Totally old thread I know. But Noah is my cousin, and it's really interesting to see what was said while he was being recruited. Obviously biased, NU missed out on him big time. 2 years of over 100 tackles, with 146 his Junior year. Injuries have plagued him a little....but he's NFL bound. Ohio plays tonight on ESPN, Go Green!

I want us to win all of our next games. That's probably obvious for ANY Husker fan. That's how I want to make the CCG. However, if we happen not to win all of our next games it would be nice to have Michigan lose to Iowa. I want to see us play in the CCG (hopefully by winning out). But bottom line I want to be in it. Also, I want one more football game to watch NU play. So however we get there, we get there.

for weeks we scream "GIVE BURKHEAD THE BALL, LET HIM POUND THE ROCK" - a few days after we dominate one of the toughest rushing defenses in the nation doing just that, we get "THE FRESHMAN AREN'T GETTING ENOUGH TOUCHES".
to all of you whining about the freshman riding pine while Rex dominates a must-win game.
YES THIS ^^^^^

We have mismanaged how we use the tFR (fab-3, Turner and Bell). We should have RS'd Turner & Green/Heard. You can see the frustration setting in with AGreen....... And next year with Rex back, IDK.... how they're going to get any more PT
Agree, Green is getting frustrated. He's learning that the old run-end-around-the-tackle-for-a-touchdown may work in high school, but not college. I don't see Green transferring, however. Unfortunately, I could see Heard transferring since he's down the depth chart. It's unfortunate since all three backs are great.
At some point don't they need to realize they are Freshman? They are getting some PT, but they are behind a back that is MUCH better than they are right now. You want to play a lot on Saturdays, beat the guy ahead of you. Don't transfer because you can't beat him out. I think these guys can be good, but have to realize that we are in the middle of a TOUGH B1G schedule, and I want Rex getting the ball A LOT more than a freshman RB who's never experienced D1 college football. Rex played his first 2 years because he was good enough too. He didn't transfer because Helu was in front of him. And now look where he's at.
I'll tell you this, if they transfer because they don't get handed playing time....see ya. Work your butt off and prove you are worth playing.
While I definitely agree with this, one has to also look at it from their point of view. We recruited three RB's. Someone whether it be the players themselves or the coaches decided not to redshirt any of them. Basically, they all three are losing a year of eligibility when two of them rarely see the field. My dad used to call this too many roosters in the hen house. Heard is averaging around three carries per game. In three games, he didn't even get a chance to carry the rock. Aaron Green is averaging just over 2.5 carries a game and did not get a chance to carry the rock in two games. I think all three of these RB's are better than David Horne, but Horne even though he was redshirting until they burnt it after the first five games saw significantly more playing time than these guys.
I can tell you this....99% of players want to PLAY if the coaches will let them. How can they seriously justify getting any of them a lot more snaps when you have Rex Burkhead as a junior on your team? Crap, their's freaking threads about the possibilities of Rex and some word called Heisman. But lets get these guys a lot more reps? If we start blowing teams out...sure why not. But I'm sorry, I'm about winning first, and Rex gives us the best chance.
Additionally, if they RS'd 2 of these guys everyone would be screaming about getting them playing time...they need to develop, blah blah blah. Sorry, Rex had earned his spot and he carries this offense. I don't want to see our best player losing potential carries our team needs because we feel like we may have "burnt" some read shirts.

My brother and I have a running bet that at least one if not two of the fab-3 RB's transfer. Personally, I think AGreen is as good as gone.
And this is based upon.........?
It is based upon small little tid bits of info. I pick up from time to time. I remember hearing over and over how Cody was a team player and would never think of transferring, but last I checked he's no longer on the roster. They should have shirted at least one if not two of the fab-3. If they all stay for next season, Rex better be willing to sit quite a few plays out or we'll most likely lose two of the fab-3 the following year.
You're info is probably a little out dated. He (Green) was very frustrated earlier in the year and it was pretty well know. However the past two games he come around after he got in the game earlier and played a bigger roll against Minn. I saw him for a minute Saturday and he appeared to be in very good spirits which wasn't the case after a few games earlier in the year.
The log jam at RB will clear up after this season. There is a very strong possibility that Ameer could try defense as they practiced him during the by week when we were searching for additional players at both DB spots.
Sucks for Ameer if that is true. I remember the article about him and he came to Nebraska because they told him he would be able to play RB. All of the other teams scouting him wanted him on defense.

Embassy Suites before the football game is good. Free to get in, live music, etc. Also you can check out the N Zone in the Haymarket.

HiSD--Is it possible that the coaches feel like the young man has some things to learn? Maybe this is a long-term lesson that's being taught here.
Hard to tell. If he is screwing off or not playing hard, then, yes, it's a lesson. However, I get the sense that he simply lost the practice battle and didn't get to play. I could be wrong, but if I am right, then it's ridiculous that he could not come in for a single play. If we have seen one flaw with this coaching staff it's that they want to play the top 22 and nobody else.
Didn't they hand out 20 blackshirts?

It's hard to believe he leads the team in receiving, when he barely sees playing time. Kyler Reed, Jamaal Turner, Kenny Bell, Rex Burkhead, Quincy Enunwa, these are the play makers that we have been in need of for a VERY long time, yet we rely on Burkhead to handle 95% of the load. If we want to last through another 6 games, we have got to practice better ball distribution.
Everyone you mentioned there is a WR/TE besides Burkhead. We are a running team. A running team everyone has been begging for, for a very long time. We also have a QB that isn't Peyton Manning. So, add those two together and it's exactly why we rely on Burkhead so much, he's our best player on a running team. The others touches are going to be minimal...like a few times a game.
Additionally, we have 3 freshman RB's besides Burkhead, which is why they don't get much PT in big games like MSU. We've won championships running the ball and having minimal ball distribution.

Very very odd that he didn't play. It's funny to hear "leads the team in receiving", and have the discussion of him not playing. Either way, I can't complain because we played great against MSU. Hopefully he see's the field the rest of the way out.

Glad you had a good time in Lincoln. Majority of the fans are great, I'm glad the occasional db didn't give you a hard time at all.

NU - 42
NW - 17
Passing: 125
Rushing: 280

I believe the D has come a ways ... it is without question getting better. I especially like what I see in the DBs. The word is still out, however, whether this will translate into stopping a running QB. My understanding is NW has a running QB? I don't know much about that team, except they are among the bottom ones. Thus, if they have a fairly decent running QB, that will be a test for the improvement of our D.
NW's QB, Dan Persa, is pretty good runner. However, he has been struggling with turf toe so he probably won't be running too much. And if so, it won't be too fast. He does have a very good arm however.

I can't say Minnesota since they just won last weekend.
This is finally something Kansas CAN win....they win worst team.

I'm here from HP now too. The site was fine, then a bunch of tools came to the site and started posting. And needless to say, it's super lame now with a bunch of idiots posting about nothing. Ready for some Husker talk here. GBR

As stated, if the side judge says he's fine, he's fine. If he didn't check with the side judge, and he was THAT far offsides, he would have called it easily since he's standing right next to him.

I was wondering about this during the game. Seemed like they had a TON of injuries during that game. And I started thinking the injuries were happening when we would have a positive play or two.
Michigan @Iowa: Who do we want to win?

Totally agree. You catch breaks during the year, every single team does. Colt McCoy went down in the National Champ game...you think Alabama isn't claiming their win? Be realistic. YES, we want to win every game.....but if for some reason we don't, and another team loses that gets us in....I'm totally fine with it. I mean, if Ohio State makes the CCG, you think they are all upset because they played like crap for a while and feel like they don't deserve it? Any team that makes it is happy, and had to win enough games to make it...plain and simple. That just means the conference is beating each other up.
