Never said that he would want to come back here. Didn't even say that he was unhappy in his current position. Not assuming he would want to come here "just because he was born here". Just found it interesting that he was actually from Omaha and I love what he's done with a Georgia program that was fairly mediocre before he took over.

Also, if you're going to say "no", I'd love it if you could expand on that opinion a little. This is a message board, so maybe you'd like give us a little more than........"no" :box

I think a lot of us are just getting tired of the out of control rumor mill. It seems "everybody and his brother" who has any ties to Nebraska has had his name thrown out as a potential candidate. There's nothing personal intended here. You are welcome to share you views. I just think nerves are getting a little frazzled right now so people are getting short with their responses. It's going to be a LONG four weeks until the end of the season when, hopefully, TO will make some decisions.

I agree. I've had enough of th 'what about this guy?' posts. give it all a rest for a while.

Thought this was a place we could post our "opinions". Guess the only opinion worth posting is the popular one. Don't get me wrong, I believe Pelini will be a great head coach for any team. I also believe that TO will select the right guy for the job. Just wanted to throw this name out there. If you don't like it, don't read it

This thread was not intended to be a "rumor". Just a guy I thought was interesting. Nothing I've read or heard says he is even interested in coming here. Was just a thought. Geez

  3. Haven't seen his name mentioned yet. Very interesting though. He was actually born in Omaha. Maybe he'd consider coming back? Even heard he has family still in the Omaha area.

Has done some impressive things at UGA while staying atop the SEC most years and did some VERY good things at FSU as an offensive coordinator where he coached 2 Heisman trophy winners. A young coach with a lot of passion. The more I read about him, the more I like him as NU's head coach than Pelini. His bio:

He also has a son, Jon, who is a senior high school quarterback who's committed to Clemson. Maybe he could follow Dad back to his roots?

I just don't get it! All these coaches names that are being tossed around as potential candidates. First off just because they were born in Nebraska does not mean that they automaticially want to come here because the job is open! Second, what makes ya think they want to leave the jobs their have now? This football program is broke at the moment. Don't kid yourself but that will shy a lot of coaches away. Yes we have a rich and valued tradition at Nebraska, but right now it's in complete turmoil. I have faith in TO and his search committe to find the best coach to fit not only the University but the people of Nebraska.

  5. There's another thread on here that says Bo Pelini just flew into Lincoln last night. You guys need to get your rumors jived up.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger. Could be complete BS, but just passing it along b/c I thought it was interesting. Take it for what it's worth......which could be nothing

Actually, both rumors could be true. Maybe Tom is just going down there for something completely different.

  7. Or maybe, just maybe, he has a nice little fishing hole down there as it's starting to get cold in Nebraska and the fish ain't bighting? First of all, I don't think TO would press the issue this early out of respect for Les Miles and his program down there. The last thing we need to do as a program is make distractions for another program with a legitimate shot at a NC.

Like I said, purely speculation. Nothing concrete at all. Don't imagine TO has too much time to drop a line in the water right now though. ;)

  8. So I have a friend that has connections to the athletic dept and told me today that TO is heading down to Austin to catch the volleyball match tonight. The thing is, he apparently isn't flying with the volleyball team but is taking a separate flight and told the dept that he wouldn't be back until Friday. Wonder what he could be doing down there until Friday? Could it be that he's planning a short trip east to Baton Rouge? Pure speculation of course, but I thought it was interesting. Could mean absolutely nothing.

  9. Name 1 good thing that Bill Callahan has done for the program.

I have to admit, I was a big BC supporter in the beginning (Not any more!!). I honestly haven't talked to anybody that still supports him! Surely there has to be somebody out there......right? Anybody? :dunno

Nope sorry, they all have been exterminated!!

It's just surprising that there isn't anyone that wouldn't still support him. Just figured there'd be some guy out there that didn't know his elbow from his a** and would still support him just b/c he's still our coach  . No matter what the situation, you always seem to run into these people. I just haven't found any

    Freemason9???

To say that you support him simply b/c he's our coach is like a woman who gets beaten up by her husband and won't leave him b/c she still says she loves him! Don't get me wrong, this situation isn't nearly as serious as domestic violence, but you get my point.

  11. Ladies and Gentleman, I am proud to annouce our new Head Coach for the 2008 Season............Mr Bo. Pelini. Guys please just give it a break......you hear more about this guy in newletters and sports articles.....every coach that you've guys have been posting about "Oh Nebraska should get this guy" or "No this guy will be the perfect fit for NU." Please Dr. Tom sees Bob Devaney in Bo Pelini so that's why he's looking at getting The Man, The Myth, The Legend Mr. Bo Pelini. Nebraska will be stupid if we let this guy slip through our fingers. And yes i'm Bogasm and you know what I could give a rats ass about it because I see talent and championships in the future with this guy.

No offense I doubt T.O thinks he see Devaney in Pelini. (Don't believe every e-mail you get) It's funny how many former Husker players know about whats going on but the ones that are in the media from the National Championship teams seem to know nothing about it.

Was T.O even in Nebraska when Pelini coached here? I thought he was just starting out as a congressman.

I wouldn't mind Pelini being named head coach but there will probably be a coaching search done before anything is decided.

I agree that it would be a mistake to jump the gun to early on a head coach before really looking at other options, but I have to admit that I was very impressed with Coach Pelini's defensive adjustments at halftime tonight!

  12. Anyone watching the LSU vs. Auburn game? It's refreshing to watch a game in which a team actually makes some defensive and offensive adjustments at halftime (LSU)!! Auburn scored 17 in the first half and have been completely shut down it the second. IMO, we would be very blessed to get Pelini! :thumbs

  14. I will make sure to update anyone who wants the info. I talked to my friend and he said that a phone call was planned later today and that a meeting was planned tomorrow. I will NOT speculate on what but I will tell those of you who want to know all about it.

The reason I am mad is because there are people who spent the last 2 months telling me my thoughts, ideas, dislike for Callahan and the direction of the program were unfounded and the insulted me with personal attacks when I was careful not to name call anyone. These same people think I am trying to get credit and praise for this info and they question my source and insult my playing career. I offered this info on Huskerboard.com because I like most of the people here and I have already talked to a bar about renting out their patio for the spring game to say hi to members here.

I am not posting or giving my feedback because for no reason I am constantly attacked and I consider this info 'good stuff' that shouldn't be treated like $hit. I am not catching feelings or a wuss, rather I am asking for respect from people who have been dead a$$ wrong all year and insulted me in the process.

If I don't have you on my PM I will look you up on this thread an update you after I hear back.

    GBR!!!

I'd appreciate a PM too, IBR!! You're the reason I joined this board! Thanks for all the info! :clap

  15. I found this on youtube awhile ago and I thought it was pretty funny. Check it out.

    old news..already seen it :corndance

I hadn't. Thanks for posting it! Don't imagine they'll be doing any more bits like that one any time soon though. Hard to crack a smile when you're getting pasted by 30 points a game! :o

  16. I'm excited! The old tunnel walk this year was frankly, embarrassing.

A few weeks ago I was having a hard time describing to a buddy why this year's version was so bad. "Embarrassing" is the perfect adjective! Like a really bad commercial. Very lame. Shouldn't be too hard to generate a tunnel walk that would get the crowd into a frenzy. All you'd have to do is show old Husker glory-day clips and you'd be fine. Glad to see they're re-vamping it!
