This is the issue I have with talking about facilities - I don't get the feeling that most anyone saying that is really looking at the entire picture to compare.  DiNardo's comments about Purdue are a perfect example.  No only does he say that Purdue is better, he says it isn't close.

Now, Purdue's new facility is very nice.  It definitely has us in the bells and whistles department.  And that counts for something.  And their weight room is noticeably bigger than ours.

But I get the impression that when most people talk about one place having "better facilities" than another, they tend to look at the newest and shiniest and stop there.  I have no problem saying that part of Purdue's facilities are better than ours.  Although I don't think our lockerroom and players lounge are really "not close" just not as flashy (which might be what they are referring to).  We could probably add $30k worth of lights and a big screen and you'd hardly be able to tell the difference.

But I don't think that's the entire picture.

Their stadium is basically as old as ours but holds 2/3 the fans and does not appear to have anywhere near the additions and renovations that ours has.  They have one indoor practice facility while we have two.

So they win in weight and locker rooms but we have significant advantages in practice and game facilities.  I can see how someone might give them the edge in flash but I think the overall picture is much different than what some are portraying.

Totally agree...Nebraska doesn't have bad facilities. Its a great setting and atmosphere. Does it need upgrade? Yea, its probably time but a lot of people are mistaking that for bad...that couldn't be further from the truth. Nebraska has a great set up and doesn't look like a multipurpose room like some of the newer ones. Im not saying we don't need to upgrade but facility talk always implies that what you have is bad. Frost said this at media days. Theres a fine line between talking about the future facilities to give to recruits and talking as if what you have is bad which recruits could believe as well if you talk too much about upgrades. When Nebraska does a project they do it right and will make it one of the best again but as it stands now its still a great facility set up

  2. I agree. No matter what has happened in the past or sick we are to see us right now it’s time for everyone to just start getting behind Frost and the program again because that’s what’s best for the team and really all we can do on our part.

It’s easy to compare iowa and Wisconsin to Nebraska’s blueprint but I feel Wisconsin is closer to it than iowa. I just feel iowa is the type of team that upholds the big ten reputation and blueprint within the conference and nationally. They have a great fan base, always will be tough to beat on the road or just period but something is just missing when it goes to anything beyond being a solid big ten team. Wisconsin is everything I just described with iowa but with a little more firepower or something I’m not sure what it is.

so while I would take Iowa’s blueprint I feel Wisconsin is what we should be striving for as far as results and expectations. Compete in the big ten first  but have the expectations to compete beyond the big ten. Not be satisfied with 8-4 and always have an eye on the national scene something I don’t think iowa does or expects to do really. Not trying to knock them just explaining what I see in the difference between iowa and Wisconsin

  3. I hope the walk on program is strong again and not to be negative but I just don’t see it being what it was. Back when college wasn’t so expensive Walking on at Nebraska had value that was higher than accepting a scholarship at NDSU.  Now you can’t argue that. If you think of it as the money you’re paying and the value you’re getting than it’s tough for kids to accept a walk on spot at Nebraska.

  4. The idea of getting the roster to huge sizes again with every team captain from small town America on the squad is not the answer. Just get the best in state players and as many as you can to walk on instead of going to NDSU for example and be happy with that. It won’t be what it used to be! NEBRASKA IS 20k a year in state and ALMOST 40k out of state!!!  The Dakota schools and Wyoming while nothing close to Nebraska have some value to them now because of that.

I think first thing they’re looking at is obviously what they’re doing now, what it realistically could be and how could they make it better...if they truly believe they can get it back to what it was with huge numbers roster wise like the 90s then title IX would come into play as far as numbers. It’s not just scholarship but number of female and male athletes total. They would have to think of a women’s sport to add or force women’s programs to add walk ons themselves. You may see other men’s sports force to reduce numbers but that’s aboit it. It would be a really bad deal if they cut a men’s program for a reason like this but that’s probably not even in their thinking because it would be a really bad look in the eyes of the big ten and even our state. I think simply the cost of college nowadays vs then is just going to make it very hard to make the walk on program what it was however it can still be great and I believe frost will make it great again. It doesn’t need to be 200 people to be great just keep the good talent in the state home.

I have tried, but they are extremely dry. USC still entertains me from time to time, but you can really tell when either Bishop or Peterson are in a mood, or when they just flat-out have nothing planned for a segment. Heaven help you if they're by themselves, but Peterson is at least tolerable. The times when their producer chimes in are probably the most entertaining.

I didn't know Nick Bahe's wife had an account.

Ha...I guess after reading it does sound like that but just was kind of surprised on the opinions of his show

  7. I can’t believe how many people say they dislike bahes show. I know a lot of people who love his show so while this is a small sample it’s still surprising. There are times his takes are so good that I wish the AD or head coach could here what he has to say. He really understands the landscape of Nebraska and college athletics. Same with Damon Benning. Damon understands things that many of us don’t always think about when it comes to a college program. I also think Bahe is really funny at times but I like when he’s serious too. I only listen to 1620 so as far as the afternoon guys I think they’re great when they’re serious and on topic. Every so often I have to turn them off because they get so obnoxious but overall great listen.

  8. I would love to have him come back to Nebraska and coach someday. Get a few more years under his belt and I think he could be a great coach to have around here. Qbs, o coordinator after a while. He's got a lot of great coaching qualities and I'm sure is being groomed heavily by Mike Sherman his father in law

  9. I will eat crow as well. I was feeling sorry for this kid because how hard a decision it was and in way just because of his age I still don't blame him but his support staff and himself need a reality check bc the way they handled all this is a fast track to nowhere and total cowardness. This has nothing to do with the fact that he didn't pick Nebraska

  10. I'm sure JC is going crazy right now but I think he's going to Wazzu unfortunately. This is a blow by the way but nothing against our coaches. We really wanted him and Nebraska is an unbelievable place to play football but I just have a feeling he didn't like Lincoln that's why it's hard to say no. I also think his uncles and mom want him to be the star somewhere and for some reason they think Nebraska isn't the place...maybe bc Tyjon Lindsey? I don't know but he could be here too most definitely. I'm sure it's hard for him I just hope he's getting advice with his best interest in mind

  11. With all this being said about banker and Riley I think our local media has become exhausting. Theres been a lot of drama among husker football the last 15 years that they've had a lot to write about and business possibly has been very good but the last few years it's getting close to crossing the line and become tiresome. It's dramatic anymore and they're just wearing things out

Can confirm that he's in my poly sci class lol

How much attention do players get?

Daishon Neal walked into 9:30 class at ~9:55 today, wrote his name down on the attendance sheet, said hello to the professor and walked back out. She just kept teaching. She chastised someone for being late who showed up at 9:40.

This is exaggerated...I never noticed athletes getting treated any differently whatsoever. It's a common thought that just isn't true. They do the same work you or I did

  13. It's just tough to recruit here but it's great guys are coming to campus atleast. The exposure will keep us in the game and eventually a few guys will commit which is when it can really open up the doors. We already spend a ridiculous amount on recruiting and facilities...no matter what people say about parity our facilities are still ahead of the game and the amount we spend on football recruiting is onenof the highest in the country and only going up.

  14. I haven't read a post but just wanted to say that listening to some of these sports writers and husker recruiting guys on the radio and reading their articles is pretty exhausting. Don't get too excited about them because these guys are rarely right and just like to get people intrigued. Really think about it...they don't know anything more than we can find out when it comes to having an idea which direction a kid is lean

It's their job nothing against them because that's how they make money but don't get worked up about it. The credibility of these guys for me gets lower and lower every year.

I'd like to remind anyone watching this thread that just a week ago we thought there was zero chance we'd even be on a short list for Darnay. The surge in possibility at the end of the week was exciting, but let's not crash and get all negative if/when we hear that he's not coming here.

There are very good players that have committed to Nebraska, and we'll hopefully see Calvin do so today. Let's celebrate that and the recruiting wins - not go down a rabbit hole of negativity.

I agree, but this was the class that was going to change that narrative. This is a typical nebraska recruiting class that is hovering the the 20's or 30's in rank. We have a few fresh that will come in and contribute, a lot that need a redshirt year and some weight and speed to get ready for the next level. I am not going to be disappointed if we don't get holmes, but if we miss out on Lewis, Johnson, Lenoir, and the rest of California connection it will be disappointing and hard not to be a little on the negative side. The probable finish for this class is right around a 25 ranking, which seems to be the status quo. We saw on the field this year that the talent needs to change for us to get out of the 4 loss rut. Here's to hoping we land some big guys to finish this class.

I also agree with this. One of these years we need some of these star powered guys take the leap and jump on board because it would of make a difference. these coaches are doing a great job getting them on campus which is a great start. It's a matter of time in my opinion

    Totally agree with this.

Darnay's girlfriend just posted a tweet of pic's of Darnay. In one picture, he's catching a pass with a Cane's billboard in the background. It's over.

And then she posted a happy message - so he's staying in LA. No way that she's happy if he's leaving.
    This. He's staying home
