  1. Actually, I like the QB draw. The problem is that neither QB seems to execute it well. They don't seem to sell the pass. They drop back and immediately take off when there's no hole. Gotta sit in the pocket and look around for a while, then take off.

  2. This is what I had to endure Monday and Tuesday. Admittedly, the shelf life has probably expired.....

    Husker burger recipe:

Put a burger on the grill...turn if over 8 times and its done!

    And.................

I hear they started a new donut shop in Memorial stadium... actually they

    specialize in turnovers!

    And..........

The players decided at half time that if they won, they would carry Bo

Pelini off the field on their shoulders. They decided it was just as well

they lost, because they would have dropped him anyway.

  3. Guys don't get me wrong because I'm not a big Lee fan but he didn't play awful. He is an average QB who has trouble looking downfield and likes to check down way to often. I would have liked to see Green get some reps. I know Green is going to make more mistakes than Lee but after watching the Texas Tech game it looks like he might actually throw the ball downfield. I'm also tired of seeing Lee run QB reads and get 2 yards. But this game can't all be pinned on Lee. We are expecting greatness from a average guy. We need to run the ball more...and if Helu wasn't banged up like Bo said why didn't he get more carries?

    ding ding ding

That is exactly what I was wondering during the press conference. Did we really need to know the answer to "Did you think the defense kept NU in the game?" or something ridiculous like that which was asked by one of the reporters.

Trey had a decent game, but nobody is left that has the explosiveness of Helu.

  4. Actually I thought they were average at best. They did miss some calls that wouldve gone ISU's way, but the most obvious one they missed was the late hit and horse collar after the blocked FG attempt. Funny, if that obvious one is called correctly, NU probably gets at least a FG on the drive, and NU probably hangs on to win.

  5. Ya know this team is only 4-2. It's not like were at the end of the season looking at 5-7. Still got plenty of football to be played. Yes Watson may need to go but hell Lee did decent. The WR's and RB's fumbled the ball too much. Things will turn around. Not going to meltdown at this point in the season.

Actually, we're now 4-3 and the easiest game left on the sched is next week. Baylor isn't any worse than the team that just beat us.

  6. So are you saying we should fire the players LOL? It all starts with the coaching and that's who is held responsible.

I know this question wasn't directed at me, but in essence, why not? Do we have so little depth, at say WR, that we can't bench guys, at least for long stretches during games, due to drops and fumbles? Riding the bench is the ultimate punishment. If there's no threat of the bench, then IMO there's not negative enough consesquences to help correct the lack of focus.

  7. The lack of attempting to block punts is something that I haven't seen brought up. Its bothered me all year, and today it finally burned us with the fake. Im surprised it took an opposing coach this long to pull that off.

Why do we never try to block punts? I could see if we had a great return game, but since we don't what gives?

  8. For all those that say oh we are nebraska were to go to boo, heres a wake up call. First for the last 40 years we played pretty much every game competitvely at home, so there was no need for the booing. However over the last 6 years, even before our last f up coach, the play and enthusiams of the players is suffering. Now its great that we dont boo the other team, i mean thats very respectable and we shouldnt. But I think if we dont like a product that we see on the field week to week then we should be allowed to voice our opinions. Im not going to sit there spending serious money to watch a piss poor effort. I also feel extremly sorry for the defense since they play their guts out and its just unreal that the offense cant score more than 7 points on an Iowa State team, i mean i dont want to even think about oklahoma now.

Couldn't agree more! Booing doesn't make you a bad fan, it just means you care passionately and expect to see a good effort. Why not hold our team to a higher standard? Should we just sit back and accept the fact that were heading for the bottom of the big 12 like Iowa St and K St were for so many years. Booing is one of the only ways we have as fans to voice our displeasure.

I agree. I wish I had the guts to say this last week when everyone was up in arms about the "classlessness" of booing. To me, booing/cheering = passion, quiet when there's nothing to cheer about = apathy. I saw too much apathy for my taste during the Cally regime.

  9. I didn't see that.

I think the oline played one of its best games. The running backs were moving the ball. Helu should not have been on the field. That started our fumble nightmare. Robinson looked very good other than his I am great actions at the end of a couple of runs.

Our problem is the vertical game. We do not have WR's that are consistent. McNeil should be used far more than he is.

And you must remember that our D was pretty well handled most of the fourth quater. This against a R freshman and running back. Their two top play makers never taking the field. The D did not help us much in the fourth quarter, but they were most likely getting tired.

I just see this game as an aberation. Not going to see this again.

    Keep the faith.

Why aberration? I see an offensive in serious trouble that seems to be regressing further each week. I was willing to forgive the VTech game as Lane is a tough place to play, and Lee's first game. I was willing to forgive the first 3 qrtrs at Mizzou due to weather. The last 2 weeks? Sorry, this is officially two in a row where the offense has been an abomination.

  10. Yeah, based on its use by other teams around the nation, I must be the only one who doesn't like it.

But walking out like that would really not pump me up.

I'll agree with you. Jumping around like yahoos gets me pumped up too. "Holding hands" sure didn't mean anything today.

  11. I dont think pelini finds it too necessary to blitz when he has the best dline in the nation. just my thought.

Normally I'd agree, but considering the sad state of the offense, I think the defense needs to get even more agressive, at least in a game like this, where one major sack or turnover by the D maybe makes the difference between W and L.

  12. I'll jump in the fray. Osborne compared Pelini to Bob Devaney. I think its a fairly appropraiate comparison. Pelini needs to continue to act like Devaney and find himself a Tom Osborne to coordinate the offense. Watson is no Osborne.

I'm not trying to bash Watson per se. But his offense exposes its own talent deficiencies. As much as I like option football, I know I'm not in the majority that would like to see it return. But we need an offense that minimizes talent deficiencies, and option football happens to be one type of scheme that can do that. Watson's offense is not a big play offense, its build on ball control. IMO NU needs an explosive scheme, that can be learned and executed at nearly any talent level.

  13. Hopefully the star recruit, can't remember his name, realizes there are some snaps available for him on the field.

Thats kind of how I look at it. Ya, I can see where performances like this could turn off an offensive recruit, but by the same token, a good recruit should be able to see where our holes are at and feel like he can contribute immediately.

  14. I get that this thread is meant as tounge-in-cheek, but I'll make a "serious" comment.

I do question why, especially when it was clear that our offense was sputtering, that Pelini didn't dial up more blitzes. I agree that the D played well, and I know I'm nitpicking, but really, this whole year, I haven't seen the blitzes dialed up like "classic" Pelini D's of 2003 and LSU. I wonder with a backup QB today, if blitzing the snot out of him wouldn't have forced him into some game changing turnovers. Each week I keep waiting for the patented Pelini blitzes and fake blitzes, yet they never come. Today, I remember the one where Hagg nearly got a sack, but otherwise I'm failing to remember another.

  15. I too disagree that Zac played "well". I think where the issue comes in is that many of us were sold on Lee being good, and possibly an upgrade over Ganz. In my mind Lee is an average QB (Whatever happened to his supposed running ability?). He isn't THE problem with the offense, but he is part of it. He's a caretaker type QB. If he was surrounded by talent, he would be a good fit. Unfortunately, he doesn't have either the physical and/or leadership abilities to put the team on his back and "win" games. This is why I would prefer to see Green take over. He's certainly more raw than Lee, but I beleive he's got more talent, and may be a better leader.

  16. usually he is blunt, but damn, he is being just RUDE!

He's not really answering anything, he's just ticked as hell...

    "how disappointing is this loss?"

STARE DOWN FROM BO... "Next question..."

You people drive me crazy about these threads on Bo's behavior during a post game interview.

Were you happy about this lose????

Did you get sick and disgusted while watching this game???

Did you see Bo at half time walking off the field and then turning around to notice the crowd booing???

Did you see how horrible our Offense is???? VT, Mizzou, and TT took us 4 quarters until we scored a TD

Did you see the easy drop passes and poor execution????

If you're truely a Husker fan this game should've gotten your blood boiled with all of the Offensive miscues and having a coach show some emotion after this embarrassing loss and telling it as it is. Our Offensive Lineman didn't come ready to play, our QB can't throw the ball even if his life was on the line, and our WR's are dropping the easiest passes that WR's dream about.

    agreed

  17. Thanks, TrueMizzou. By the end of the 3rd qrtr I was already thinking how I needed to show class and congratulate Mizzou.

I've definitely gained a knew level of respect for the Mizzou program this year. I expected now that all the "good" seniors were gone that this team would fall back to fighting for a bowl. I was wrong this is a good team.

Also, its hard for me as a Husker fan to further buy into any "ESPN hates us!" banter. That had to be awfully annoying having to listen to how great Suh and the Husker D is while Mizzou held a 12-0 lead. Even though NU's D did have a great game, I was a bit embarrased by the love considering the score.

As much as this loss sucks for Mizzou, I think they'll be fine considering outside expectations. Had NU lost, it would have been devastating from a national perspective. I dont know. Maybe that makes you feel worse (j/k).

  18. Discuss all you want, but there was only one call that mattered...you can't get the monkey off your back by punting when victory is only one yard away. bad call.

I disagree. If they were running up and down the field on 'em then, yes, you get that first. The correct decision was made. The defensive exectuion and play calling afterwards were questionable.
