This is the first time I've tried to post on any message board. I'm doing so to alert Husker fans of Nebraska related items that will be auctioned off at a benefit dinner for Maggi and John Pivovar in Omaha on Aug. 24. The dinner site will be the indoor baseball-softball facility at Creighton John is a former Creighton baseball player (he played on the 1991 CWS team). His wife Maggi had to have both of her legs amputated after becoming ill with viral meningitis in late April. John and Maggi have four boys, ages 11, 10, 5 and 20 months. Family and friends of John and Maggi are holding a golf scramble, dinner and auction on Aug. 24. Among the Husker related items that will be up for auction will be: Authentic NU football helmet, autographed by one and possibly all three of the starting quarterbacks from NU's five national championship teams. Autographed volleyball and chair from the 2006 Final Four. Alex Gordon autographed baseball, bat and Kansas City batting helmet Bill Callahan autographed football Two tickets for a yet to be determined 2007 Nebraska volleyball game In addition, we will be raffling off 4 club level seats to this year's NU-Creighton basketball game plus a $200 gift certificate to the Omaha Chop House We have numerous other items, from airline tickets to autographed George Brett, Joe Montana, Cal Ripken, Ryne Sandberg, Roger Clemens items. A lady donated a $600 fur vest in case you forgot your wife's birthday because you were too busy posting on message boards. Anyway, if you can pass the word to other Husker fans.
