  1. I'm still waiting for someone to suggest a suitable replacement in the middle of the season. There isn't any aspect of the defense that looks good, so who can you promote to the new DC?

Tech promoted from within. their situation sounded very similar to ours. the Iowa st team that got 400 yards and over 100 plays on us only had 170 against them when they started subbing in people LATE in the 4th. so there is certainly precedence for this type of a move.

And once again...who should we promote and why? Who has shown the least bit of promise on our defensive staff. Not to mention who has show the least bit of promise running the entire defense, let alone just their respective area?

This is pretty typical of this argument. "Fire him and bring in...anyone."

    "Who?"

    "I dunno, anyone."

    I'm still waiting.

Heres a novel idea.........Let Callahan take over the defense and let the O.C take the Offense for the rest of the year.I mean really, how much more worse can it get?

  2. I was also told that Venables was a coach at NU awhile back( or a low ranking asst.) I dont recall him ever being at NU and I've been watchin the sker's for 35 years now. If Venables was to come here, what better person to scheme against his cousin Bob? ( I think their related?)

God bless Tom Osborne! GBR!!!!!!!! :bonez

  3. Heard from a friend here in god forsaken Manhattan ks. that Brent Venables has gotten some back door mention of coming to lincoln. I dont know if some feelers have been put out or what...........Anyone else heard anything about this?

    GBR!!!!!!! :bonez

  4. But if you read the whole story Prince asked Mack Brown how he dealt with having an ex-coach always around(royal I think) Brown told him to embrace the ex-coach it's a win win scenario :clap

  5. I am not a basher....I'm trying to remain positive after spending the day with knowledgeble fans from many conferences from across the east and southeast....they put these thoughts in my head.

The wifey and I were returning home Saturday night after a watch party with K Staters Saturday afternoon in downtown Atlanta and the fun we had with them. These fans we spent the day with were very good football fans and KNOWLEDGEBLE.

After arriving back at the airport and heading home back to Topeka and playing out the remaining season back over and over in my head I finally stated to the wife....I don't think I can honestly mark any remaining games as a 'gimme' for the rest of the season.

Now KSU will not be intimidated coming into Lincoln after their impressive win in Austin on the road.

Now, CU will welcome our visit to Boulder after upsetting OU.

A&M, KSU? I'll be in Lincoln at the Memorial 'doing my best to protect our home' GO BIG RED

I don't hang out with K Staters...in fact I loath the entire state....the Idea that you would consider that a quality place to live makes me disregard anything that you might want to post about NU....I don't mean this as a personal attack and don't want to offend you, but I would rather have Afaganistan as a state before Kansas....I can only imagine that you are forced thru some kind of a wittness protection program to live there.I feel sorry for you....seriously, I do.

I mean , LOATH the state....why in the world would you want to live in second rate place like that....you do realize that you are below Mississippi, Arkansas, W. Virginia and every other state in the UNION!.....Kansas, give me a break.....I need to go outside and puke!

Yo Skippy, you must not have a job or family to support. Those Husker fans who have both, in the state of Kansas do what we have to do. Grow up and quit bashing! :wtf

  6. Coz has turned our once proud Blackshirts into the Black Skirts now. After Callahan goes through his scripted plays he seems to go into his regular shell. One of the things that made T.O so good was the way he could adjust. This coaching group just doen't seem to have the ability to adjust at all. I never see Callahan let Keller change plays at the line of scrimmage, I think he should have that option. Oh well on to Ball St. chuckleshuffle

  7. Defense First:

Grixby, wasnt really challenged but the one time he was it was same sh#t different day. He forgot to look for ball.

Its not that he forgot he is coached to look at the receivers not for the ball. Everyone in our secondary is taught to face guard, or react to the player not the play. Until that is changed we are not going to get better IMO.

Do you know this for fact, or are you just speculating? If it is indeed correct, what keeps the opposing QB from simply throwing it a little short? The receiver will be the only one that sees it and come back for the ball. If our DB is faceguarding, he'll either A) give up a big pass play or B) get called for pass interference. When I was in high school, we were taught to keep our eye on the receiver until his eyes got big. When his eyes got big, it meant the ball was about to get there. As soon as we saw the receiver get wide eyed, we were to turn around and try to get the ball. I realize the high school level is a lot more elementary than college, but faceguarding is just not what I would think is recommended.

There is no face guarding in CFB

  8. hskerprid im pretty sure that was culbert.

thenarse had one hit that i remember of but it wasnt a tackle it was just a hit. kinda unecessary hit too. but he might have had a tackle or two.

My Bad! I looked at the tape this afternoon. What was culbert thinking? :hellloooo

  9. Uh oh? We want people like KSU to win big games. We want the Big XII to win these big out of conference games.

Yeah I know, But I live in Manhattan and I hate to see KSU possibly beat a team that we didn't handle in the bowl game.............I'll never hear the end of it!! :madash

  10. I disagree with keller's pick being a bad luck, he threw into double coverage. it was a bad decision overall, and he threw another one that should have been picked as well. overall he definetley could have made better decisions and thrown it away a few more times.

I agree it seemed like some of Kellers throws were a little late. But Keller will be much more settled in game #2 "we always make the most improvements between the 1st and 2nd game" I think Callahan will take the cuffs off of Keller alot more for USC! :box

  11. Don't forget too that smashing the run is still expected from Nebraska. We're giving very little away (except that we can still run, go figure) by pounding the ball down their throats for most of the game. Just another good thing about that aspect of it.

Great running by Lucky today...But let's not forget that Nevada is no WF or USC. Anyway, Lucky did look good though and Castille is gonna be a monster! I hope we can keep blowin em off the line to give Lucky the opportunities that he had today. GBR!!!! :corndance

  12. Hey everybody, has anyone seen the ABC regional coverage map of the Nevada game yet? I sure hope I can get it here in Kansas. Hopefully they wont be showing Mizzery or the Jayhawks. I went to ABC but they don't list any particular teams. Please post it here if anyone knows!!

    GBR!!! :restore
