  1. Busseys interview with recruiting corner he said he is very committed to us but I get the feeling Husker fans questioning him is pushing him away. Some Husker fan bashed him right after the interview because Kendall wanted to use a visit possibly somewhere else. We just need to leave this one alone. He is committed to Nebraska and helps recruit kids to nebraska. End of story

Could not have said this any better and I think this is something that needs to be stressed on here. In the video he made a comment that he is still solidly committed and the narrator even noted that Kendall is trying to recruit others to follow him up here. That is good enough for me. He is 18 years old, weighing all his options, and enjoying his time in the spotlight - how can you fault him? What worried me the most was that he mentioned he has seen blogs with Husker fans judging his commitment. No recruit should have to deal with that crap, especially one that has been trying his hardest to persuade others to come up here. Just my $0.02.

  2. As someone mentioned above about listening to Mike and Mike this morning, you can tell these kids are gunning after the money. The front is that they want to be protected from injury, but it ultimately comes down to greed and those players wanting a slice of the pie. I know this isn't the most adult thing to say, especially because I find the Northwestern-Nebraksa games entertaining, but I'd love it if the university just said, thanks but no thanks were shutting the program down...how many other players from other schools would second guess their decision to try and strong arm their university? Btw, Northwestern athletics as a whole come out about even when you look at their balance sheet.

  3. If they become labeled as employees, could just start paying them minimum wage and they would have to pay all their tuition and expenses out of their own pocket.

If universities end up having to pay players, it would kill DII, DIII (no scholys currently) athletic programs. Might as well just cut all sports

I completely agree that the DII and DIII programs would be toast, not to mention probably several DI programs. There was a USA Today article last summer that mentioned how only 23 of 228 public institutions across the country generated enough revenue to cover their expenses, with 16 of those receiving some sort of subsidy. Here is the link to that article.

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2013/05/07/ncaa-finances-subsidies/2142443/

I find it kind of ironic that we are all concerned that the huge revenue generate from these large television networks could drive college football to form 4-6 mega conferences, with 16 teams or so per conference but I think that unionization could do the same thing, if schools are forced to pay their players. I understand that the Northwestern athletes are not asking for pay now, as someone mentioned above, but this is slippery slope we are starting down. I understand that these players are frustrated, seeing how much revenue the programs generate, but at the same time a lot of that revenue goes to help fund the Olympic sports operating at a deficit. Is it fair that coaches, ADs, and others are making more money than the deserve? Probably not, but that is something the athlete knows coming into this. It is ultimately their decision to sign the LOI. You would hope that the coach also outlines how demanding the commitment to college athletics is, I know that several of the coaches I talked to during the recruitment process did (scheduling classes during these hours hours, when practices were, what time study hall was, etc.).

What concerns me, and this is way out there and getting away from the main point, is lets say that one day a decision is made that the athletes' scholarships are earnings and thus taxable income. At what point does someone rise up and say it isn't fair that other students on academic scholarships, should be considered employees and their stipends and scholarships should be taxed? I just have a feeling that there are several ripple affects that could be felt down the road from decisions based on this issue and it has the jeopardy of ruining the university system as a whole. Again, off topic but a thought that sprouted in my head after reading this should be interesting to see how this plays out, although I am assuming it will be many years before we get a final decision on this.

  4. First, before it seems like I am hijacking the thread I am extremely happy with the hire of Warren, seems like only good things to come with him. Definitely seems like a guy that gets the players amped up, as well as establishing great connections from a recruiting standpoint. With that being said, did anyone else notice some of the defensive players having what looks like helmet stickers? I know starting at the :50 second mark, when they show Warren locked up with the player it looks like either skulls, or crossbones. I'm not entirely sure if this is the case, I tried to look through the rest of the clip and it looks like there might be a couple more instances of players with stickers on their helmets. Sorry to get off the main topic just wanted to see if it was just my eyes playing tricks on me.

  5. Iowa 26 players in the NFL Neb 23 (Unless you want to count Incognito as your own) then it's 24. Just another stat that your program isn't what you think it is.

Pulling out stats like that is about as relevant as us showing you up in consecutive sellouts and Academic All-Americans determining today's performance and/or state of our programs. However, if you'd like to start playing that game we'd at least be able to beat you at something today.

  6. 38-17 Sober now, but might have a drink or two tonight! Love the arrogrance of some Husker fans saying Iowa and Nebraska is not and will not ever be a rivalry. Let's face it Huskers are not who they were in the 80's/90's. They are a very good program, but elite they are not and have not been for years.

Love the arrogance of an Iowa fan not being able to realize the patchwork husker team on the field today. Injuries plagued this team for a good part of the year, congrats on the win but I'm sorry we will never view y'all as a rival. We haven't had a "real" rivalry since the big 12 ruined Nebraska/Oklahoma.

  7. Just left the stadium, absolutely the loudest I've ever heard memorial stadium. Granted, I was in the south end zone but you would've thought we won a national championship. I'd say it even beats the 08 Colorado game, fortunate enough to be there for that one. What a hell of a play! GBR!

  8. How about this?

    Most Coaching Wins since 2008

    Coach -- School -- Wins

    Nick Saban -- Alabama -- 62

    Chris Peterson -- Boise State -- 61

    Gary Patterson -- TCU -- 54

    Bob Stoops -- Oklahoma -- 53

    Les Miles -- LSU -- 52

    Brian Kelly -- Cin./Notre Dame -- 52

    Mike Gundy -- Oklahoma State -- 50

    Frank Beamer -- Virginia Tech -- 49

    Bo Pelini -- Nebraska -- 49

Playing devil's advocate, he is the only coach on this list that hasn't won a conference championship in this time period.

  9. Okay, let me toss this out..

    Jersey guy

    or

    Shirtless guy

    or

Button down shirt with tie guy (like in the south)

Which do you think it worse?

Not that it really makes a difference, but most of the time when you see someone in shirt, tie, and blazer at the southern schools they are usually pledges. After pledgeship, you are allowed to wear whatever you choose. I usually just toss on a polo and khakis, they seem to do the trick.

Really? I thought it was mostly all the frat guys, not just the pledges.

Some still do, you're right, but for the most part you'll see polo and khakis. The first couple of months are too hot and humid to tailgate all day and then go to the game in anything else.

  11.

Your QB could see that the receiver was covered. If anything, he should have thrown the ball away.

The receiver was covered, but that never stopped him from bringing down the ball before. The pass was tipped, great defensive play by Alabama. UGA did everything they were supposed to do, and an Alabama Defensive Lineman got his hand on the ball.

Instead of talking about whether the ball should have been spiked, how about Morgan not missing his field goal in the first half... how about not letting Alabama run Lacy right straight up the gut for 200 yards in the 3rd quarter, how about not having to punt with 2 minutes left and wasting time outs with a great defensive stop.

UGA fans aren't making excuses, but when you or anyone else wants to start talking about how this or that could have gone this way or that way, you can take that back to the corn field circle jerk. Maybe we should talk about your conference championship game.

    You bucktoothed corn cobs.

And I just sent you a nice PM.

All of that garbage you just spewed doesn't make a freaking hill of beans. It came down to the last 10 seconds, your team got to that point, game in hand and choked. It's pretty simple. It sits with your QB, he f'ing blew it. Period.

I'm not 100% sure, but when I originally watched the play it looked like Georgia's QB was intending to throw the fade to the corner of the endzone. The ball ended up being tipped and unfortunately, for Georgia, the 5 yard out was not their friend.

  12. I'm not sure what irked me more. This BS call, or the obvious hold that resulted in Wisky's first TD...

Again, the call ultimately did not affect the game but I couldn't agree with you more. The OL had his arm wrapped around Ankrah's jersey. However, who knows if he would've made the tackle.

  13. I regret to inform y'all I did not possess the winning ticket. So there goes all my audio system improvement funds. On a serious note, does anyone remember the song used for the first couple of games in 07? It had a different beat but corny parachuting antics and voice from the Saw movies, I actually didn't mind the beat it had.

  14. I'd say an 8, with some of the reasons mentioned above. Our schedule sets up beautifully for a potential undefeated season heading into the CCG. As someone mentioned, finalist will be determined by then and like another individual stated, as impressive as the stats are the team needs to be successful overall as well. I know there are abnormal cases, RG3, but if he performs like he has lately there is a great shot. I feel that our offense next year will be absolutely deadly, however Abdullah might steal some thunder. Your bet will pan out better than my Arkansas Razorback +8 1/2 on total wins!
