Might want to go read the other 176 pages.
I have. There are like 3 people responsible for large portion of the posts and they constantly mention Meyer and Sanders. They'll likely be the ones doing most of the complaining when neither happens.

Klieman and or Leipold are really good coaches that the fan base would boycott if announced as our next HC. Some obvious facts about some of these guys.
Matt Rhule rebuilt Baylor before Aranda came on board. Aranda is doing a fine job, but he didn't inherit a mess.
Klieman inherited a pretty solid program from Snyder, but has beaten OU 3 out of the last 4 years...........3-1 against OU.
Leipold inherited the worst P-5 program in the country and even if they don't win another game this season, he has done a really good job. 4-0 Again, if they don't win another game, he is still a great coach.
I believe that either of these coaches would be great gets, but they are not sexy hires and might not win 9 games in there first season here, but they will rebuild our lost culture and start to develop our players once again. I am not against Aranda, but he didn't remake Baylor or rebuild Baylor. He actually inherited a pretty good program. If Texas keeps losing, whose there next HC? Aranda? Meyer? Something to keep an eye on going forward.............
The bolded sentence is bulls#!t.

Sean Payton lol
He was somewhat in the mix before Callahan was hired. Not very likely to happen, but not a crazy thought.

Its good work by the administration. Would've liked to have seen an escalator clause to keep the $ relevant as other programs sign/re-sign these type of deals.

I'm the lone oddball. I prefer an offensive minded head coach with a great defensive coordinator. It doesn't matter much though as long as they get to WINNING.
Im with you on this. In general, I've felt that offense minded coach has a better feel for the overall team "identity" and game management (despite Frost). I feel so much more can go wrong with the offense, where as if there is a solid D strategy it can somewhat auto-pilot, in comparison to offenses.

If Nebraska is in any bowl game, I'm watching. Else, I don't necessarily care about other lower tier bowl games.

Many on this board and most that I've talked with in person want nothing to do with Meyer. I don't think there's a Scott Frost out there that's going to unite/satisfy 99% of the fan base. Prepare to be disappointed since odds are "your guy" isn't going to be the replacement.

It fascinates me the thought that an AD gets a one and only chance to hire the correct/perfect head football coach.

I will say that our offense definitely misses the QB run game. Maybe not necessarily Martinez, but certainly the threat.
-
I miss an aggressive type of defense like I saw from OU.

Agee about too many posts.
However I voted.
Mark Stoops for me today. Excited though to see what Mickey brings.

Lol funny you mention clock management. On GSUs final drive with an eternity left in the game yet, the first play where the kid caught the ball and ran OB, the clock continued to run for 20 seconds. I knew it was going to come back to bite us haha.
Not like it matters, I’m pretty certain the loss and the firing has been a better result than what would have happened had they pulled it out.
I get your thought, yet I was actually happy they scored quickly. I had no hope that the D would make a stop. Was happy they scored fast enough to give our O an extra chance.

While maybe not as smooth of speaker as some (maybe some nerves), I thought he expertly answered the questions. Super job side-stepping a couple of baiting questions.
Fired up for him!

^^^ I Love it!
I especially appreciate the statement about tackling.

Neon Deion Sanders? 2-0 and heck of a recruiter.
Doubt it happens, but would be very intriguing.

TL;DR
Of course things can get worse, but the program is much further from greatness than it is to zero wins. So chances are better that this move works out for the better; whatever you define "better" to be.

Trev is getting MJ leeway to relieve coaches as he sees fit.
No reason to continue the DC charade. Hope he pulls the trigger.

So three conference titles games between the Big 12 and Big Ten was not progress?
Do you see any similarity to what you’re saying about Bo and what was said about Osborne? ‘Can win 9-10 games but can’t beat Oklahoma…. Then can win in the Midwest but can’t beat Florida Speed… then chokes in the big game for all the marbles.’ If you only focus on the faults, you ignore the quality of the good. Sustained success is far more impressive than occasional excellence.
No. I know what I saw. And how Bo performed in his subsequent jobs only confirmed it. He had hit his ceiling.

Would you say we were making progress with Bo or not? Three conference titles games in seven years (across two vastly different conferences). Add in the fact that his boss and his boss’ boss hated the guy and undercut him at every turn? I would say it was miraculous that the team kept winning during that time.
In the end? No. The die was cast with him. Could get the team to 9 wins, but never more than 10; will consistently lose 4 games. And those losses would either be against teams that shouldve been wins or blowouts to the really good teams. Like many others, could/would not adjust his defensive scheme to the opponent.

I think +90% of the fanbase would happily take a "Bo Like average." Hell, I think 99% of college football fans would take the nine wins a year at their programs so long as it was consistently nine or more. Nine wins a year often gets you to your conference title game fairly often. And if you are playing for your conference title regularly, it indicates that you're performing at or above the level of your peers. The "games that matter" mattered because we took care of business against the teams that had less advantage/talent/coaching.
Expecting the dominance of the 80s & 90s is not reasonable for our program in this day and age.
Id be fine with a few years of 9 or 10 wins per season with 3 or 4 blowout losses. Then I'd want to see additional progress.

Dan Mullen with a solid D-coordinator would be interesting. He could win a lot of games here against the Big Ten West.
Bill O'Brien is going to be one of the top choices.
Lance Leipold is one to watch for sure. If he can get Kansas to 7-8 wins, he can do that and more here. At the very least he can get us back to winning football games.
I do not know Matt Rhule's age but he would be solid.
Lane would be a meme hire but would win here.
Jeremey Chadwell could come here but we already tried the great G5 coach route.
I'd have no problem with Chadwell IF he is able to bring in a solid D, and not get hung up on the nepotism our previous coaches have failed to suppress. Rhule is probably my top choice of those names.

A lot of names out there that would appear to be quality candidates.
What I'm hoping NU does not get is someone where NIL and Portal are recent changes to the back-end of the candidates coaching career.
I guess that means I'd prefer someone under the age of 50. (No, I don't mean Scott Frost.)
