Coach Riley is looking to consult with coach Oz- very cool.

Riley said that when he was first hired. It apparently hasn't happened yet. Interesting.

Why is that so interesting? They both lead busy lives, and with the holidays it's even more hectic. Sounds like they are playing phone tag.

It's been over a month. If you want to get in touch with someone, and they want you to be in touch with them.......well, you know........

I guess i fail to see the big deal. Osborne's gone. He hasnt been AD for over two years now. Why would our new coach have to "talk" with him. I just think there's way too much being led into this. Now if Riley wants to talk to Osborne and get to know him, great, but that can be done anytime, and that's if the feeling is even reciprocated. And if it isnt, well who cares. At some point we're gonna have to get over this notion that TO needs to be consulted everyime Eichorst wants to blow his nose or a coach wants to take a dump. Frankly, it's just not his program anymore. And until we come to that realization, this program will never get back over the hump.

Our new coach doesn't have to.....neither does Osborne. That's the point. But to say a big deal hasn't been made out of the past is incorrect.....thus the e-mail Riley sent out to former players right after his hire. But yet he and Osborne haven't had a "chance" to speak in over a month? Ok.......

I'd say it is lip service. People want to hear that he will reach out so he will accommodate them. In a couple of moths no one will care. The meeting may or may not happen, in the long run it doesn't matter.

+1.. This cannot be stated enough. Honor the past, move into the future.

The difference is modern day Christians don't take those words literally and act upon them. Only a minute percentage do compared to a much higher percentage of Islamist.

True, Christians pick and choose which parts of their religious teachings to follow.

As does any follower of any religion. Its called being a hypocrite, its also called being human.

EDIT: Or any person that lives under any kind of rule. We all choose what laws and rules we think should apply to us.

8 team playoff - first round on campus.

Pass. I love the four-team format.

8 teams, how bad would Oregon have beat Mississippi State? :snacks:

Agree, also I dont want to diminish the bowl games. While #5 had a valid complaint this year, so would #9, as would 17 etc. Keep it at four, and make sure the SEC never wins again.

  5. Nope, Muck posted that. He's a member here at HuskerBoard, I'm a member there on BuckeyePlanet. Neither of us post on the other guy's site much anymore, but I still go over there once in a while. Alexhortdog, who posts over here more and more, is a Husker fan and member of BuckeyePlanet. It's a really well-run message board. By far my favorite of the Big Ten fan sites.

I didn't know he'd posted that (or if I did I forgot), but I got this recipe from a Marlboro cigarettes chili recipe book. Back in the day you could get Marlboro merchandise (Marlboro Bucks rings a bell, but I don't know if this is associated with that). The book is a buddy's, a life-long Marlboro smoker.

There were about a dozen chili recipes. I'll post a few more in a bit.

I remember the Marlboro bucks.. My buddy from college won a trip to the ranch, I think it was in AZ or NM, back in '98 or '99. I think it was impressive as he switched from Camel Lights to Mar Reds until he quit.

EDIT: It was Camel bucks, and Marlboro miles. They had a catalog you could order stuff from, the Camel one was more bar/lounge stuff, while Marlboro was country items, I think both had pool tables etc. Of course you needed their currency. I dont remember if Camel offered trips, but I know for sure about the Ranch Marlboro had, although you had to win that.

The only thing is we need to get out there and get it going. The B1G punched a huge ticket today, but tOSU is the real benefactor. Urb is just getting going, and with Michigan getting their splash in Harbaugh things are going to get tight for us. Recruit recruit recruit..

I am happy the SEC is out and that the B1G is the conference that got it done. I don't think this really helps any one but OSU. This win gives OSU street creed and should help thier recruiting.

It obviously will show recruits you can be up north and win a championship. However, the best opportunity in the B1G will be in Columbus.

Maybe the conference gets a couple more prime time slots next year.

I agree. 'Im more on the line a rising tide lifts all boats, and if that means more prime time slots that helps all of us. I'm more concerned about tOSU and Michigan casting a huge shadow and hoovering up any and all recruits that even think about coming north.

OK...I have a question for everyone who claims to be a brisket expert.

I have cooked one heck of a lot of briskets. Here is my problem. I can not get it to slice nicely with out falling apart and basically be pulled beef. Everything I have ever read about it claims to take it to 190 just like pulled pork. Well.....the reason you take pulled pork to at least 190 is because at that temperature the water cells in the connective tissue burst allowing the meat to fall apart and thus....become pulled pork.

Well, the same thing happens with brisket.

So, at what temperature to you cook your brisket, for how long and at what internal temp is it when you take it off?

I can make pulled beef that tastes DANG good. I just wish I could make sliced brisket.

I am in no way a brisket expert. Not at all . . . but this is what the site that I use the most says about the topic:

    http://amazingribs.com/recipes/beef/texas_brisket.html

Everyone here probably already knows about amazingribs.com, though. Haha.

I've read that before and tried it absolutely as close to how they describe it as possible and it still shreds when I try to cut it. They claim you should take it to around 203 degrees. That's above where the connective tissue "melts" thus....allowing it to fall apart.

I've always been frustrated about this. I've lost competitions before where my pulled pork and ribs were fantastic but my brisket wasn't.

FYI.....my burnt ends recipe basically came from this site. It's awesome.

Are you wrapping in foil? I started using "pink butcher paper" and that seems to help. I smoke to 180, wrap in paper, back on till 194, pull let set in cooler with towels for a few hours, meat will "set" slices really well.

Using a Hasty Bake, with lump coal, and large oak pieces. After my first try with oak I will not use anything else for beef, will try it on ribs in the spring. Got a Tappecue, it connects to your router, and you can check the temps on up to four probes from anywhere using the app. also you can set triggers or high/low temps etc, plus it makes you a smoke session graph to review once you are done.. Good lord Im a nerd...

We are positive in the same way you were 100% sure that Bo was never going to win anything at nebraska Hedley. For the last two years the Bo haters have been on here bashing every loss, coach and playcall. Now it's our turn to question everything your coach does. Sounds like he is already off to a good start with the hiring of Banker and Read. It's not a good sign when the Oregon state play by play guy says they suck.

I hope your post is meant to be sarcastic. It perfectly illustrates the "us versus them" attitutude that defined the Bo Pelini era and created the toxicity around the program that led to everyones' misery and Pelini's dismissal. Pelini wasn't fired for only winning 9 games, he was fired for fostering this divide in the program.

If Pelini had spent more time managing the team and less time worrying that officials, administrators, media, conference officials and bad fans were out to get him, he probably would have had more success on the field and would likely still be the coach

he was fired because Perlman didn't "like" him plain and simple- if TO were still AD does anyone think Pellini would have been fired? take all your emotions about Pellini out of it, the answer is very pellucid- and it is no

The main reason he was fired was because Tom finally saw the light after the Wisconsin game and said that Bo had to go. Just because he isn't the AD, doesn't mean that he doesn't have pull when it comes to these things. A lot of the big $$$$ boosters still listen to him and if he wasn't on board, then you would have heard more grumbling from them than you do.

No. No, no, no, no & no.. Say what you want but Tom is out, and that is as it should be.

  10. Hi, how are you, thanks for posting yet one more thread about how our new coach is terrible...

MR coached the San Diego Charger to their WORST RECORD IN FRANCHISE HISTORY! Good coaches simply do not do that. The Chargers do not have less resources than all other NFL teams

Many college level coaches struggle with the NFL. Spurrier comes to mind, as well as some dude they call Nick, you may of heard of him. Anyway basing your hate of a coach that in your own words took "(a) bad team to a mediocre team" but really sucked in the NFL is just silly. They have separate levels of play for a reason and good NFL does not mean good in College or the other way around, OK? Alright then... Again thanks for posting, and any time you feel the need to start a topic on the next thought that pops into your head, feel free! Even though it may of been covered in other threads, possibly several times there is no need for you to go unheard, for you are very special and your voice must be heard above all others. Have a great day!

  11. Something isn't right. USA Today has us the same way...

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/schools/finances/

Omaha has us over 100 million...

Looking deeper the top link is for 2013, and the Omaha post is for this year, but the numbers are still of by millions.

  12. You all would be so disappointed if you knew who The Sock Puppet was in real Huskerboard life. You're giving The Sock Puppet way too much credit by mentioning his name with real, cyber legends of Huskerboard. The Sock Puppet is merely the conduit of information, of which he has none right now.

Perhaps the Mods will give The Sock Puppet a chance to survive, perhaps not... We're all "annonymous" on this board, The Sock Puppet is just more transparent about his purpose than most. Time will tell.

Should of set up via a Tor Browser. Would mask everything about you. Keep it in here, and Im sure you're fine...

  13. You guys are actually both correct I'm Colonel Marvin Sanders

I love your soup! Why dont you add a full sandwich with a bowl of soup for the hungrier (and fatter) set, half a sandwich is such an insult. I for one would love it...

  14.

“They probably needed my vote,” he (Rand Paul) said, opposing Leahy’s bill because it would extend the sunset provisions for the laws authorizing surveillance.

Yup sure sounds like he doesn't give a crap about any of that...

Oh boy. You buy that, huh?

Says it right there, but since he has and "R" after his name he is telling a lie.

The bill needs to (or should) come up again, maybe he can get the bill he wants.

No. It's not the "R" after his name that makes him a liar. What makes him a liar is the fact that he claims to want one thing and votes for the opposite.

"I object to these warrantless searches being performed on United States citizens. I object to the 200,000 NSL searches that have been performed without a judge's warrant.

I object to over 2 million searches of bank records, called Suspicious Activity Reports, performed on U.S. citizens without a judge's warrant.

As February 28th approaches, with three provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act set to expire, it is time to re-consider this question: Do the many provisions of this bill, which were enacted in such haste after 9/11, have an actual basis in our Constitution, and are they even necessary to achieve valid law-enforcement goals?" Sen Rand Paul

So he speaks out against the Patriot act, then votes against a bill that would extend it until 2017, and now hes a liar. Got it.

  15.

Have any of you guys taken a look at Saban's record at Michigan state? You would have run him out on a rail!

Not me. Lets take a look:

    - First year on the job and he beats

. Bo has only beaten a top 10 team once (MU) in his head coaching career. It took him 3 years.... Saban went 6-5-1 after the previous coach did not win a single game last year. That is a 6 game upswing compared to Pelini's 4 game upswing from 2007-2008. Keep in mind saban had a tougher schedule his first year and bo did.

    - Third year on the job and he beats a

. Had a schedule that consisted of 3 top ten teams, making it much stronger than Pelini's current strength of schedule for this 2014 season

    - Went 9-2 in his fifth and last year on the job, 1999 season, beating 4 out of 6 RANKED TEAMS. Pelini would not survive 6 ranked teams on his plate in one season. He's already lost all 3 this year. doubt he even has a chance to beat a top 25 team after the minnesota loss unless he beats iowa and gets a better bowl opponent.

    - Continuing, in Saban's FIFTH season, (after taking over a MSU team that did not win a single game the previous year), he fielded a better team than Bo has, considering Bo was given seven years and much more resources. The 1999 spartans ended the season with a top ten finish. Bo has never done that

Pelini's career at NU is not as successful as Saban's MSU career when you look past the total wins and losses, 34-24 for saban, 66-27 for pelini

Great post, great way to take down a straw man with facts. +1

  16.

Man, 2010 was the best of times (UW Pt. 1

Went to the game at U-Dub... Man a great weekend, drinking bars outta beer with my fellow NU brethren was amazing, Seattle never saw it coming.

  17.

To think that anyone in charge now would cowtow to the wishes of a retired man, regardless of who is in the wake of real money disappearing is clinging to bygone age.

So Osborne is a legend when you want him to be and something else if he's potentially a roadblock to your ire.

Its not his program anymore. Will they consult him, probably. Will he be the one make the choice, I hope not, as much as I respect the man he is no longer the AD, SE needs to own this, it will define his tenure at Nebraska, good or bad.
