  1. Guys played great. Easily could see this game going the other way, but Huskers played a well fought overtime.

We're still 7-1 and we can put up a fight bs OSU next weekend.

And finally people can quit comparing us to Iowa...

  2.

Rather telling that the B1G average includes the highest single salary. My quick and probably inaccurate math adjusts the B1G average to a meager $2,272,500 sans Harbaugh. I realize these are still ridiculous salaries but shouldn't a place like Nebraska, with our relatively high resources, be paying our HC quite a bit more. Not angling to get HCMR a raise but if we want (and WE do) to be in the discussion year in and year out? The Moneyball approach wouldn't seem to fit well in CFB.

HCMR took a smaller salary so he could have a larger assistant salary pool. The total paid to all football coaches/staff by a school is completely ignored in this situation but something you have to keep in mind.

Do you have any source for this? Now I'm curious about the numbers when comparing Coaching Salaries among schools.

Northwestern is awful. Just because they are beating teams in a very down B10 doesn't mean their OOC losses to bad and FCS teams should be ignored.

Oregon is awful this year, too.

    A down B1G??????

    You serious, Clark?

CM claims to be a realistic poster when in reality he could find something to complain about even if we won the whole thing

    Some people are pretty special.

  4. Post #25 and #26 might be the worst back to back post in the history of message boards.

There is a lot of sh#t in this thread..

We have possibly played the worst schedule for the first seven games in the history of CFB for power conference teams. Given that, I think we are better than the results allude to, but we have too many injuries to hold up for the remainder of the season. I don't think we can overcome the OL injuries, and we need TA at 100% to escape the defensive pressure that is coming in the next couple of weeks.

Look at Mechicken's schedule, they have played ONE road game and that was at Rutgers. Mechicken's big win was at home (of course) vs Wisky. A NU win in Madison gives them a better resume than they have. They are way overrated due to the Harbaugh hype. They only play 4 road games all year @ Rutgers, Mechicken State, Iowa and tOSU.

No matter what I expect tOSU to blow them out like they did last year as UM is the paper tiger that everyone in the media thinks we are.

Um. Michigan has a lot more credit than we do. They have dominating wins over most of their opponents, including a Penn state team who just upset tOSU.

  5. How did Wisconsin drop a spot for beating Iowa? I think OSU was punished a bit too much for losing essentially on a fluky play- the blocked kick return TD- in a tough road environment. Are we a top-6 team? Let the hand-wringing begin (continue).

Because great teams don't put themselves in positions where they can lose on one play. Always sucks when your special team costs you the game, though.

  6. So when we go to Madison and win ugly on Saturday, then what will the "na sayer's" have to say. The same people complaining that we dont belong are the same people that were whining about our losses and MR last year. OSU got beat by PSU, get over the "we don't belong" position. We are winning and that is all that counts.

Some people will change their tune, others will call it a fluke. Doesn't really matter.

  7.

Predictions with the tOSU loss tonight?

    My guess

    1. Bama 8-0

    2. Michigan 7-0

    3. Clemson 7-0

    4. Washington 6-0

    5. Texas A&M 6-1(loss to Bama)

    6. Louisville 6-1(loss to Clemson)

    7. Nebraska 7-0

    8. Baylor 6-0

    9. Ohio State 6-1(loss to Purdue)

    10. West Virgina 6-0

    11. Wisconsin 5-2(losses to Michigan and tOSU)

I'm not sure about the last two. With OSU losing, Wisconsins losses are now more meaningful. Ohio state could also drop further but I don't think so. They might even drop to 7 shifting everything down.

Ohio State lost to Purdue? Wow

    Whoops. It's late. I'm drunk.

  8. Predictions with the tOSU loss tonight?

    9. Ohio State 6-1(loss to Penn State)

    10. West Virgina 6-0

  9.

We're literally halfway, in a back-loaded schedule. If we win the next two game, feel free to start the discussion.

Ye have little faith, why not have this thread start right now, so it can keep going towards January?

I'm just a realist. I have no doubt that we could win out and make the playoff, but the odds are low. Here is my estimate:

    Odds of:

Undefeated regular season + winning CCG: 2000:1

    Undefeated regular season 1000:1

    1 loss regular season: 10:1

    2 loss regular season: 1:1

    3 loss regular season 1:1

  10. You can knock back a few Whiskies if you want but NU is not beating Wisconsin next week as much as I hate to say it.

Outcomes are based in reality. Reality is shaped by preparation. It is clear, that Wisconsin adheres to core principles in their preparation. They are physical, disciplined. They are rarely out of position on defense, rarely out of form, and they play with high emotion. These thing have to be drilled into a team for months for it to really show on the field. Players who have prepared this way do not forget how to play on a given Saturday.

It is clear to me Nebraska has not been drilled this way. Our offensive line does not consistently secure a seam to run in. Our defensive line is not as gap disciplined as Wisconsin though they are good.

The coaches at Wisconsin are clearly excellent, and it shows.

As much as we want the reality to be an NU win, Sat. night they will still be them, and we will still be us. This is going to be a 37-17 Wisconsin win. And it will suck for me. I am preparing now.

Do you also have next weeks lottery numbers? Or any other else you want to tell us, Nostradamus?
