  1. I'm one of the "hating" realists. To those with the rose colored glasses who see no flaws in our team, answer these questions:

    1. How is are defense going to contain a mobile Wisconsin qb when they couldn't do it against Fresno?

    2. How is the defense going to stuff Wisconsin's heralded running game when they've given up over nearly 200 yards+ to lesser quality opponnents?

    3. How will Martinez manage not to get picked against faster defenses when he consistently underthrows his targets and rarely hits a receiver in a stride?

    4. Martinez has fumbled nearly 10+ times already this year. He got most back --but what happens when he's playing a faster defense?

    5. The o-line is inconsistent against weaker teams. What happens when they play a real top 10 team?

    6. Look at all the teams rated behind us in the top 25. Could we beat all of them or are we overrated?

    How about answering this....

    1. Find "one" post from "anybody" that stated NU has no flaws.

    I wait patiently....

You miss the point. I never said that ANYBODY finds NU flawless. What I am saying is that the "rosy glasses crowd" gets their panties all in a wad when anyone posts any legitimate concerns based on the way the team has played.

Many times when a concern like I brought up is asked, the "rosy glasses crowd" will respond with, "Oh, but we're 4-0, what could be so bad?" or "I trust Bo, he'll fix the defense."

or "Martinez is averaging over 200 yards a game and has 7 tds, he's tough to stop."

Keep in mind that it's not always just the win, its also HOW YOU DO IT. The way Nebraska has played so far has made their weaknesses apparent. But it seems like if we want to discuss their weaknesses, and legit concerns going forward, the "rosy glasses crowd" responds with, "oh, go be a fan of another team then."

Guess what-- I DO want us to win, play hard and look good. I enjoy watching this team even though I see its flaws. But if I'm driving down the road with a flat tire, I'm not going to say, "Oh well, the other 3 are fine, so we'll just keep driving until something bad happens!"

  3. Why so much pessimism?? Because our inside run was getting stuffed by an FCS opponent! Because if you contain Martinez, this offense is stopped!! Because Martinez can't pass!! Against a better team, at least 4 of his passes would have been picked off!! Because our offense looks unorganized!!

You're saying NU looked better than Oregon?? Hello?! Put down your crackpipe! Oregon was playing an SEC team, we were playing an FCS team. Oregon would destroy is! Look how fast their offense is. Ours takes forever to develop a play. We had over 10 plays go for negative yardage against an FCS opponent.

So I can't tell but what team do you root for cause obviously Nebraska isn't doing it for ya .

I have been a Nebraska fan for over 30 years. I have sat in that stadium through good and bad, through all the Callahan games and never left early. You don't know me, so don't question my fanhood of this team.

The original poster asked why so many were being pessimistic of this team. I answered his question.

I root for this team through good and bad, but like many fans, I yearn for a dominant team again. I am a realist who can see NU from a critical standpoint. I do have unconditional love for NU, but that doesn't mean I have to be a blind, sunshine shooter.

  5. I do not think that Martinez is cut out to be a quarterback at the Div I level. He lacks the leadership, quick-decision making and poise. His breakaway speed is good, but you can't hang your hat on the big play. Martinez rarely generated any long, sustained drives this year. Most of the offense this season was "smoke and mirrors" due to Martinez's lucky big plays. Once you shut down Martinez's run threat, Nebraska is beat. A real quarterback cannot be one dimensional.

  6. I think we'll know more on Tuesday-- which is when Texas and the rest of their South Division shadows have their regents meetings. I think the Big Ten may be looking to see if the PAC-10 really adds a total of 6 schools. If they do, I think the Big Ten will expand to 14 or 16 teams-- which I think would bring Missouri in.

I am actually hoping that the rest of the Big 12 sticks together and adds 2 schools.

  7. I read that whole thread, and it wasn't totally bad. There are idiots in every fanbase, and there are people who try to straighten the idiots out. In that thread, there were many other mature responses that tried to reason with the idiot posts.

These other schools only have themselves to blame for their inaction. It's unfortunate that something that benefits us so greatly has to harm them.. but change isn't always bad. ISU in the MAC or MWC would be a better fit.

  8. I don't think that the PAC-10 was ever seriously considered. Nebraska is more similar to the other Big 10 schools than the PAC-10 schools. Besides, if the PAC-16 comes to fruition, it may be divided into EAST-WEST Divisions, with the West schools having an advantage in climate and recruiting--a scenario not much different than the Big 12's North-South configuration.
