  1. No negativity here, we WON!! If this is the worst it gets this year, I will take it.

Listening to the post game and I have to give Bo credit, he is taking full responsibility for the bad play, that's class. He just said, "I am not pushing the panic button, this is still the same team who beat Washington last week."

We will be just fine, at least we are not Texas !!! :laughpound :laughpound :laughpound

  2. Sorry, I'm used to not being allotted enough tickets from certain teams that shall remain nameless, but their initials are osu... ;)

But seriously, the 97' national championship was ours. The flaming can proceed. ;)

I've only ever been to one OSU game. When UCLA came to town back in the late 90s. I wasn't flaming. I was hoping that you caught the jist of my humor.

Lol I did, I was just playing with you. The flaming coment was for my coment about the 97' game that was not. It's all in good fun.

Well then, let's have some fun, shall we?

    1. During 93-97 Husker football lost only 3 games.

    2. During the sames time frame played for 4 National Championships and won 3 (one shared of course).

    3. In 97, the year in question, we played a MUCH stronger opponent in Tenn. than you did in Wash. St. We freaking clobbered them and you barely won and in contreversial fashion.

    4. Sure you won the Big Ten that year, but overall the Big 10 had a horrible Bowl record that year. They weren't the strongest conference that year.

    5. Ok, WE GOT THE SEARS TROPHY!!! You can have that wooden piece of crap AP one.

    6. Considering Nebraska's crazy dominance during that time frame a VERY strong argument can be made that the only reason you got to share the title is because you couldn't play us.

    :thumbs

The only reason our schedule was easier was because we had two Big12 teams on it ;)

Ok, that was funny!!! :laughpound So excited about all of this, I live in Mi. and now I can actually see the Huskers in person when they visit here.

  4. 1620 the Zone quoted a famous movie and directed it towards Perlman, "Just when I thought you couldn't do anything dumber, you go and totaly redeem yourself!!!" :horns2 Also, who ever would have thought Osborne would come out swinging like that? He is the model of humility and WOW it was like Rocky punching out Mr. T in the final round.

  5. I would think it depends on if the conference dissolves. If CU and NU leave and wish to give their notice, I would say 1-2 yrs, but my thought would be that if the votes are available to dissolve the conference with this Pac 10 thing, it would be as soon as possible.

If the whole Big 12 falls apart in the next week or so, I think this season (2010) is it!!! We would probably all start our new conferences in 2011. Could be wrong, but if everyone bolts, what is the need to keep it going two more years and like another poster said, that would be weird.

  6. A good point was made by Jon Miller over on HawkeyeNation:

"Nebraska seems to be a pretty solid stylistic and cultural fit for this league, too. It will be fun playing them each year in football, but give this a thought; the league is welcoming in a team that has one of the ten best bowl traveling reputations in all of college football. So does Iowa, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State. But this means that Nebraska is a new face that will be seen as very attractive by the Capital One and Outback Bowls, because they haven’t been there and they travel well. For the next five or so years, the Huskers are going to ‘win’ many of these bowl coin flips."

Iowa has benefited from that many times so I suppose we can't complain if it bites us a few times. Of course that will only apply in years that Nebraska doesn't win the division (yeah yeah - many here will say that NE will always win the division...)

Most, if not all of the Big 10 Bowls have got to be loving this, Nebraska travels like no other. And I am not foolish enouph to think we will win every year. I do think we will be in the thick of it every year though. Of course this assumes the Bowls don't get eventually shot to heck because of this and we move to a playoff down the road.

  7. From everything I've read and heard the last few days, Big 10 schools are far more supportive of each other than the Big 12 ever was. As Husker fans do you think it will be hard and/or strange to cheer for other teams in our conference?

For me personally, I'm so excited about this, the new venues, traditions, etc., that I can't wait to support my conference! And I gotta say, never did I cheer for Missouri, CU, or K-State, regardless of their opponent in a bowl game.

There is one MAJOR exception to that. Ohio St. vs UM, now those two really do HATE each other. Most Buckeye fans can't even bring themselves to say the word Michigan, to quote Woody, "it's that state up north."

We didn't really hate anyone (us and OU always had a mutual respect for each other) until CU back in the 80's decided to just pick a fight with us. We just got tired of all of Texas's bullying.

  8. Something else to think about,( I put it here just to NOT start another freaking thread). Maybe this will keep the Big 10 regular season from ending so freaking early like it usaully does. I have often wondered if that is why the Big 10 sometimes struggles to win their Bowls because of the huge gap between when their season ends and Bowl game starts.

Back to the topic at hand, I think NU/IA makes more geographical sense than Penn St./NE. I also think it is way more likely.

  9. I think that with continued Husker success, we might complete some "Unfinished Business"

    Illinois (NU leads 7-2-1)

    Indiana (NU trails 7-9-3)

    Iowa (NU leads 26-12-3)

    Michigan (NU trails 2-3-1)

    Michigan State (NU leads 5-0)

    Minnesota (NU trails 20-29-2)

    Northwestern (NU leads 3-1)

    Ohio State (NU trails 0-2)

    Purdue (NU trails 0-1)

    Penn State (NU trails 6-7)

    Wisconsin (NU leads 3-2)

Minn has the largest advantage of wins over NU than any other team, including OU

Correct me if I am wrong, but a-lot of those games go wwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back, like decades. Some when we weren't very good at all. Just wondering.

  10. It was only about 14 year tradition. Im not to bent out of shape about it.

Besides, i always had sprint to get done with work to watch the game.

:dunno How old are you? That goes back alot farther than 14yrs my friend. Before sCUm took that spot we played it with OU every year going back for quite some time.

  11. I missed the "go back 15 years" part. My apologies Husker Nation. Please continue the recent domination of the Big Ten. :worship

Problem is, if you go farther back than the last 15yrs there are pretty big gaps between us playing teams from the Big 10. We lost to UM in the 85 Fiesta Bowl (which you can buy a copy of on DVD at any Miejer Grocery store here in Mi.) A very good close game though, final score was 27-24, I guess they like to watch that every time the get hacked about not be able to play us in 97. We did have a series with Penn St there for awhile in the late 70's and early 80's, plus a few games with Iowa during the same time. Minnesota and Lee Corso still have nightmares about playing us in the early 80's.

  12. If you look at our history against the Big 10, it's not bad at all. If you go back 15yrs to 95, we are 8-1 against them and 2-0 against Notre Dame which is just like playing in the Big 10 :) . Beat Mich St. 3-0, Tied Penn St. 1-1, Beat Iowa 2-0, Beat Mich. 1-0, and Northwestern 1-0. One of those teams was a Clownahan team in the Alamo bowl against Mich. Granted we were pretty good during most of those years, but we are well on are way to getting back to that. Food for thought.

  13. I really don't know how it could be the last straw considering it was the right call. Again, I don't think it had any impact at all.

WHEN HAS AN INCOMPLETE PASS OUT OF BOUNDS EVER BEEN REVIEWED TO SEE HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD BE PUT ON THE CLOCK? It was a non-reviewable play but they did it for Texas since they (ran) the conference. They (were) the CEO/Chairman of the old big twelve!!!!!

Never, only when it is Texas and they are not going to the BCS National Championship Game.

Tom Osborne brought up this point at the Big 12 meeting in KC. Quote was something like, (I guess we need some new guidelines/rules on how we put time back on the clock for incomplete passes) I will look it up and edit this.

I think the last straw was/were a couple things. All championship games to be in the state of Texas and not rotating them. All teams voting consistently with Texas and against NU. I think 11-1 was the common number on most votes involving Big 12 issues.

How many people remember the 93 Orange Bowl against Florida State. It was 4th and long with a few secs left to play. Tommie Fraizer completes a pass to give the Huskers a 1st down and get in field goal range, but time had expired. The refs review the play and determine that 3 sec should be added on the clock. We kick a long field goal but we missed it. We lost the game 16 to 18, if we would of made that we would of won 3 mnc three years in a row and 4 of 5 years. The point is our Huskers got 3 sec added after the clock had expired and I heard no bitching about it. So please lets give this a rest. The reason were going to the Big 10 it is what is best for Nebraska. Even if we had beat Texas last year we are still gone.

Here come those pesky FACTS again. :cop: You'll notice that all we will here now is crickets.

Do yourself a favor and find some of the threads in which we discussed the CCG play back in December. You'll find that this was brought up several times in those conversations, with most folks agreeing that the situations were similar.

    Don't just assume everyone's a blind homer. We're pretty open-minded here.

Not sure if you are talking to me or not, if so, what the heck are you talking about!!! I wasn't in anyway saying anyone is a homer, I was joking around thats all. I have been around about as long as you (obviously don't post as often) so I am quite aware of everyones open mindedness. Anyway, some Mods are a little to touchy at times, just an opinion.

Perhaps I misunderstood your "crickets" comment. What did you mean by that?

It was a joke I have seen used on this board before that once someone introduces facts into an argument then usually you don't here anything from the other side anymore. Again it WASN'T meant to offend at all, I was joking about the whole thing even coming up again. I remember well and participted in those discussions last Dec. and remember the whole thing being debated into the ground. I personally think Osborne is way above letting that incident cloud is judgement to the point that it's his reason for leaving the Big 12.
