get to see the two most inept teams in the Big 12 go at it. Battle for the Big 12 basement! Can you bet the over/under on the total number of first downs? Whatever it is, take the under.

  8. Also from Sip, in a blog post. I just vomited in my mouth a little bit.

    * Bo Pelini said it was an easy decision to start Zac Lee over freshman Cody Green. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said the coaches never considered inserting Green into Saturday's game.

"Lee managed a great game, guys," Watson said. "I'm just telling you, he was perfect."

    Perfect? Really?

"As far as getting us in the right plays and doing the things we asked him to do in this game plan, he did a really nice job," Watson said.

That said, the QB issue obviously isn't going away.

Ok, to quote another BAD coach we had not so long ago, "we are doing excellent in every phase of the game." Or something like that. I asked this question in another thread, could some coaches heads be buried in the sand? The article quoted Watson as saying Green is gaining a lot of ground on Lee?

Here are the facts. Had the receievers caught all catchable balls and Paul would have hung on the TD he was running for NU would have won. Lee played really well, not perfect, but really well. THIS LOSS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH LEE.

I was merely pointing out Watson's statement, but, to say that a QB played perfect (or even well), when he fumbled twice and threw 3 picks (granted we got both fumbles back) is a joke.

Lee didn't play perfect. But he cannot be tagged for this loss. Two of his picks easily should have been caught. Mental and physical toughness prevented them, and several others, from being caught.

Two of the picks should have been caught? The one to Gilleylen was arguably catchable but by no means a good throw. The one to McNeill was a poor throw that didn't clear the linebacker. The other was thrown right to the ISU linebacker! Granted, many players made mistakes in this game. If Paul wouldn't have fumbled we would have won. If Helu hadn't fumbled twice we would have won. If Robinson hadn't fumbled we would have won. Even with those mistakes we still had the ball with a chance to win at the end. And Lee couldn't get it done. Very few of the fans believe in him anymore, and I can't imagine it will be long before the players don't either. Like someone in another thread said, he would be 3rd string at Iowa State. He's just not good enough to get it done in the Big 12. Of all the other Big 12 quarterbacks, I could only see him starting in front of the guy at Baylor. He just isn't that good.

  9. What's with the Helu-hating? He shouldn't have been out there this week with a stinger that obviously affected him, but beyond that I don't see why he is a target here. He's really our star on offense when he's healthy. God knows it isn't Lee.

Our "star" cost us the game with his fumbles. One directly leading to three ISU points and the other keeping 7 off the board for us. Face it, we have no "star" on offense.

  10. i dont know, but i kinda liked it. realy sent a message. too bad it wasnt relayed to the game.

I don't know what message they were going for, but the one I got was, "We're all a bunch of f*uckups who can't pull our heads out of our asses and play better football than a decent high school team. But we love each other!"

  11. This is the end of Nebraska football as we know it. Even Callahan wasn't this bad. Nebraska will NEVER be dominant ever again unless they clean house starting with Osborne. After all, didn't he hire Pelini? And don't tell me it's Watson's fault. It all starts with the head coach and the guy who hired him. They all need to pack their bags and Nebraska needs to start from scratch. New A.D. New head coach. New assistants. And definately new players who know how to play the game. Then and only then, the huskers might have a chance to be competitive again. One more thing. The home sellout streak will soon end.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. At some point, fans will start to vote with their feet and we'll become no better than a Sun Belt program.

  12. Agreed. But this is the 3rd game in a row where the players didn't appear ready to play or be mentally in the game. At some point the buck has to stop with the coaches.

Staff in its 2nd year and all you can do it bitch and whine. I'm not happy either but sometimes S**^ happens. Dan Hawks might be available next year maybe you'd be happy with HIM!!!! This kind of B.S. doesn't help recruiting at all.....

You know what helps recruiting? Not putting a team on the field that has more turnovers than points and loses to f*cking Iowa State.

  13. Well this season's lost. May as well play the young guys and get ready for next year.

BULLS#IT the season is not lost. Our defense is dominant. We can still win the North & play for a Big XII championship. Something has to be done about the offense. We don't need to score 50 points every game but 20 would be nice & our defense can keep us in games. If we can score 20 points every game for the rest of the year, we could very well go 9-3

Sounds great, but how the hell are we going to score 20 against OU, KSU, CU, or KU? They only put up 7 against a terrible Cyclone team. I hope they can find the answer, but we're 7 games in and we're getting worse every week to the point that we look to be among the worst of the Big 12.

  14. my question is do we have any decommits even with out firings

Seriously. I wouldn't want to play for this crap hole of an offense. Or for a team that continues to build on its reputation for making stupid mistakes.
