  1. We cut down on penalties, only 2 that i recall.

We went through a slow spot at the same point last season.

we will get out of it.

    GBR

    3 penalties for 25 yards.

Other than the fumble, Robinson had 15 carries for 77 YDS and a TD, not too shabby.

And a fumble that cost us 7, so his day was at best a wash.

  2. We can't go to our run game because we lost our top 3 backs (Helu, Castille, Burkhead) to injuries or being dumbasses. We can't go to our receivers because they're worse than our RB's. Give me Bowling Green's or Tulane's or San Jose St.'s receivers any day. Face it, this season is lost.

Agreed. We're looking at 5-7 at best. Hmmm, last time that happened a bunch of asses got fired. Better brush up those resumes boys.

  3. Ah yes, here come the meltdowns.

Yeah, it's definitely gonna get VERY ugly now...

Why shouldn't there be meltdowns? After a performance like that, at home? This team doesn't have what it takes to win. After seeing that sh!t we call an offense we'll be lucky to make a bowl game. Every other Big 12 North team looks better than us. even K-State! OU will destroy us again. Maybe we can beat Baylor but I don't see much beyond that.

This team has regressed unbelievably through the season. Its too bad that Suh's senior season is such a waste. I wish his heart would rub off on the rest of the team, but they're all proving to be a bunch of losers.

  4. If it doesn't matter who is behind center than we might as well start Green because ...well it doesn't matter.

If it does matter who is behind center than we might as well start Green because Lee just hasn't been very good.

Now Green might not be the answer I know, the whole offense has to play better, but I believe it's worth a shot. If it's too early for Green we can switch back to Lee. You gotta try. Lee had his chances.

That's just it. The offense has sucked against real competition. Sure they had a good 4th quarter against MU, but after Saturday that looks more like a fluke than anything else. Obviously there are many problems that need to be fixed, but its not like we have another great offensive line waiting on the bench or some awesome receivers yet to see game time or some great stable of RBs like USC. Quarterback is the one place we can make a big change. Its time to make it.

  5. Just because someone has questions about how good the Huskers are doesn't mean they are biased against the Big Red or anti-Nebraska. Half the people on this board have questions: about the offense, about the secondary, about the playcalling. The Huskers haven't done anything yet so far this season to show they're the front runners for the North. Hopefully that will change on Oct. 8.

  6. What kind of crap is ESPN trying to pull?

Qouted " there’s that Heisman Trophy winner named Eric Crouch, but he was more of a runner anyway. Tommie Frazier, all he did was run the option and win national championships."

    http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/36...-not-unexpected

I dont like that kind of talk about Frazier and Crouch, someone needs to give that editor a piece of some Husker @$$-whoppin'

Still though good to see Lee has confidence in himself, makes me feel confident about Saturday.

The writer was subtly trying to be sarcastic, but apparently it didn't get through to everybody.

:laughpound Yeah it got through to me. Sometimes I swear people are just looking for the negatives about Dear ol' Nebraska U.

    :restore

Seriously. I just read the article and don't see how it in any way could be construed to be negative about Nebraska, Crouch or Frazier.

  7. Good recap. While there are areas that need shoring up, the guys performed well for the first game. Next week hopefully we'll see some of those things ironed out, i.e, fewer dropped passes, fewer penalties, etc.

At least those are things that can be corrected and we're not questioning heart or how hard the guys are playing anymore!

  8. a little off topic, but related...

last night I was watching a re-run of LA Ink and Kat Von D was sporting an old school Cornhuskers shirt. It was hot.

I heard that as well, I was going to mention it but you beat me!! I actually didnt see it on the show, I heard about it from my wife and we decided to check it out. We didnt see it, if you remember the exact let me know as we DRV'd the show.

BTW- her voice is deep for a girl, is there something I didnt pick up on that I should have?

and now a dancing corn cob

    :corndance:corndance:corndance:corndance:corndance:corndance:corndance:corndance

It was season 3 episode 5, "Tick, Tock Biological Clock". As far as the deep voice goes, as far as I know she's always been a girl.

  9. Back to the subject..

Complacently is causing us to lose out on early targets which is becoming the norm to commit early. Our coaches IMO need to stay on top of this. I agree with a post I read somewhere that behind OU and Texas we should get the next best class in the conference because we are Nebraska..

    Just sayin.

Good point. I'm in no place to judge the coaches effort in recruiting. That said, by February 6, we should expect to top the Big 12 North (at the least) in the recruiting rankings. If not, it doesn't matter how hard they're working, they're not getting the job done and changes will need to be made.

  10. Just read Cy's post and suddenly... a really... well, crazy thought flashed into my mind.

If sCUm has another bad season next year and they end up axing the Hawk. They might take a run at Watson and if he goes there, then we pick up Hawkins as offensive coordinator.

As I said a crazy thought and I know I'll get a lot of heat but then it is August.

  11. I said in my post that I love the coaches, and I do but there is noooo reason why we should only have four commits, absolutely no reason at all. Mizzou has like 10, KU now has probably close to 10 and we have four? Our two biggest north rivals IMO, programs who are not even close to the level of NU have two times the number of commits we have. Unless the coaches have some hidden targets that aren't on rivals or scout we are going to be wayy behind for this recruiting class to our conference. I know UT, OU and Okie St. have an advantage so I expect them to be ahead but for KU and MU to be pretty much out recruiting us can only speak poorly of the coaches recruiting tactics.

    :yeah

    well said sir

  12. Suh is probably better the Carriker was, however, Carricker had Cosgrove, Suh has Bo. Pretty big difference there.

Even with that being said, I felt Suh might walk out of here beinght ebest DT to ever wear the uniform. You don't just walk in as a Defensive lineman and lead your team in tackles, sacks, defensive touchdowns, and tackles for a loss and suck

Once upon a time, I thought Jared Tomich was the best DE to ever strap it up for the Huskers until he came back for his senior year. His sr. year was filled with double teams, and he just never got the stats. Last year, Suh had Steinkuhler to take the heat away from a lot of the doubles. I guess it's a wait and see time how he does statistically this year. I have to admit that for the first 3 games of the season last year I'd have been willing to give him to any other team out there due to his emotional outbursts. Yet, he reeled it in and have a very impressive season. It will be interesting to see how he follows it up this year.

Great point. I wouldn't be surprised if Suh has a statistically unimpressive season. Teams will game plan to stop him; he'll constantly face double and triple teams. If the LBs can step up though, they will have the chance to make a ton of big plays, especially with the way Bo and Carl like to blitz.

  13. :) There is a lot that can be read between the lines there. Some good, some not so good.

Interesting that when asked if Zac Lee was ready to be the starter, Wats didn't really give a direct answer; he just talked about how much Lee has "improved".

Maybe it's meaningless, but I would have preferred to hear: "Absolutely he's ready. He's next in line of great Husker QBs".

I guess we'll just have to wait til the fall...

  14. I'm pretty confident that Nebraska, Mizzou, Kansas and Colorado will be the top four teams, but predicting the order is pretty difficult. Here goes...

    1. KU - when in doubt, go with the team with the best QB (at least that we know so far)

    2. NU - D should be best in the North

    3. MU - if Gabbert is the real deal the Tigers could easily win the North again.

    4. CU - will be better than last year but will lose several close games with costly mistakes

5,6. ISU, KSU - these teams may only get 1 B12 win between them: whoever wins when they play each other

  15. In addition to how improbable it is for a defensive player to win the Heisman (not to mention a DT), Suh could have a difficult time putting up eye-popping numbers this fall. Not saying he won't be dominant, but he'll be facing double and sometimes triple-teams all year long. He'll be the MVP of the Blackshirts (maybe even the team MVP), but the stats may not reflect it.
