  1. I agree, but some offers are far more important than others. Can you really tell me that the Evans offer, now a wr, was just an important of an offer as it would be if White would want to commit? Or are you telling me that landing Cotton would be just as big of a get as landing Cooper or OO? Landing Cotton was like going to the bunny ranch and getting laid.

Can you really tell me the opposite? During recruiting would you have rather had O'Hanlon or Major Culbert? Who ended up being the better player?

I don't want to rehash the whole recruiting rankings debate again, but how can you possible decide White is a better offer than Evans? It's all just opinions.

Which one got shuffled around between offense and defense? <_<

  2. I don't know, it seems to me like a lot of the times we've blitzed this season we've paid for it as the opponents have picked up first downs anyway.

    :yeah

The almost TD that Asante saved was all thanks to a blitz package.

  3. Said this trip helped solidify things.

Also said that the Watson rumors were addressed and that he will be back next year.

wow think abotu that for a second... if true he was unsure about coming to NU because he was unsure that Watson might not be around!!!!! wow was Watson really under that kind of pressure or is thing whole thing blown up real big out of proportion???

Totally understand his apprehension, why go to a school if your position coach is going to be gone the next year.

  4. I think Okafor will go ahead and leave for good, he's buried on the depthchart with two of the guys in front of him being true frosh. That should open a slot up. Somebody else will likely leave too, it happens, just hard to say who right now.

Maybe somebody from the receiving ranks.

  5. There is a difference to passion and bullying. I think his anger is unacceptable, the only thing that redeems him, regarding anger, is that I think he is probably hardest on himself. However, I do not see how yelling at Cotton helps the line play better.

Bullying? Oh, please...My old high school coach's temper makes Pelini's outbursts look like a Sunday confessional.

Ever do up-downs in a sand bur patch practice field the next day for committing a penalty on game night?

    :yeah

You want mean, travel back to '94 with me and sit on the sidelines during one of my high school practices. By comparison, Bo's a freakin saint.

  6. Did your brother and high school teammate have a brother on the team and his dad as a coach? I would bet not, so the odds that Cotton walks on go up dramatically. Like I said, I'll give ya Evans possibly attending a smaller school that gave him a schollie and I am aware of guys like Dietz and Hinz this year choosing to go other routes. I'm aware of James Davis last year choosing to go to Ohio or Homer, I understand that. Cottons situation is completly different with his dad on staff tuition goes down. His dad makes damn good money anyway so its not like he couldn't afford to pay his full tuition if necessary.

Jake couldn't take the reduced tuition without being on scholarship because his dad hasn't been employed for 5 years. It's in the NCAA rulebook.

There are players on our team right now that are on scholarship whose parents make a LOT more money than Barney Cotton. Perhaps they should have all walked on too.

There are players on our roster whose parents are former players, yet they are on scholarship.

Really, your arguments don't hold a lot of water. I'm sure you didn't bring up these same arguments about Ben because he was Rivals rated and had several other offers. You are only bringing these up regarding Jake because he isn't rated and doesn't have other offers. The coaches felt he was worthy of an offer. I'll hold judgement until he either proves or disproves this.

Who are they? Were they instate probable walk-ons receiving scholarships as freshmen?

  7. Hope he didn't watch tonight's game. There's a lot of time between now and signing day NEXT year, and we've picked up some really good OL players, specifically Rodriguez and Moore (if we keep either of them). I'm hoping it will be enticing to him to run behind those guys.

    Fixed it for you.

  8. Figured it needed a singular thread since there will be about 20 threads popping up over the next few hours about the same exact thing.

I also figured since I defended him last week that I should be he person to start this thread.

I literally have no idea what Watson tried to do all day. I can understand limiting the vertical routes last week, but the only time he took a shot downfield today was one time with Cody Green. Not once did we stretch them out or even make them think about someone deep.

Our WR's need to be thrown away. If Niles wants to PR simply because we don't have anyone else to do it, fine. But in no way should he be a starting WR. Cooper and Brooks should start, with Curenski running the slot to stretch defenses vertically.

Our run game is fooked. Nothing else to say there.

Blow it up and keep Cody in there. Start the future now regardless of how much we will have to scale back the offense and the mistakes that will be made.

Also, someone should maybe start a Barney Cotton thread. I've stated my thoughts on Barney in the past, but if I start today with what I think I know I will get ban.

Okay, everybody else now, have at it .. vent ..

Good assessment. I can't think of an acceptable word in the English language to describe this game.
