  1. I like Jim Rose. He seems like a genuinely nice guy who loves what he does. I would love to sit down with him one day to talk NU football, however, I just don't like him as an NU announcer. I have nothing against the guy, I just don't like his announcing style.

That being said, I thought it was rather funny when Rose and company forgot to turn off their mics during a few commercial breaks for the A&M game. Anyone else notice this?

  2. First of all....Did you watch the KU - A&M game? Do you remember when A&M came into memorial stadium and ran all over us? The point isn't that they ran all over US....it is that they ran all over us in OUR STADIUM. KU held them to under 100 yards rushing IN KYLE FIELD.

Yes, I did watch the game, and I do recall A&M beating us in our own stadium...but I guess I don't get your point. If a team is bad...who cares whose stadium they are playing in...they are bad. That's it. There's nothing else to it. The stadium does not charge our players up to make them super football players all of a sudden. If that was the case, I think we would have a better record than 4-5.

So KU held them to under 100 yards. Okay? They still only won by 8 points and like I said before, all it would have taken was one play by A&M and the game could have ended differently. The same can be said for their victories against KSU and CU, which are the only "good" teams they have faced this year.

As far as your argument about "you want them to beat a good team"

A: They went to Manhattan and beat K-State

B: They went to Boulder and beat Colorado

C: They went to College Station and beat A&M

Last I checked it was pretty difficult to win in the big XII on the road.

Yes, it is hard to win on the road. But like I said, if KU's opponent comes away with a big play in any of those games, KU might not have been on the winning side of the ball.

And I want to make this clear....I AM DEFINITELY NOT sitting here trying to tell you that I think KU is a national title contender, or even that I think they can compete with OU(because I think OU will stomp them). I am simply saying, lets give them credit right now, because THEY DESERVE IT.

So, I should give credit to them right now? Hmmm...okay. Good job KU! Way to beat a bunch of crappy teams and three "okay" teams. Yeah!

  3. Nebraska would MOST DEFINITELY NOT be where KU is...even if our schedule was as easy as theirs

KU has absolutely dominated every below par team they have played. Let's not forget, they spanked (I know it was only 8 points, but if you watched the game, you know it was NEVER EVEN CLOSE) A&M at Kyle Field. This was THE WEEK AFTER THEY KILLED US IN MEMORIAL STADIUM.

I don't mean to be rude, but this type of thinking doesn't make sense. Your main argument in this sentence is that since KU "spanked" A&M by...........8 points, then KU must be a good team. You also add more evidence of KU being good by saying that since A&M beat NU at Memorial Stadium, this makes KU a better team. What!? In order for this argument to hold any water, NU would have to be a great team with a great W-L record...NU has neither of these. Following your logic, since A&M beat NU, and KU beat A&M, then this means we need to respect KU........ I wish I knew what you were smoking, because I would like some...

Listen, I am not trying to say they are national championship contenders, or even BCS.....because i don't know that they are......

HOWEVER, I am tired of people not respecting Kansas. What else do you want them to do? THey have won every game they have played....fairly easily as well

I want them to beat a good team. Sure they faced three okay teams...but they barely won those games. These games were all close; they could have gone either way. One interception from the opposing team and KU may not be undefeated this year still.

Let's give the Hawks some credit. They are a hell of a lot better than we are!

I will give them credit when they do something significant. And saying they are better than us isn't saying much at all. I'm pretty sure Baylor could beat our asses, should we respect them too?

  4. Oh man. I knew he got knocked out of the game because I heard Ganz's name being mentioned by the TV announcers (I was getting ready for a costume party during the 4th quarter and cranked up the TV volume so I could hear it in the other room...yes, I do have a radio, but I can't stand Rose's announcing). That's too bad for Sam if he is indeed out for the rest of the season. I feel bad for him.

On the other hand, we finally get to watch a mobile QB in action (I'm assuming Ganz is going to continue leading the offense?), something I have been waiting for. Too bad he has to start his first game against an undefeated Kansas team...

  5. I have heard Gabbert isnt as good as some people say he is.. Great player at practice but doesnt do well in game time.. Just what I heard so not sure if I should really care if he stays or goes.. I guess I just dont want to see him playing for Mizzu or any other big 12 school...

    This sounds really familiar...

  6. The coaches, players, and announcers were pumping up the NU team as if they were going to be a force in the Big 12. I read and heard all of the interviews before the season started and felt like we might have a fairly good team this year...but I was thinking, "I will believe it when I see it," but I was very optimistic and excited to see when NU could do this year.

If you think about it, there is no reason why we (the fans) would think that NU would be doing this bad. Our offense seemed to do fairly good at moving the ball and putting points up on the board last year (I guess that's the difference between Taylor and Keller). It also appeared that while our defense was not wonderful last year, it definitely wasn't too bad. I figured they would improve on the negatives last year and become even better this year.

I was wrong. The offense doesn't seem like they can get anything going, and when they do, they somehow always manage not to convert in the end. They aren't even using the right freakin' players to optimize the offense's performance. The "defense" has completely crumbled, and we are lucky if we keep the opponent's offense to under 450 yards per game.

Horrible practices, horrible coaching, horrible play calling, horrible strategies. That pretty much sums up NU's year.

  7. Anyone think that Nebraska could possibly get Bobby Petrino to take over next season? The guy got into a mess in Atlanta with a very bleak future ahead for the franchise. I think he would jump at the chance to get out of there before his career takes a hit, as the Falcons are in bad shape.

    No more NFL coaches...please!?!?

  8. I feel like some of you folks want so bad to dislike Callahan that you'll grab on to anything. Lighten up and let things play out. If you want to be all in a bother that's your business, but demonizing someone seems all rather pointless.

I agree. People are just picking at him and overanalyzing everything he says just so they can hate him. Just let him do his job to his full potential. I know it hasn't gone like he planned so far this season, but it's not like at the beginning of the season he sat down, kicked up his feet and said...

Callahan: "You know Coz...we really need to do bad this season. I think this year, I will send the offense out there and for the first 1 or 2 games our offense will look promising...but then our offense should stall against Mizzou and OSU. Man would that show those fans."

Cosgrove: "Yeah, and maybe the defense could give up over 500+ yards per game. Oh, and also maybe the defense could be almost last in the nation in all aspects. Man...that would really get those fans going."

Callahan: "Okay...that's our goals for this season...hey, you hungry?"

Cosgrove: "Kind of...how bout some fast food?"

Callahan: "No, I don't think my stomach can handle any greasy food...you up for Indian food?"

Cosgrove: "Oh yeah, that sounds gooooooood. Indian Oven sound good?"

    Callahan: "Yeah, let's go."

  9. So, we all know NU isn't doing so swell this year, and it looks like we will struggle to get one more win this season. What should NU change to have a better chance at winning in the future?

    I think NU should...:

    1) ...GET RID OF COSGROVE!! Seriously. Please get rid of him. He is horrible. 3-3-5 formation WAS NOT working...don't you think the strategy should be altered at that point? Believe it or not, sometimes a strategy has to be changed because it is not working. Other teams change offensive/defensive strategies when their original strategy wasn't working. What the hell Cosgrove?

    2) ...simplify the offense a little more. Okay...this is college football. Why are we running a west coast offense. Half of the time it doesn't look like the players even know what they are doing out there. It's okay to abandon the option offense...but I just think this type of offense is just too complicated.

    3) ...get a different type of QB. I think NU needs a different type of QB. Sam Keller is alright, until there is someone in his face. I think we need a QB that is elusive (i.e., can run the ball effectively). This will add another dimension to our offense making it harder for the opposing team's defense, and will make the defense think twice about blitzing.

There are other things that need to be done...but I feel these are the main three things I want to see.

    What does everyone else think?
