  1. I thought the most efficient play calling was when we would get those little yellow bean bags tossed at us consecutively. It always seemed to work out well. Ok, in all seriousness I didn't mind Beck's play calling I thought it was becoming progressively better from the UCLA game. However, Martinez still has that tendency to fall back to old form and lob passes to the flats or down the field - note key interceptions. I absolutely lost it when Martinez began arguing with Bo and Gantz on the sideline, the kid is arrogant as anyone and I want to know what his arguement was based on? Even if the receiver was suppose to run a different route, Martinez threw the ball with his purse and it looked more like a pop fly than a collegiate quarterback. Alright, I'm finished with my rant, I really think these next two weeks will be a blessing in disguise, Bo will whoop them into shape and we will go 6-0. The only game that scares me is Michigan. Other than that, I see an easy schedule ahead. Personally, I think Northwestern is overrated, but who knows. I hope everyone has had a chance to digress and realizes at the end of the day, we still have a shot to end up in a better position than last year.

  2. As stated above, maybe each corner should "simply" say TOM OSBORNE FIELD. That would serve a broader purpose, and more meaningful one.

My point was not to be condescending, simply more to the point that like smartphone "apps", most users today have no problem being able to find the necessary site they want. We are a nation of Googles. Bings, etc., etc.

    #huskers is "obvious".

The reason Tom Osborne Field is not placed on the field anymore is due to Tom's request. In his typical, humbling personality Tom did not want an additional spotlight put on him. Not arguing for or against the #huskers, I do use twitter but will not be at a right state of mind come 7pm Saturday, but I was hoping to clarify why Tom's name isn't on there anymore.

  3. Although it was at the end of the play, I enjoyed when Kenny jumped over the Arkansas State bench/fence and motioned to the crowd. That kid seems to have his priorities in line, and truly enjoys the game of football, feeding off of the crowd. He is also humble, in an interview last year -can't remember which game - he was brushing off the questions, trying to have the interviewer talk to Stanely Jean-Baptiste instead.

  4. Lines aren't determined by some mythical group of guys running things in Vegas...the initial ones are set by experts and then move according to the action on them. The reason that lines are usually a good thing to look at is that contrary to what people believe, the lines don't move because of public or fan money (As in, a bunch of cornhusker fans betting on Nebraska isn't the reason a line would move in our favor). The main reason they move is that most of the money on these games is placed by extremely informed betting sharps who make their living (or a ton of money aside from a regular job perhaps) betting on sports. Looks like the line has already moved from 4.5 to 5.5 which tells you something I guess.

Don't forget that the game is at UCLA which is essentially 3 points in their favor over what it would be on a neutral field.

You nailed it right on the head, take the bama Michigan line for example. With bovada, the line was set early at 14 points and as the week moved along and people placed bets for Michigan to cover, the line slightly moved down to 13 1/2 right before kickoff. Fortunately for me, I took bama and unlike Mayweather, I will not have to pay out $3 million.

You know what I notice? It's pretty crazy how similar our stadium is beginning to look to the Shoe:

It's funny that you mention that. The original construction of Memorial Stadium, in 1923, was modeled after Ohio Stadium. I'm not sure if you were insinuating that or not, if you were my apologizes for the sarcasm going right over my head.

  6. After reading the article on huskermax, the reason prince is getting hazed his second year is because of his broken foot, which resulted in him missing the first half of the season. None the less, I think what goes on in an NFL locker room should be taken with a grain of salt. These guys are merely joking around and now they are being scrutinized for "dangerous actions" and "hazing".

  7. My last bottom line to clear things up from my end:

If you don't want to get patronized on what it's like to be in a big time league, then drop the acting so surprised about how things went in Madison. No one doubts that you are a wonderful, wonderful, historical program coached by Bo Pelini. It's just puzzling that such a wonderful, wonderful program would spend so much time complaining about the same issues that schools like Indiana and Minnesota do.

well its kind of a wakeup call when you are a new member of a conference and have to deal with it on your first road game. I went up to the Michigan game, sure there are some a$$hole$, most of them were just the college kids when we went to party with them at 9 in the morning, but for the most part they were glad we were in the conference and i heard that hundreds of times. "Thanks for coming, see us again soon." "It's great to have a program like yours in our conference now." and much more. From what i heard, the things that went on in Maddison were equivilent or worse to a road trip to Missouri or Colorado.

Playing devil's advocate, I believe one of the reasons for the discrepancy between visits to Ann Arbor and Madison might be in part to the time of the games. A, you have a night game in Madison, allowing students to do enough beer bongs, power hours, and other assortment of drinking games to become pretty lit, I mean, I know I was. B, Ann Arbor was an early day game, where most students were trying to fight the hangover from the previous night, unless of course it was a fraternity formal. Now, I am not saying the time difference is the ultimate reason for difference of atmospheres, however I do think that giving students the opportunity to drink all day would allow for a rowdier bunch. Again, I know many naysayers will not allow this to be any sort of justification, but Madison is known as a party school so obviously the alcohol might have something to do with the experience. Just look at some of the other examples on this board, 02 Penn State and 07 Virginia Tech, both night games and resulting in numerous negative experiences. It is exhausting for everyone involved on this post to continue to bicker back and forth, ultimately only upsetting the opposite parties more. At this point, it only makes sense to agree to disagree and move on, Jesus, is it football season yet?

We did not play VT in 2007.

I am sorry, that was my mistake. However, my point should've still been able to be understood, there are some hostile environments where night games are less favorable for the visiting fans experiences, compared to the day games.

  9. I never wear red. Only 12 saturdays a year for about 5 hours or so.

My wife wishes that was the case with me because 3/4 of my wardrobe in the closet is Husker apparel

exactly 3 things in my closet polo, brooks brothers, and husker gear

Our closets are identical. Can't miss with the horse, golden fleece, and Herbie

exactly must be the southern upbringing (assuming by UGA husker) that allows us to share the same ideals

  10. Pretty short interview, Rome asked Pelini about Martinez said the kid is calm and not overly cocky, and he is far from his maximum potential. Then went on the defense asking if it was better than last years squad and of course in typical Pelini fashion, said there are things that need to be worked on. I love his mentality never happy till a championship is won, which he stated as well. He was also asked about the Texass game and Pelini said that the team cant worry about it yet, after k-state. Good short interview but nothing more than what we've already gathered from Bo.

  11. I like the new jersey just a couple quick comments, first although the shoulder numbers look really high I bet once the pads are on it will be closer to last year than what people think. Second I think the urine yellow stripes will come back I think its just a matter of the jersey getting worn. I also like the 2001 jerseys with the high socks, however the sleeves still had two stripes. I know I seem a bit picky but just giving input.
