  1. Unless I missed a memo, isn't every home game a red out? Unless there is something different going on like a "black out".

If you are going to go to the game wear RED!!!

    Pretty simple deal!

  2. Just scored two tickets to the VT game!! Co-Workers husband fell ill and they couldn't make it ( wish him well) but HOT DAMN! my first night game and I actually talked my wife into going with me. NO she wont be wearing the avatar attire ( unless I can talk her into it) :thumbs .

Maybe if we beat the tigers she would show us the kitty?

  3. Here's how we roll:

    1. Have a couple frosties at the car.

    2. Head for the Watering Hole on O Street (great burgers and the BEST hot wings)(Oh, yeah. Cold beer!)

    3. Slip into Sandy's about an hour before kick off and get a pitcher of Elk Creeks. It's like Sunny D but will knock you on your ass!

    4. Get a Runza at the game.

    5. Postgame at Sidetracks

    6. A night cap at Libations with a cigar. A mellow way to end the night.

    7. Alka Seltzer in the morning!

  4. Had to put this post up. I'm from Brookings, South Dakota so it is hard to get the pulse of Husker Nation.

We were in Lincoln this last weekend for my Grandpa's funeral. He was a lifelong Husker supporter and a season ticket holder for 50+ years.

It was exciting for me to feel the optimism in the air that bringing in Bo Pelini has brought. Had a chance to visit with a number of friends, family, and local residents and it was almost universal that they felt Bo was the right man at the right time. The comments weren't laced with unreasonable expectations that we will be be back to the Big Red of the '90's in no time flat. Several commented on restoring traditions like the walk-on program.

We are going to get back to playing NEBRASKA FOOTBALL which is what we all want to see happen!

Finally, wanted to tell you about the great experience we had. I have two girls (6 and 4) and the only thing they wanted to do was to go to Lincoln and go inside the stadium. How is that for little Husker fans? We went inside where the weight room was and were greeted by a very nice man. He told us where we could and couldn't go. We then told him where we were from, why we were in town, and our connections to the program. He told us to wait just a minute and returned and gave us a personal tour of the whole facility. My kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. So did this kid! It was a very classy thing for him to do and my thanks go out to him. We then headed over to get the girls "Bo Big Red" t-shirts.

This Husker fan is very excited about where we are headed!

  5. I love the black out idea but it would have to be an early game unless they are going to give out parkas!

I was there the one time we wore red shirts and red pants against Oklahoma a bunch of years ago and we got our asses handed to us. I think TO said that would be enough of that! Things have changed an awful lot since then. There is so much more of an entertainment factor in athletics that make the time to try something like this right. And besides, we are at the bottom right now, if we do it now on the way back to the top it will make it part of the "Pelini Traditions"!

Please, please don't bastardize the idea like the Oregon Ducks! Those uniforms are uglier than a sack full of crushed a$$hole$! That's ugly my friends!

A return of many of the old traditions would also be extremely welcome! Pancake blocks, red shirts, Unity Council, walk-on program, Herbie Husker, and on and on and on!!!! That's who we are!!!!

  6. SDSU is in their last year of transition to Division 1 in all sports and the FCS division in football. Like I mentioned in an earlier post. I'm in favor of Nebraska avoiding FCS teams but if they are going to play one, I sure am glad it is SDSU!

That makes the non-conference schedule of Western Kentucky, Idaho, SDSU, and Washington.

I am in favor of having one good test in the non-conference season and a couple "tune-ups" but like you said, just ask Michigan about that Appalachan State tune-up.

  7. I bet SUPERBUNNY is stoked.

Probably... hoppin' around and what not.

    :moreinteresting

I have to say you are correct about me being fired up about this. I'm not a fan of Nebraska playing FCS (1AA) schools but I have to admit it is very exciting for SDSU to have this opportunity.

It's preaching to the choir on here but for the student athletes, coaches, and fans of SDSU this is unbelievable opportunity! When we announced the move to Division one five years ago, it was a dream to play Nebraska in sports such as volleyball, wrestling, baseball, cross country, and other but never did I imagine a football game against my beloved Big Red.

My family is from Nebraska and I was born there so Big Red is in the blood. We have lived in Brookings for a long time. Our family has had season tickets in Lincoln since the '50's. Our seats are ninety rows up in the North Stadium so I am hoping I can get a closer seat when the Jacks come to town. Probably won't pick a side on that day. The way I see it, I'm a winner either way.

Sidebar, I love to see all of the Jackrabbit haters from USD come out and flame against SDSU playing UNL. Jealousy will get you nowhere. Have fun in D-1 transition hell!

    Go Big Red! Go Jacks!

  8. I will neither bash IBR or totally accept his word as gospel....

You can absolutely take to the bank the fact that IBR's information is 60% gospel! Bank it!

Can't wait to see if IBR redeems himself or throws himself further into the Rumorville abyss!

It's sure to be a good read either way!

One thing is for sure, if his prediction comes through it will be amazing to see how big his ego gets. It's only at 60% full of himself right now!

  9. Then don't read it. Take it for what it's worth. Some people here might be happy to know that I heard the same thing ESPN reported. I didn't even know ESPN reported it when I went on here.

Don't read it if you don't want to. And bash me if you want I don't care either way.

I also can give you the contract details and also which assistants he already said he would keep but you would shout BS anyway.

Best of luck haters. I won't bash you for your great views of BC rules and IBR is dumb.

No hater here but I have to say this is a little late. You either knew something or got lucky on the first couple. Then all of Husker Nation waited with baited breath for the next IBR report. Then that last prediction didn't quite pan out.

IBR you have a short window to redeem yourself (if you want, you may not give a flying duck) by revealing the information that you claim in your post above. Give us the contract details, who stays, and who goes. If it comes true you are once again IBR "Big Red Nostradamus" if not you are no different than any of the other tools putting BS rumors out there.

    That's my chalenge IBR!

  10. I've been reading this stuff and took a couple of steps back to think about it.

Let's look at a few things that we know:

    1. Osborne and Perlman left on a plane that went through Baton Rouge on the way to Atlanta. That confirms Pellini is one of the candidates.

    2. Gill is a candidate due to his ties with Nebraska.

    3. Nebraska is required to interview 4 or 5 (read it in other threads) including a minority candidate.

My thoughts. Top two are Gill and Pellini. TO probably doean't need much of an interview with Gill since they know each other so well. Pellini gets the in-depth interview in Atlanta.

Who are the other two or three? My bet is window-dressing to meet requirement. Monte Kiffen interviewing to do his old pal TO a favor. Craig Bohl would fit that bill as well and could be a phone interview.

That would clear the way for either Pellini or Gill to be named quickly. I like the both theory but doubt it would happen.

What do you think? I think I'm either on something or onto something!

    "

Let's hope TO is taking this thing a little more seriously than that. "I'll pick between 2 candidates and make equal opportunity people happy by screwing around with another 2 or 3." He has the chance to find the next great coach for Nebraska, I hope he is looking at this like a great opportunity and not just let's get this over with. He should let whoever is interested and he's interested in get the chance to blow him away in an interview. Otherwise we have the wrong guy looking again.

I hear what you are saying Captain K. I would say this, I'm the "head-hunter" firm in Atlanta is doing the leg work on a number of candidates. My point is that if TO has Bo and Gill as his top 2 than by doing what I suggested above it gives him the best opportunity for a quick hire. If one of those two isn't deemed to be the guy then they start down the list put together by the firm after TO reviews the list.

This path proves to me that TO is giving this search its due diligence all the while moving at a very quick pace!
