  1. Stupid penalties.

    Horrible tackling.

    Atrocious offensive game plan.

    No rushing attack.

    Pathetic short passing game.

    Turnovers.

--Congrats coaching staff, you're officially 4 points better than the 2007 campaign. <_<

Nice to see true Husker fans are censored on a night when people like this can get away with throwing "their" team under the bus. :madash

**Nevermind... I don't mean to start anything... moving on.**

  2. This team is an abomiNation.

I think Missouri is just confirming what most already know... they are a damn good team and they will probably make it to (and lose to Oklahoma in) the Big 12 championship game. They are WAY better than us and it shows... but we've given then 1, maybe 2, scores off mental mistakes and problems... penalties, etc. But an abomination? No... Just a major work in progress... let's see them play to the final whistle and I'll be very impressed.

  3. I love the Huskers as much as anyone, but after watching the debacle that was the first half of this game, this is not a goood football team. Honesty sucks, I know. You can't point at one weakness; they execute poorly in every aspect of the game. So, I guess you could say they are consistent. You can beat me up all you want, but it's a fact. And here's another one you can beat me up over: This coaching staff is NOT getting it done. I'm not calling for anyone's head, but Pelini and company are as much to blame as anyone, perhaps more so.

I can not friggin believe you wrote this, on this night, at this time in the game/season. I will freely admit Nebraska is my adopted team (I am from Los Angeles but my wife is a Nebraska alum and I fell in love day one in Lincoln)... but to hear someone actually call out the coaching staff after 4.5 games and say the coaching staff is "not getting it done"... WTF???

These are the same defensive players Kosgrove had last year... what did you expect, for Pelini to come in and wave a friggin wand and make everything in the land of Osborne do a 180?? Come on... show a little loyalty and desire for your team to fight hard until the end. Pelini must be allowed to recruit players to his system and his methodology. Until then, all we can ask for is to fight and fight and fight and never give up, even if down 31-10 at halftime.

Giving up at halftime reminds me of when I played football... at the age of 9!!! Grow up...

  4. I know Callahan had children, but I believe they were older by the time he moved to Nebraska... so don't shoot me for offering this up.

I think it's very good that Bo has young kids. Although his kids (all under 10) aren't college age, it sure helps having someone who raising kids himself coaching Nebraska's finest. My wife and I were talking and we were saying how great it would be if our son (now 4) could one day play for Bo. I think his fatherly instinct will also help in terms of working with players off the field, just like T.O. is famous for.

  5. "Devaney, Osbourne, Solich, ....Pelini"

Oh God, this one got me rolling! :clap I think a little tweak though, if you don't mind... somebody make this shirt and I'll buy one for every member of my family!

    "Nebraska: A Great Coaching Tradition...

Devaney, Osborne, Solich, ... , Pelini"

    Perfect!!!!!!!!

  6. Even if that one person, or more, continues voting for Eddie Robinson, why can't you all reset your macros and out-vote him? :) Also, do you have to delete your cookies after each vote or can you vote over and over and over and over without deleting them? Thanks everyone... keep it up!

  7. So... we all sent in e-mails to ESPN asking them to fix the obvious errors on Osborne's stat sheet. They took forever, but finally complied... 25 bowls in 25 years. In addition, the misspelled his name the first few days this was out and that was quickly fixed... BUT it took until today (3 or 4 weeks late) to change the color behind his name to RED! Jeez!! I think we all sent at least three e-mails to them and they finally got it done... bravo. :sarcasm

  8. Yeah its OK socal. I didnt mean to be a dick, was just saying that he has been mentioned many times.

Hey, no worries at all. Between my job, my wife, and my two young kids, I hardly get a chance to vote for T.O. for Best Coach of All Time, let alone read all the posts. I just like to contribute so I may get repetetive at times. :-)

  9. I was thinking tonight... what about Solich? None of us are talking about him and yet he was hand-picked by Osborne before.

So... the guy who is conducting the search for the next head coach is the same guy who hand-picked Frank Solich to succeed him at the helm. Then, without Osborne's approval, Solich was fired after a 9-3 year and after showing that he can bring in solid coordinators to complete his staff (i.e. Bo Pelini)... So now, with Osborne back in charge of picking a head coach, why wouldn't he at least look back at Solich and say to himself "He never really got his chance to get going". Or did he?

I'd love Husker Nation's thoughts on this subject... seems logical to me, but perhaps just not the right time for a change like this. Would the fan base support his return? Would he have success?

  10. I hate to be an a$$ but I have to ask... what are your sources? I think your scenario may very, very well be true... but on the other hand, I am skeptical of everything that doesn't come directly from T.O.'s mouth. It seems he would have a hard time lying and if he says he hasn't offered it to anyone, I believe him. Thoughts?

  11. I don't get it... Who are they comparing it to? Maybe I'm missing something but if Nebraska is a 7, not a 10, then what is Miami? Or Florida State? Or Alabama? All traditional powers who provided many years of entertaining football to this country... only now to be put down by ESPN radio? Michigan has it's ups and down... so does Notre Dame... even Ohio State struggled for many years. So... WHO ARE THEY COMPARING NEBRASKA TO? I don't get it...

If they are saying that we THINK we are a 10, but in reality are a 7, what must they then think of other schools who dominated for much of the 80's and 90's and who are now a little down?

I think all too often "analysts" like to look at only the here and now. They don't see college football for the century-plus history of it... they see LSU and USC (recent strong upswings, after years of being down (USC lost to UCLA a LOT in the 90s)) and they think "Wow, this is the best team I've ever seen!" Well, the "analysts" back in 1984 said Nebraska was the best team ever... so who's right? Nobody knows, especially not ESPN.

  12. Looks like people voting for Joe Paterno (now at 4%) are driving Osborne and Bryant's numbers down. Osborne's lead is down to 4% so we need to keep this up! I know a few people who have "slacked" off and are now voting again... it's easy to take 15 minutes 3 times a day and vote 20-30 times. Also spread the word on other Husker message boards!!!

  13. Thanks Sarge! It would appear his vote percentage is going lower because we are voting less often than the rest of the coaches are being voted for, combined... so a little drop is expected... but it's getting too close now. Everyone, over the holiday, vote as often as you can... then next week we will really hit it with everything we've got, ensuring a victory on December 1!

  14. My wife met me in the winter of 2002 and took me to Memorial Stadium to see all the sights (I am a Los Angeles native and had never been east of Las Vegas before meeting her)... I surprised her the next summer with tickets to the Troy State game (so the 2002 Troy State game). We spent $125 on two tickets on the 35, right near the band. My best memories of the game are:

    1) how loud it was (incredible!)

    2) Groce returning a punt or kickoff for a touchdown (not sure which one it was)

    3) the balloons released into a red/purple sky after the first touchdown

    4) the parties in many of the college neighborhoods after the game, with all the students and alumni hanging out on their porches and talking, celebrating a win on a warm, late summer night

    5) my first tunnel walk... need I say more

My wife turned me, over night, into a Nebraska fan and I have never looked back. I love the tradition of Nebraska football and even though I wasn't a fan during the 1990's, I can honestly say I am just as big a fan as many of the people I meet who were back then. This is MY team, and YOUR team, and YOUR team, and on and on... I have not been back to Memorial Stadium since, but that's only because we had kids pretty quick after getting married and it's hard to travel from Huntington Beach, CA to Lincoln, NE with a 3 year old, a 1 year old, and spend money on tickets for all of us.

Soon though, we will go back... and win or lose, it will be the fourth most amazing experience of my life... outside of my wedding day, the birth of my kids, and my FIRST Husker game. ;-)

  15. I don't think ESPN has rigged this but I do think that the number of votes now is probably so high (and with only two coaches in the running) that even 100 votes won't affect the percentages. We just need to keep voting, en masse, and T.O. will come out the winner. No doubt some Alabama-computer-guru has developed a hacker-like program to continually vote for Bryant over and over... and over... and over. We need the same! But we will do it the right way, with actual votes by people!
