  1. As a Big 10 fan, adding Mizzou would have been nice solely from having 12 teams and a CCG. But adding a corwn jewel like NU adds so much more excitement to the B10 expansion. Besides the tradition, fan base, etc - the coolness of the NU helmets is up there with Mich, OSU, Penn St.

totally agree, i love the simplicity and tradition of most of the big 10 uniforms. you just know they were dominant in the past and never wanted to change their uni's because they represented those past eras of dominance, which continued on.

I guess. But I'll really miss KSU's purple power cat. Hopefully Northwestern can adopt it. :koolaid2:

  2. What's the name of the mascot with the blue tie, I've never seen that one before!

It's purple. He is Northwestern's mascot, studious nerd Pat Poindexter. I think they take their academic excellence a little too seriously at NW, actually. Lighten up a little wildcats!

  3. I cannot wait until Nebraska is fully integrated into the Big Ten! :horns2

    :horns2

I'm still finding it weird about all the Big 10 peeps on here...it's like we joined a different conference or something. ;)

Looking forward to it...apparently the chemo and radiation worked to cure us from the cancerous horn that was killing us. :) Gotta say that even though I doubt it will transpire in the stadiums, Big 10 members that have been on this forum for the most part have been top-notch with class.

Yeah, they have been great. It feels like moving from a slummy trailer park to........ not a trailer park. Classy folks, very supportive and excited to have another top-notch program. :koolaid2:

Wait until we've played them a few times. Things won't stay so amicable forever. :bang

  4. watson has been a target from other schools,,,the alabama coach would like to have him...unfortunatly , penili will probably be ohio state head coach when terrel quites, gets fired, etc..., hopefully that will not happen soon....starling was a great grab, and very highly ranked player...considered 100 best .....he will only help bring in better players, i am hoping we can get a great wide reciever,...nu has allways fell short there. watson would be a nice candidate for head coach at nu if penili leaves some day

FYI, it's frowned upon for Big Ten head coaches to leave for another Big Ten head coaching position. It's an unwritten rule of sorts. If Pelini ever leaves Nebraska, it'll be for another job in a different conference or the NFL, but not for another team in the Big Ten.

I don't know if I would go so far as to say he would never switch from NU to OSU. The circumstances are a little different here. First, it is his alma mater and he grew up in the state. Second, his current team switched conferences and that is how he became a Big Ten coach. Had he accepted a job at Purdue and then applied for a vacant OSU HC position, it may be different. I think people would be understanding if he took the OSU position. Of course we would be disappointed in Nebraska. :wasted

  5. I hope he stays with football. If that 4.36 40 he ran is true he could be a QB for the ages...

Congrats on landing Starling from a Buckeye fan. Looks like he had a pretty good offer sheet(incl. ALA and ND). What type of offense has Nebraska been running since Bo took over. Is there any one game I should watch to get a sense of the type of offensive identity we should be expecting from the Huskers in 2011 and 2012?

I'd say watch the Arizona game from last year. That's what Shawn Watson has been wanting to do, but with injuries and whatnot last year he and Bo held the reins a little bit. What with rest and players getting healthy, they could let loose more in the bowl game, so that one should be indicative of where our offense is heading.

Or Texas tech 2 years ago, thatll give u a pretty good idea too

Yeah, but don't watch any other games. They're a bit embarrassing. :hmmph

  6. Although I despise them, I picked Missouri. At least they had the nerve to speak their mind and would have done the same thing as us if invited. No one else had the courage to bolt. The embarrassment they must be feeling over us getting invited over them has to be painful. It will be easier to root for coach Gill now though. :bigredn:

  7. Academic integrity is what differentiates the Big Ten from the rest of the football conferences. We're not like the Pac 10 who are willing to take any school off the street. We're not like the SEC where, well, academics just are left out of the equation. Every Big Ten university is rated top 100 via US World News, and all are top 50 public schools. Incredible.

    If you're curious, http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/national-top-public .

We are looking forward to making a move up similar to the way PSU did. Of course, the state of Texas is going to send fake high school transcripts and phony SAT scores to our admissions dept for every 18 year old idiot in their state, just to foil us. :LOLtartar

  8. T Boone donated $400 mill so the pokies could beat teams like NU. What he usually has in his pocket at any one time is enough to help OSU past what is left in the North. He's just pissed he wasted his money. :hellloooo

  9. I agree with some of the sentiments above. I know that it is probably the right move and I am excited about the possibilities, but my heart is also not in it. I love watching big 12 football, and I just don't know that purdue, northwestern etc. will do it for me. Sure, you might say the same things about iowa St. or Kansas St. but to my heart it is different.

Now I am a big Red guy through and through, and I will support the team and learn the new conference...and I am glad we told texas to F-off... but something about this just doesn't feel right to me.

I feel the same way. It will change once you know the new teams better. I too would watch a KSU-ISU game before Georgia-Tennessee, for instance, but only because I knew the teams and they were in our conference. I truly believe this is a lateral move athletically. The rest of the reasons are so compelling though. We had to do it.

  10. I have been lurking on this website for quite sometime now and this is easily the funniest thing I have ever read.

:yeah.... I can't quite tell if he's wishing us good luck or if he's angry at us. :wtf

Actually, he and his Missouri friends laugh at the HB members who find it amusing, that's all. :restore

  11. If Texas goes to the PAC 10, their fans are going to hate it. I think this is the funniest thing of all. They will not like the distances to games, and they won't like not getting their way, because the existing schools will have none of it and will stand up to them. These schools can be very liberal, and that isn't going to be well liked in Texas either. I hope they enjoy what they have brought down on themselves with their arrogance and being so power hungry, because now they will have no more power than anyone else.

    :laughpound

In the end, I think the Big 12 stays together. Texas will not go where they are not the big fish. They will add two teams and the Pac will add Utah. However, if they do end up having to go they won't be happy going. They will try and make it seem like it is the place to be, but I won't be fooled. :koolaid2:

Well, you called it Captain. the board is that much better for your insight and wisdom.
