  1. I call him a lesser version of Demorrio right now because he hasn't shown that he can be as good as Demorrio. Demorrio ended up being a 4th round draft pick and he ran a 4.5 in the combine and I haven't seen any predictions anywhere that have Octavien being a higher draft pick than 4th round. To predict Octavien to be a better edge rusher right now than Demorrio was would seem foolish, at least to me.
  2. Hey Everyone, I just wrote an article in which I discussed the loss of Carriker and Moore and how that will impact our defense this year. I looked back at the 13 times since 2002 that a college team has lost their starting 2 defensive ends to the NFL Draft and I think I gained some good insight. I then tried to apply those insights to what I know and have heard about the Nebraska DE situation and the overall defensive situation for this year. Here is the link to the blog: http://gobigredfootball.blogspot.com/ Also, towards the bottom of the blog you will see an article about Marlon Lucky and how he is primed for a breakout year. I analyzed his stats vs. those of his contemporary Rivals100 running backs from the 2005 recruiting class and found some interesting stuff. Anyways, feel free to comment either here or on the blog about any of my writings. Thanks, txhuskers
  3. I only counted those in that class whom Rivals described as RB's because the article came about as a response to one of my friends constantly telling me how Lucky was overrated out of high school and has done nothing compared to the rest of the running backs from that class. A quick glance over the Rivals100 from 2005 shows that yes, Darren McFadden was an athlete who turned into an excellent running back and there are also two others who somewhat fit in that category as well. Those are Henry Melton and Montario Hardesty. Melton has since converted to DE and many of the criticisms that of Jamaal Charles would also apply to Henry Melton. Hardesty has not done much though.
  4. Hey guys, New to the board and I am impressed. It looks like there are lots of big time Nebraska fans here. Anyways, I look forward to joining in here and posting and discussing the Huskers. I also wanted to let you know that I have just started a Nebraska football blog. The blog is in its infancy stages, but the first article I posted is an in-depth analysis in which I wrote about Marlon Lucky and how he compares to the other Rivals100 running backs from the 2005 recruiting class. I plan on keeping this blog going for as long as possible and welcome any content suggestions from all of you guys. Here is the link: Nebraska Football Blog Thanks and GBR!
