I’m answering “would suck if Nebraska won’t match”.

I completely disagree.  I think they likely could get in a bidding war, but it’s simply not worth it.  He’s trying to build a culture not win a Barrett Jackson auction.

This program has done so many things wrong by “gambling”.  Why do it again?

Nebraska is a back up plan in 1-3 years for him(my speculation).  I’m fine with that.

I can agree to disagree. Admittedly, I don't know what percentage is 3.5M against the NIL budget. That number doesn't seem outrageous compared to other numbers been rumored for top QB recruits.

    You don’t know that.

it’s a value proposition.  Buying a sports car doesn’t make you rich.  It means you have a sports car.

So the way you're "answering" my question is that the money is there, but the allocation strategy doesn't work for Raiola.

You’re spending other people’s money.  A lot easier to do on a message board.

Well, sure. Of course. My point was an implied question about how far behind is NU to UGA on the payment front, or is it something else.

$3.5 million for someone that hasn’t taken a snap?  I think it’ll get there eventually for NU, but at this point it’s not worth it.  Use other team/program’s money to navigate the NIL s show.

    Legacy #1 recruit? Absolutely!

Its not just about him either, but who else he can influence to commit to NU.

Probably already been touched upon, but Schaefer on 1620 is indicating that Raiola to Georgia is predominently NIL related.

Will suck if true that NU can't or won't match what UGA is offering.

  6. From purely a fanbase and support perspective, I've always thought the NU football program was most like an SEC program - "it just means more".  Ohio St has the only other B1G football program I'd firmly state the same about.

Penn St might have an argument, and maybe UW is changing toward that direction with the Fickle hire.

I'd put no other B1G football program in that category, including Michigan and the California new-comers.

OK, I get that people think that.  But, what really do they gain?  They still will need to have a governing body that brings structure and organization to the sport.  More than there is now anyway.

If they don't like the NCAA, they have all the power to change it.

Youre correct that they would still need governance. However, NCAA rules have to account for all sports at all levels. I could see the top football/basketball conferences establishing their own governance outside the NCAA. The other sports could still reside under the NCAA umbrella.

Outside of bringing back nationally recognized Husker heroes as Athletic Director and Head Coach and throwing s#!tloads of money at them, where did this administration go wrong?

I wasn't specifically referring to Green. Were you? I haven't heard much negative about Green's tenure in respect to the football program or sports as a whole.

What are your expectations when you’re not trying to keep them in check?

Okay. Maybe "expectation" was the wrong word choice. Maybe "excitement" or "hopes" would've been better terms.

But I'll own it, and throw it back... We've read about and seen Rhule's program development (Temple and Baylor) , and based on the players he's so far landed in a month on the job, why would you not have an expectation that he can resurrect this program in short order?

short order = before season 4

    resurrection = 9+ wins

This was me 40 years ago.

While I was glad Alberts hired Rhule, I didn't have the same level of excitement like when Frost was hired.

However, after reading and listening to the sound bites, and now seeing how his recruiting class panned out (plus the transfers), I'm probably more convinced than I should be at this point that we are going to see a legit resurrection of this program. I just need to keep my expectations in check for next season; would not be surprised if this is a playoff team in year 3 (maybe 2?).

People b!^@h and moan that the “regular season doesn’t matter” with an expanded playoff.

Well giving conference champs a 1st round bye makes the regular season matter.

"Doesn't matter" is hyperbole, yet it will dramatically reduce any drama for most early and midseason games, and only add back some of that drama in some additional later season games.

The conversation changes from "Holy s#!t! Alabama is going to miss the playoff" after losing to Tennessee, to "Eh. I guess Alabama wont get a first round bye".
