  1. Bo's always kind of favored his starters. You see it with Taylor a lot-- he stays in the game during blowouts, doesn't come out if we're losing big, etc.

I don't know if it's on Bo or Beck, but I wish Braylon got more touches too. As good as AA is, I think Braylon is more of a natural runningback. I think he's got a little better vision and follows his blocks better. And the fact that he tried so hard to get here, has switched positions multiple times, and still doesn't get more carries with Burk down would be maddening if I were him. Ultimate team player. I've got a lot of respect for the kid.

I'm not really sure it's safe to say Braylon has better vision. There's a reason AA returns punts and kicks. Either way Braylon seems to have some explosiveness no other RB on our team has. Seems like when he does get out there he always make a play. I guess we'll see going forward. Just glad we won.

  2. I wondered the exact same thing. Blocking the guy who is supposed to cover a receiver makes the game MUCH easier. I won't blame the whole game on the refs, but they sure didn't help in some key situations. Now, all of those false starts and holding penalties...shot ourselves in the foot the entire second half.

  3. What I've never understood is that everyone is so concerned with Bo leaving. However, Bo is going to move down. Right now he's done decent at Nebraska, but hasn't won anything. So, all of the big name schools like the LSU's etc. most likely won't come beating down our door for him. Why would they want to hire someone who has done decent at a very good program? That's not usually how it works. If a bigger name comes calling it's going to be because he won something here....which in turn would be GREAT for us right? Those schools want someone proven, or a young up and coming guy that has moved up the ranks (see Urban Meyer and his career). Bo's not leaving for a lesser job, and right now the LSU's of the world are calling him. That could all change if he starts winning conference championships and making BCS games....which in that case Husker fans will be totally happy, and maybe he won't leave at all because we are actually producing. Same school of thought, if Nebraska is winning, and he's getting better recruits because of it, why would he want to leave here? Unless for his dream job, which just hired Urban Meyer.

  4. I've learned these guys get paid to make EXTREME guesses, IMO. They have no idea who is going to pan out in the NFL. They don't know who the next Tom Brady is. I like watching the combine and all, but these guys try to base everything off of size, speed, whatever....football players know how to play football. When you play extremely well for a DI school like Nebraska in Big 10 football, you can play in the league. I'd love for someone to sit them down and have an interview grilling them about past players they didn't rank high, bashed on, etc...that are now extremely good players in the NFL. I'd love to hear their excuses, because they act like what they are talking about is certain truth.

  5. Look, articles like these frustrate me. This isn't an "all or nothing" situation.

Just because a fan is critical of Bo doesn't mean she/he thinks Bo should be fired. Just because we criticize the game played doesn't mean we are, to paraphrase Will Compton, "the world."

I had concerns about Solich too, but I definitely didn't think he should have been fired in 2003 -- that staff deserved more time. And, frankly, I think that staff had some serious potential.

Bo will earn his contract or get fired all on his own.

But self righteous, passive aggressive junk like that is what really causes division.

Not sure he's talking about people just being critical towards Bo. He's speaking about people calling for Bo's head. Which has been evident even on this board ALL year long...hell even after wins. That's who's he's speaking of.

Best line in the whole article... "Which leads you to wonder, do Husker fans even know a good coach when they see one?". My guess mainly NO. Unless they win a NC, the fans he's speaking of will think coaches are bums.

  6. Sorry I completely disagree with this. How do you define the level of expectation? You have say 85 guys with scholarships, all of which can't play at the same time. How in the world do you say what their expectation is? You're going to tell a kid that he's good enough to work is butt off every single day, take classes, go to practice....then if he doesn't get on the field or play well on the field you are yanking his scholarship? That's ridiculous. We need every single player we have....no matter if they see the field or not. Some guys only get playing time because others get hurt....maybe the player above him is just that much better. I mean, what about the guys that had to sit behind Suh? Is it their fault they had a superior player in front of them? You can't gauge expectation.

Additionally, no player in their right mind would want to come to Nebraska if they knew they had a chance to lose their scholarship because they don't meet some undefinable level of expectation, then not be able to transfer and play for a year.

  7. I know coaches tear their hair out with the dilemma of whether to play a talented kid who doesn't practice well. Should everything they have been preaching since fall camp be thrown out the window as to practicing 100%? I don't know the answer but I hope they can figure out how to put a better product on the field next year.

This is something I'd like to touch on, as I still haven't quite seen what I'm looking for in this thread.

Many names are being mentioned for guys we want to see play, but that's not what the OP is about. We've stated players we want to see out there, but no evident support as to why they aren't, save for injuries which knapplc touched on.

More or less, for those who think we're not playing who we should be playing, what support gives you that conclusion? Do you play somebody who doesn't practice well? Do you play someone who is just as risky to make a bonehead play as they are a good one at this point in the season, and is that worth the risk to you? Do you know for a fact one player deserves to be out there over another?

The overwhelming question is - do you trust the coaches?

I'd venture to guess that no one has any proof of a player being better than a player on the field. Turner caught balls early, and it's easy to remember those because everyone was so excited about him. I highly doubt anyone can remember anything wrong that he's done on the field....but I guarantee you the coaches know.

We all think we know the best player for the job, ESPECIALLY after a loss. But from you OP, I highly doubt anyone can show any type of proof.

  8. First, I do agree, particularly since Swift and Pedersen left, that the wideouts have NOT done a good job of going and GETTING the Bloody ball. I don't know if that is "will" or rather just not being aggressive.

However, in the WRs defense, I do think they run a route and are "thinking" about where the ball will be, assuming it won't hit them on target. Thinking is a recipe for disaster in football.

I don't agree, because if the ball is on target and hits you in the hands how can you over think that....you think they are surprised its not target and they all of the sudden drop it out of shock? I believe our receivers (and a lot of receivers that drop balls) are too concerned with what they are going to do after the catch before they actually catch it. Lack of focus.
