  1. The biggest effect this would have would be on sports with only a 2 class system. In sports like soccer, baseball, schools like Skutt and Pius do very well every single year. Meanwhile, most of the OPS schools struggle.

Those schools I mentioned already play higher competition, so why not have the state tournament with the best competition?

I could see scheduling being a problem if schools moved around. They would need a say 3 or 4 year period, them get reevaluated and moved accordingly.

  2. My mother in law is also a realtor if you want that info as well.

From my experience living here for 6 years, you will want to live south of O st. Commuting in Lincoln is terrible no matter where you live, as there are no express streets or anything similar. Having said that, even if you lived in the complete opposite direction, commuting shouldn't take you more than 30 mins. In my opinion, I would rather live closer to things like grocery stores, movie theaters, etc and travel further for work. Most of the good things in lincoln are O st on south.

For education, the better high schools, East(best academic), Southeast and Southwest are south of O St.

I live in the College View neighborhood, which has affordable housing, 150k-200k range. I love the neighborhood as it is basically right in the middle of lincoln, easy access to anything.

  3. I graduated from CBA almost 4 years ago now, and I never had an experience like this one. Your friend must have a crap professor.

My capstone management course consisted of class discussions during lectures, case studies with class discussion, and a group project, where we had to create a business plan from start to finish, and then present and defend the plan to the class.

I had maybe one or two bad CBA courses, but nothing resembling a 6th grade English class preparing for a vocab quiz. Maybe things have been dumbed down in 4 years?

  4. 1. Throw some quick slants. Taylor could have had those all night, and those should be easy throws to make. They don't take long to develop, and then you can get Turner, Bell and Enunwa in some space and at speed.

    2. No more Blatchford....which would probably help stop those big gains via rollouts.

    3. Kinnie is allergic to the football

    4. LBs except David aren't too good.

  5. Pep Guardiola Hints At Cesc Fabregas Signing

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has dropped his biggest hint yet that the club is only looking to sign Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas before the close of the transfer season. "There is one signing left and you all know who it is," Guardiola told the press. A report in the Daily Mirror on Monday suggested Barcelona wants Fabregas to accept a $4 million pay cut in exchange for a move to the Camp Nou.

UPDATE: Cesc apparently met with Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis (Arsenal's director of football) on Friday to discuss a move to Barcelona, even if it means lowering his wages. Radio Marca is also reporting Barcelona made a final $37 million offer.

So sick of this transfer saga. It needs to end. He will just provide depth to Barca. They have better players in La Masia and on their bench already...like Thiago. I don't think they should be spending 37 million on him.

I'm also ready for Financial Fair Play to come into effect. As much as I love the transfer windows, having Barcelona spend 70-80 million and only sell 10-20 million worth while they are 600+ million in debt is just ridiculous. Also, the valuations of these players out of of control!

  6. thank goodness!! last month I was about to get windstream just for espn3, but the were priced a little too high for me, so I had to sulk over to TWC.

I don't have cable TV, just the internet, so espn3 will be a godsend :corndance

  7. If I manage to get up to the game(which I should, return to my homestate)

I want to bring a sign that says

    "You're Welcome"

Wisconsin was a horrible athletic program as a whole until Barry went to UW and turned the football team around, and then the rest followed suit. I've talked to alumni from the '70s and '80s and they were the gimmie game in every sport.

  8. Official: AC Milan Sign Robinho

A statement on their official website reads: "AC Milan communicates it has acquired the player Robinho, outright from Manchester City. The Brazilian has signed a contract with the Rossoneri club for four years."

Robinho has successfully undergone a medical and the Rossoneri will reportedly pay in the region of $15 million for his services, although the fee was unannounced at the time of the signing.

Love it. Got Robinho and Ibra for a total of 39 mil euro, when last year they were acquired for near a 100 if i remember correctly?

I was hoping Milan would get Grosso as it was planned too, but that fell through. At least there is no more Kaladze!!

  9. Juventus and Milan Agree To Deal For Marco Borriello

According to Italian newspaper II Corriere dello Sport, the 2 Italian giants have reached an agreement, with Borriello initially moving to Juventus on loan with the option to buy at the end of the season. Borriello has been contemplating his future since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the Rossoneri.

Holy crap its all falling into place! I could be getting my wish! The only way this could get better is if they bought another defender... An attacking force of Pato, Ibra, Robinho, with Ronaldinho and Pirlo feeding them...I'm salivating.

I hope Zambrotta comes back quickly, or they find a deal for a defender, because they will need another one.

And Berlusconi is finally spending money again! Halleujah! Took him two crappy years(by Milan standards) to understand that again!

I was impressed by Milan's performance, Allegri had them playing inspired football.

  11. Massimiliano Allegri Confirms Ibra Will Join Milan

"There has been a phone call, it was informative. He told me he would be really happy to come. We will see if the club can complete our attack which is already strong," Allegri told Sky Sports.

"I am faithful for this operation because we are all convinced he is an important player who would make us make the step up in quality and he will complete our front line."

"It was a courtesy call to get to know each other."

"He is a champion player. The more champions we have, the easier it is to win games. We have one of the strongest attacks in Europe."

"I think that with Ibrahimovic we will have technique and goals and we can get closer to Inter. To get results we need an important squad."

Sky Sports is also reporting Raiola and Galliani will hold a second meeting with the striker tonight where they will finalize the details of the contract.

    Yessss!!!!

Now just another defender or two!

Well now I've heard that they are also courting Robinho if the Ibra deal falls through...personally I'd rather them have that order switched. Robinho first, Ibra if it falls through.

I'd be fine with either though...

  13. so i will be making the trip to manhattan to see the huskers play and i was wondering if those of you who are making the trip as well want to get together and party before/after the game, idk anyone else going and i would like to get to know some of my huskerboard brothers! any ideas on how we can somehow all of us huskerboard members find one another and show them purple wearing pansies how real football fans support their team? :throwdabones1:

...And remember to bring your Power Towel! :rollin

  14. Street, you'll be pretty jealous of this...

My wife and I are going on our delayed honeymoon in November to Spain and Italy (where we have both studied abroad). We are going to Rome, an area north of Venice (where I studied), Granada, and Madrid!

And we were planning our trip around either to see a Roma game or Real Madrid, and we both decided we would rather watch Real...so we are going to go to the Real Madrid-Athletic Bilbao game on Nov 21!

This will be my 3rd game that I have gone to in Europe. I went to Milan-Roma at the San Siro (heaven for me since I'm an AC Milan supporter). Then later that year I went to a Barca-Real Betis game at the Camp Nou (also good for me, because Barca is 2nd favorite for me), in 2007 when they had Ronaldinho, Messi, Henry and Eto'o. Lets just say I wet myself watching those 4 warmup, so the game was fantastic.

So as you can probably imagine, I am beyond excited to see the new Galacticos at the Bernabeu!

I am beyond jealous. make sure you take plenty of pictures. I've heard the pre-game festivities are amazing! and kudos on the wife wanting to go see a game! You're damn lucky.

I will be sure to take pictures. A lot. And I'll post them here once we get back.

I am pretty damn lucky. However, it didn't take any convincing, as we are both huge soccer fans and have played all our lives. In fact, she is a 2 time Class A state Champ and 4 time finalist...she was on the legendary Lincoln East team from 03-06.

    But back to european soccer...

I would love to have Milan get Ibra. He fit in well at Inter and scored a lot of goals. I think his body type and style of play is more suited to the rough and tumble defensive minded Italian league.

I do like Milan's new additions of Boateng and Amelia. I was really surprised at the Boateng signing...as it was someone under 25 :rollin

They need to infuse some youth players into the A side, and especially the defense. They won't make it through the year with that line.

  16.

I thought we gave Wisconsin to Canada... <_<

Haha, even so, you did say planet... :wasted:cheers

I've been to a Husker game in Ames, and gone to Badger and LSU gamedays. While I give credit that you Cyclones drink heavily, you aren't up to their standards.

It is better than our tailgating though...

  17. And Iowa State fans consume more beer per capita than any other fan base on the planet...

Uh...might want to check your facts...your neighbors to the northeast(Wisconsin for those that aren't geographically inclined) would disagree with that statement.

Kegs and eggs, that pretty much sums up what they do.

  18. Everyone dismisses Italy every year...I can never understand why people do that. They have won 4 World Cups and are the most successful European side for a reason.

Do they play flashy Brazilian or Spanish style? No, but they play a way that wins a lot of games and wins the big matches as well.

I personally love Italian football. They don't care how many chances at goal they get, all they need is one and are content to beat you 1-0.

I think Italy will actually do well in this Cup, Cannavaro played pretty dang well for a 37 year old man. He had chunks of time where he was looking like the 2006 version. Pirlo and Camoranesi coming back and starting will only help, especially Pirlo, he is the man that runs the show and will make them more creative.

And by the way....I love Maicon. My favorite current RB. I hope this silences those that thought Dani Alves should be starting over him...Maicon is a better defender and has that goal scoring knack.

  19. I have to live the closest.

9th and charleston. I'm one of the houses between the two churches.

It says .6 mi by walking, but it takes me the dumb way down Holdredge st. instead of just down Stadium, and I can't change it to the way I would take. Could probably lop off another .2 mi.

  20. I always wonder to myself, "How does Bo Ryan consistently field good teams year after year"

His teams are constantly made up of the big white guys that most teams overlook...I know he has Milwaukee and Chicago to recruit from, but still. Winters are worse in Madison than here. It just flabbergasts me how he does it. The really good Milwaukee and Madison players usually don't stay, so I always wonder...

I sure as hell don't like watching that slow bring up the ball stuff, but somehow it works for Wisconsin. But off that point, wasn't Doc's thing when he came here that we were going to run up and down the court for 40 mins? "Baseline to Baseline"? :dunno I could've sworn his UTEP teams were scoring 80 points a game.

I just get so frustrated with the offensive ineptitude all of Doc's teams have shown. They ALWAYS go through a stretch in a game, at least 4 mins long where they don't score a basket! How does that happen in college ball?! Just throw the ball down to the blocks and look for something easy!
