I wish all the talk about the offense by Frost and the local media would morph over to the defense giving up third and longs and just as many yards as our offense gains, etc.

Every game we've played were winnable (ignore Michigan.. it was merely survivable);  we gained enough yards and scored enough points but the defensive squad is run by American Athletic Conference standards.

Not to mention the well talked about penalties.

Here you go, it’s getting attention.  Dead last in the Big Ten and 77th nationally on allowing third down conversions.

  2. Good on you for taking them to their first Husker game.  That’s a lifelong memory you’re creating !

Hunt down the Fairbury hotdog guy and have them watch “der Wienerschlinger” in action.

Check out the trophies, stand along the street and watch the band march in , get a picture with Herbie and Lil Red, make sure they have a balloon for the first score, buy them a game program..

And have fun !  I know you will !

  3. Memorial Stadium has not lost its “it factor”.  When you’ve attended a big game over the years — Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado , Wisconsin, Iowa it even Miami a few years back — there is a certain charge in the air and the stadium is electric — and you can just feel it in the air, the atmosphere is different and you can just feel the energy.

Now compare those atmospheres to NU vs Mid Directional State U and even the clapping during the fight song is quieter.

Problem is, our psychology and history is geared towards not getting so hyped up for NU vs Northwestern for example, and therefore the stadium isn’t hyped up — less intimidating— and now we see mid- level and lower level teams not effected by the home crowd.

Case in point - Colorado this year— the crowd was rocking and Colorado barely won.  Troy — the crowd was a dud.  No energy .. and the rest is history .

  4. I think that the Michigan player was correct.  After that early interception, you could just see how that deflated Nebraska’s morale.

I also believe the quote because this is the exact same thing that Nebraska players used to say in the 80s-90s after they relentlessly pounded opponents into submission with over 400 shove it in your face rushing yards and a Blackshirt defense with a “meet me at the quarterback” attitude.

Michigan player was right and the truth hurts.

I totally agree....we had a loser's mentality after that first interception.  But part of that is Michigan was fired up and hitting hard and our guys cowered to their strength and confidence.

“After the first series, when we went back out there, we just knew they wanted to give up,” he said. “You could just see it in their eyes. It's not anything I can really put into words (but) you could tell by the way a receiver is running his route, or the way you get blocked or the type of passion they're playing with. We just sensed they didn't have it, so we used it to our advantage.”

    quote from a Michigan defender.

Goodness. At this point I hope Frost WANTS to stay here. I hope Frost doesn't give up hope on Nebraska, not the other way around.

    What ?!

Frost came here to fix it and put Nebraska Football back on top where it belongs.

He’s not going to say ... well..

see ya later .. after an 0-3 start.

  7. When Frost made the comment about buy-in during his post game, I was surprised because my first thought was about how could there possibly be a guy on that roster— after all they’ve been through — that could possibly not buy in to this new staff.

According to Farmer’s comments, it must he happening .

Okay, you're being a tad dramatic right now.

    Yeah , you’re right, I admit it.

But dang it .. poor clock management was such a huge factor in this game.

Live by up-tempo , die by up - tempo.  Not sure why they didn’t run the clock when they could have.  That was the difference .
