    pretty simple concepts-

    So the summary is:

if you believe what Eichost said when he fired Bo then you're whole premise is wrong.

You need to work on your English composition. I wasn't talking about the content of the post.

But I have zero clue what Eichorst said about Bo. I'm talking about the multiple instances of Bo losing his s#!t. The guy had zero composure.

Or are you denying that there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Bo Pelini is a hot head?

if you believe Herr Eichorst's statement about "why" they fired Bo then your whole premise is mistaken- they couldn't even be publicly honest about their reasons, which is why they are no longer in those positions - integrity is something within a person, that apparently Eichorst nor is boss ever possessed

also, Bo may have been the despicable human you believe he is/was, but one thing is for sure he spoke his mind and was honest about his thoughts, however crass or crude they were- and all of his behaviors which most fans that hate Bo use as reasons for their negative opinions,  seems a bit strange if you juxtaposition it with your statement that people would ignore those behaviors "if" he won championships. that is not something to be proud of and and certainly doesn't exude integrity or a principled position.

Can someone verify that I haven't stroked out? I probably re-read this paragraph 4 times and can't make sense of what is being said.

Iowa State at 7-5 is the equivalent of a Nebraska, Tennessee, or Florida going 10-2. I do think that Campbell needs more time at ISU to show improvement though before someone comes and takes him away.

But no problems with getting any of the five on that list...though there's one in particular that I'd like to see in Nebraska...

    Truth

ISU's schedule has been f'ing brutal. Also, I think Ferentz deserves some credit. Iowa has also played a pretty brutal schedule. Our schedule was actually pretty brutal as well(or will be after we play Penn State)...but we've s#!t the bed versus very mediocre teams...

I was saying to hire Frost when Riley was hired. I just shook my head and knew this would end up a failure and it has been.

    A lot of people were.

I'm not going to lie. I was blindly optimistic when they hired Riley. Mostly because I didn't know any better, and if you don't know any better, it's a lot easier to be hopeful than it is to be a debbie downer.

But before they announced Mike Riley, I, and many others, felt like Scott Frost was our guy.

And nothing has changed. There is still a subset of people who feel Scott still has something to prove, but quite respectfully, those people are freaking morons...

You act like supporting the position that firing Bo was a bad thing- forget for a moment about your emotions relating to Bo,  I believe Cowherd had valid points and logic in his comments regarding the firing of Bo.

Firing a coach after a winning season is bad, firing a coach who never had a losing season is just plain dumb. those are basic facts that yes sometimes, but not often, need to be ignored, however we did it 2 times in recent history and both times it hasn't ended well for us.

I'd love to have a few back to back 9+ win seasons right about now.

Unless you're firing him for reasons other than his results on the football field.

Bo Pelini was an asshat and not the type of guy you want as the face of your football program. If he could have handled himself better off the field, then he never would have been canned. But he's an egotistical maniac and a f'ing clown. The only way people were going to ignore his behavior would be if he was winning championships, which he wasn't...

I pissed him off. I have a .edu email for life. So he was sure to get it and open it. Im sure most fan email was getting trashed.

Having a .edu email address isn't anything special. I could register a .edu domain without being affiliated with any sort of educational institution.

I'm skeptical, as many will be, that you're not just full of s#!t. His response doesn't sound like an email from a chancellor. It sounds like a message board response...

I'm not gloating, trying to or sarcastically alluding to it...I am a humble Husker fan who hasn't been proud of his team in years...

Funnily enough, calling yourself humble means you're not humble...

On top of that, if you want to take a thread that is so obviously satire and turn it into some sort of serious discussion... well that makes you a bit of a douche...

    No.

He did not know squat about coaching college players, he had too much hubris and his teams work did not match their sense of entitlement.  Forcrying outloud one year he had the team go without padding up and tackling all the way up until the USC game.  News flash Bill this isnt the NFL.  College playersneed to practice hitting.  indicative of how clueless he was.  No one like that would still be here.

And yet, he still was probably better than Riley. Marginally, at least...

It's based on academic performance if there are not enough 6-win teams to fill the bowl slots.

I have no idea how they gather those numbers, but if it's based off athletes academics, Nate Gerry probably screwed the pooch for us on that one...

There could very well be something going on behind the scenes between the staff that the public doesn't know about. Riley doesn't teach tackling, Riley isn't the one teaching position fundamentals, Riley isn't designing their diet. Sure, he hired the guys who do, but out of everyone they show on the sidelines, Riley is actually the one with the most WTF attitude. He's always by himself. Is he getting along with his staff? He's going to be the one taking the fall for them.

Taking the fall for them? They're his staff. He's 65. Unless the dude has some sort of severe gambling problem, he's not taking any sort of fall. He's ending his career on the same note that he carried through most of it.

It's not like losing football games is something new to him. I'm sure he'll be alright.

  12. There is no point either way, so honestly, no reason to fire him now. What difference does it make, other than give us something to talk about.

Let's just hope that Scott Frost wants the job when this is all said and done.

Scary how accurate the letter ended up being...

It's kind of a hindsight letter, even then.

The problem is that the issues Riley had in his first season still exist today. All the letter does is outline all the issues Riley had in his first season. And in year 3, he hasn't fixed any of them.

    Most likely to least likely finishes for the NU in my opinion;

    1-3 (most likely-no bowl game)

3-2 (very possible- finishing 2-2 and then winning bad bowl game with interim coach)

3-2 (finishing 3-1 and then losing bad bowl game with current coaching staff)

    0-4 (Pretty unlikely but possible)

4-1 (Really unlikely- going 4-0 then losing decent bowl game)

    5-0 (c'mon man... no way)

Using actual statistics, it's more likely that NU doesn't make a bowl. So using real stats, the outcomes are

    1-3 : 43%

    2-2: 28%

    0-4: 22%

    3-1: 7%

    4-0: <1%

Adding the bowl game scenarios in at this point can't be predicted using stats.

    Food for thought.

Seeing as how Iowa has scoreboard on you this year you might want to rethink gloating.  Beating top ten teams is great but you are not the sh*t until you can take care of business at home.

    Lighten up, dude...

  16. First thing you do is you have to get the ball rolling on being considered the nicest fan base in college football. It's real easy to be a nice fan base when you're good. Make sure to hang up a bunch of signs indicating how good your fans are in Jack Trice.

Now when opposing fans come to town, be overly nice to them. Like damn near creepy nice. Go way the hell out of your way to make sure they brag about how great Ames is when they leave. Treat them better than you treat the Cyclone fan tailgating next to you. Free beers, front of the line to the pisser, cut in line to bars downtown, etc.

Make sure you dedicate your entire weekend to this. The night before, make sure you identify as many members of the opposing fan base as possible and wish them good luck. But don't just wish them luck, keep pouring on that generosity. Pick up their tab, if you have to. Also, if they run into any Cyclone fans that aren't on the same page as you, make sure put that person in their place. They must have not got the memo that s#!t-talking is out, and it's all about killing the opponents with kindness.

After the game, continue the story. If Cyclones win, make sure you talk about how it was a good game, and you hope their enjoying Ames and if they need a ride-home that night, you're ready to pick them up. If the Cyclones should lose, do the same thing, except talk about how impressed you were with their team, etc.

We didn't realize it before Mike Riley was our coach, but this is actually called the Mike Riley treatment. Because as much as everyone wants to hate you. As much as people wish that they could justify pointing out how big of nobody you are, they can't because you're just too nice.

And this is the ultimate secret to being successful at gloating.

PS: None of this applies to Iowa. Those people have superiority complexes and quite honestly, no matter how nice you are to them, every conversation you have with them will be an argument in which they argue with themselves by pointing out all the reasons it's ok to be mediocre.

Good luck with your gloating. Next time I'm near Ames, I better see at least 4 or 5 references to how great your fans are.
