  1. How many high school QBs are lining up to run the option?

How many NFL teams that they may aspire to play for run that offense?

15 years ago it was a lot easier to find a Tommie Frazier, Scott Frost, Eric Crouch, or even Steve Taylor. It still starts with the QB--but it's a question of the type of QB. It's a lot easier nowadays to find one that can throw the ball than run a 4.5 40.

  2. This sellout streak is in place because Husker Nation has been instilled with a sense of pride for their team and coaches. It has been in place for so long, not necessarily because the Huskers won every game, but came out with intensity and were able to compete with any team. I am not necessarily in favor of a boycott, but I can not see people paying so much, investing so much time into , and cheering for a team that is so bad. I usually go to at least a couple of games every year, but not this year. It is hard enough to listen to such pathetic football on the radio and to watch on it television. This kind of play tears the heart out of life-long Husker fans. It is an embarassment to the state and to the players. If this kind of play keeps up, I do not see the streak lasting long.

insanity is to keep supporting and buying the same crappy product.

I will continue to wear my husker gear with pride, and will watch the games, and be happy to be a husker fan...but I refuse to pay over $100 to get in the door (not including parking, food, etc) to see them lose to mediocre teams.

  3. The sellout streak is one of the coolest records in sports as well

I hope people keep showing up and cheering the skers on...Don't give up on this season just yet

Maybe if they went w/out selling out a game it'd send a message.

If anything it'd maybe make them drop prices a bit so I could actually afford to take my kid to a game.

  4. I was also told that Venables was a coach at NU awhile back( or a low ranking asst.) I dont recall him ever being at NU and I've been watchin the sker's for 35 years now. If Venables was to come here, what better person to scheme against his cousin Bob? ( I think their related?)

God bless Tom Osborne! GBR!!!!!!!! :bonez

the guy looks capable and knows how to run a defense.

I'd be happy with that. Only question is if BC has the stones to can his friend.

  5. The guy has had a hard few months. I hope he just does what he needs to do, but I agree that I selfishly hope to see him out there. Hopefully the team (and the fans) can rally around him and let him know he's got people that care about him.

  6. Unfortunately there really wasn't anyone else in the mix. Callahan was our only option because, our AD didnt think his firing of solich through. He didn't have anyone lined up to take the position so we spent 4 months trying to find a coach. Note to Pud: When firing a coach, you should always have someone lined up already to take his place. As far as I know Pud didn't offer the job to Pelini so he left, which is the dumbest thing ever. I still don't understand why Pud didn't offer him the job. The guy was a defensive guru, and last i checked defense wins championships. You can always bring in someone to run the offense, but defense is what gets it done.

And now this thread will turn into Solich v Callahan and how much we hate Pud. I think this is the 3,393,678,498,801,001 thread on this.

Whoa...um...there were quite a few folks in the mix. Houston Nutt, Sean Peyton, Bo Pelini, Turner Gill--all of them were either approached and/or interviewed for the job.

Honestly, I was hoping that they would have hired Turner Gill, but I was happy with the Callahan hire. I didn't see why they would have went after Nutt, and considering Bo's past (never stayed more than two years w/a team, if I recall correctly), I was more than hesitant to give the reigns to Bo (though I would had liked him to stay on as DC...especially now.)

I'm not sure how anyone can say they'd rather have had Wanny. After what he did to my beloved Bears, it would have taken decades to recover from what he'd have done to NU's program.

Pellini? He just wasn't ready to be a HC at the time. Other teams have interviewed and turned him down as well since then, I believe. I'd have loved to see him stay on as DC. I still wish BC would ditch cosgrove and bring him back. But I don't see it happening.

I also doubt Turner Gill was ready to be a HC. Maybe in a few years...well, that'd be different.
