  1. Probably not even the Alamo... Maybe the Texas Bowl...I dunnoo Insight.com Bowl...car quest bowl...some third tier thing. We have to buildback up some. Anything Alamo Bowl or higher is really unlikely.

I cant see why we wouldnt be better than 2 games above last year. Certainly its all speculation, but after NU went 7-6, a new staff was brought in, sans HC, and the next year ended up 9-3. It seems your predicting a 6-6 year. Personally, I think that would be an underachievement. Even at 7-5 I think that would mean NU lost some games it shouldnt have. We'll see. :)

  2. Good question LMS. I for one am not really interested in Lucky's personal life other than he stay out of trouble and goes to class sot that he doesnt make NU look bad. No reason though for the assinine responses to a question you're obviously have some interest in getting an answer to, especially considering some of the wastes of time posts I see here daily. You didnt ask for my defense, but I'm providing it in anyway. :)

  3. Not sure if "dropped" is the term I'd use to describe the '84 2-point conversion miss. The d-back knocked it away before it ever reached Smith's hands. Just wanted to clean that up.

    Best

    --------

    1. '95 Orange Bowl

    2. '96 Fiesta Bowl

    (too many to choose from)

    3. I think it was '83(?) when NU beat OU in Norman where Neil Harris (I think) tipped away a pass at the end to seal it.

    3. I think it was '78(?) when Siimms fumbled at the end to seal it in Lincoln. I remember the awe I felt watching the fans rush the field. This is my earliest memory of Husker football.

    Worst

    ---------

    1. The way many outside of NE find Osborne's image tarnished due to a perceived mishandling of Lawrence Phillips.

    2. Hiring Callahan instead of Pelini or Gill. (Obviously this is an after-the-fact worst moment.)

    3. The Disaster in the Desert (This wouldve been the '84 Orange Bowl, but the '94 and '95 seasons cured it.)

  4. did anyone catch the part.. "Bo expressed that he made it clear between him and the folks at Nebraska that as a condition of him being hired, that he would be coaching in the NC." or something like that. i don't disagree with him coaching in the game at all... glad he did. i just thought it was kinda weird that i had to be surprised when i heard that. am i the only one?

I caught it and mentioned it in the game thread. I think that was just a talking head repeating something that he heard inaccurately. Bo was not going to turn TO down if TO was against him coaching last night. I think the fact that they both liked the idea made the whole thing easier to accept by both parties, but I doubt that it was a condition of employment.

  5. I'm so jacked, I'm thinking of flying in from AZ for this game. Bo's and Co. are going to get quite a response when they take the field.

    Hey..Me Too!!!

My Birthday is the 20th and my best Friend and his wife's BD's are on that same weekend (They live a couple miles from Memorial)..I haven't been back for a couple years.

Wow. Mine is the 26th. Small world. Nice to see another AZ4NE. I'm originally from South Omaha. Now live in far North Phoenix. Usually catch the games in Glendale at Max's or Kaddy Korner downtown when games not on regular TV/cable. Where do you watch?

  6. Great article!

So if LSU gives up 35 pts tonight, do we all overreact and jump off the Bo bandwagon? :sarcasm

How is that sarcasm ? We all know if the LSU defense gets torn up all the Husker haters will be piling on.... whatever happens, Bo is a good coach so don't get too caught up in this game tonight

LOL! Well, I was refering to some of the Husker "fans" here.

  7. This got me thinking more about the recruiting hype and how I've been suckered in at times also. Those of us that tend to forget need to be reminded that sites like scout and rivals are strickly money grabs. They provide a few opinions of how good a particular player could/should be. They cant take into account coaching and rarely do they take into account the players' attitudes. Its all for entertainment value. Much like the WWE. :corndance

  8. skrsfan's opinion is his opinion. I dont know him and am not trying to bash him, but I would find it highly suspect that one would hire a toothless AD to apease the football fans/boosters. What about the other sports? Would he be toothless for those programs also? Would different boosters who are interested in different sports, run their specific program? This wouldnt make any sense.

Assumming that Tom is an AD like every other AD, why the concern over Osborne's influence on the football program? Too much power? If, so when as TO ever struck you as the type of person that would over step his bounds? Solich? When you get down to the heart of it, if Byrne's wanted someone else he could have hired someone else. I'd rather have someone with football knowledge and an understanding of our culture influencing our coach, than just having an administrative geek who knows nothing but dollar signs. Wouldnt you? I guess I'm used to mgnt that knows whats going on in day-to-day operations and has an understanding of it. So to me, TO and Bo "bouncing ideas off of each other" doesnt seem bad or strange to me. I prefer it.

I'm sure TO asked all potential hires who they wouldve wanted to hire as assistants. And those responses SHOULD have played a part in who TO ultimately hired.

  9. I dont know how Solich should be honored, but regardless of whether one wanted him gone or not, he definitely was a great Husker and was a huge part of the "40 year" run of success. Since the program did slip under his watch, I dont hold him in the same regard as Osborne or Devaney, but he's certainly worthy of Husker respect.

  10. :):hellloooo:hellloooo:)

The Huskers have played in Hawaii before. Not sure but I think it was in the '70ies. What I do remember is that with all the fans who wanted to go to the game it turned out to be the largest "air lift" since the Berlin Air Lift of the '50ies. With Hawaii's new prominence and with the recruiting plusses a game like this brings I'm betting Dr. Tom makes this happen.

    >>>T_O_B

    :):corndance:corndance:)

Actually, at the end of the '83 season, NU traveled to Hawaii and was treated rudely by the home town officiating. I believe NU was losing 10-0 at the half, but roared back in the second to win it 38-10. My mom let me stay up late to watch the first half. :)

  11. And see how well that worked out for everybody. Who really cares what whiners have to say?

If he wasn't a senior already, either Bo would man him up or he'd quit and go crying to his mama.

Based on what appeared to be a backhanded comment about the fans, I'm calling him out as the whiner. Jamal Lord aside, has there ever been a group of Husker players (Callahan's) that did so much belly-aching about the fans? Traditionally Husker players have liked the fan support. Of course if a player doesnt give his all, should he expect "all" from the fans? Quid pro quo, Corey.

  12. I didnt listen to the whole show, but its too bad that Favre was on shortly after. Everyone started commenting about Favre and the Pelini interview kind of got forgotten about. Pelini gave a fantastic interview.

  13. Are there really people on here comparing what i type to text messageing. Umm how about gbr or imo. Sorry im not into short internet talk lingo. I apologize if my spelling, grammer, and sentence structure doesnt suit your better then average needs. I just didnt think it was necessary to put a spell checker on something that isnt going to be sent to a teacher. Were adults and you can understand what im saying. For crine out loud just deal with the topic on hand or dont answer it at all.

    Ben

...yes, "for crine out loud". :laughpound

lol.....Anyway, I hope just hope the guy comes back after moonlighting in New Orleans.
