  2. :thumbs I heard Butch Davis' name as head coach. He just started at NC do we really think he will leave after one season?

Jim Leavitt turned USF from nothing to big timers. Do we really think he will leave what he worked so hard to create?

Tommy Tuberville is doing a good job at Auburn but would he really leave a good team for a team in turmoil?

Turner Gill is building Buffalo to something. But if I were him it would be a big decision. We didn't want him before as HC so why would he want to come back? Plus the pressure is high and in Buffalo he can relax.

Norv Turner, really guys 1st season coaching the chargers do we really think he will leave after one year to come here?

Bo Pelini, we can cross our fingers and hope Lloyd Carr doesn't retire. If he does Les Miles will most likely bolt to the blue and Pelini will get a promotion.

Joe Glenn only because he is a hometown guy, only reason. Wyoming hasn't done much and they don't look like they are going anywhere soon.

Jim Harbaugh (my 1st pick) but I don't think he will leave Stanford he is in his first season with them.

I like Paul Johnson or Brian Kelly both are talented and have good resumes, I think they need a chance to move to a big time school in a big time conference (look at Urban Meyer,Jim Tressel). The guys need a chance to shine

    My top 3

    1. Jim Harbaugh-young and a great knowledge :thumbs

    2. Butch Davis-great college coach with great defenses

    3. Brian Kelly-good coach with a good resume

    4. Paul Johnson-took a not so good team into someone that can compete.

    What does everyone else think?

Norv Turner? I don't know where you heard this, but please never mention it again.

  3. Just read this on the Austin newspaper:

    Coaching speculation

By Kirk Bohls | Thursday, November 15, 2007, 07:35 PM

Don’t bet the house on it yet, but it appears the frontrunner for the Baylor job is former Bears great Mike Singletary and for the Nebraska job is former Cornhusker player and assistant Craig Bohl.

Singletary may be the one guy that would make a big splash in Waco. It’d be a good gamble on a guy who’s never been a head coach before.

Bohl may not be sexy, but he’s won 43 of 54 and a Division II national championship at North Dakota State, which is at the end of a five-year transition to I-A. Bohl served as a Nebraska assistant for eight seasons, graduated from there and served as defensive coordinator there and at Rice. He’d be solid and is ingrained in the Cornhusker culture, but if I were a Nebraska fan, I’d throw a lot of money at West Virginia’s Rich Rodriguez or first-year North Carolina coach Butch Davis, who hasn’t bought a house in the Chapel Hill area. Texas A&M or Arkansas might beat Nebraska to Davis.

    Good Lord. Shoot me.

  4. Fox Sports blog

    Mr. Gill,

I wouldn't normally take the time to write like this, but I had back surgery and I have far more free time than I can stand!

I think the whole world must know by now that Nebraska is suffering a rough patch. As you can imagine, Nebraskan's are foaming at the bit to find out what will happen next. (and for other reasons...)

I know I can't ask you a slew of leading questions on the matter as your probably not at liberty to respond to them, and I respect that.

What do you think of the situation facing Nebraska? Is this a poetic

I guess the big question everyone is asking, with Dr. Tom back, would you consider returning to Nebraska as the Head coach if the offer was right?

Good luck to the Bulls when they face Bowling Green. You and your team would be amazed at the far larger audience that is pulling for you guys.

    Thanks a million,

    My real name etc etc

    Hello Dan,

Thank you for the kind words. I truly believe everything happens for a reason. Whatever happens with the Huskers or whatever happens with my future is in God's hands.

    Have a blessed day,

    Turner Gill

I emailed Turner also. I received a response back which really excited me. But now that I read this, I am very disappointed. His response to your email is EXACTLY the same response I received. Word for word. Looks like he is probably getting a ton of emails from Husker fans and has put set his email on out of office assistant.

Um...yeah. I imagine he's got enough going on that he probably doesn't have time to answer thousands of emails from psychotic Nebraska fans like us. Let the man do his job, and if it is to be then he'll be here.

  5. Someone's been overlooked, #15

    Beau Davis?

    :clap:clap:clap:clap

As this thread begins to venture off topic, this reminds me of an awkward Billy C quote that came earlier this fall. When discussing the quarterback battle between Ganz and Keller (I think at Big 12 media days), Callahan refers to Beau Davis as a 'journeyman' quarterback. How is this possible, he committed to Bill in shortly after Bill's arrival in Lincoln in early 2004 and has been in the system ever since. Isn't a journeyman someone who has played for multiple teams?

When considering and recalling stupid things he has said, the thing you need to keep in mind is this:

Billy C is a freaking moron.

  6. Has anyone heard or brought up Craig Bohl as a potential canidate? Born in Lincoln. Played for Tom 77-79. 8 Years as linebackers coach at Nebraska. 3 Years as Defensive Coordinator. (95-96-97) I heard the Huskers were pretty good those years. Currently head Coach at North Dakota State. Has Built former Division II NDSU into a 1-AA Powerhouse in less than 5 Years. Has won multiple coach of the year awards and currently has the NDSU Bison ranked #1 in the nation for 1-AA. A little light on the experince side, but between running the Husker Defense during the championship years and building a D-II School into a 1-AA Powerhouse in less than 5 years, seems like the guy can get things done.

Not sure where you got your info. Remember that Charlie McBride guy? He was DC through '99. Bohl's years as DC were '00-'02, and he sucked ass.
