  1. I know he didn't really show much in his chances this year but I personally think blake lawrence will be a star for us. Possible not even next year but if he gets to work in the offseason it could be next season. I was really surprised when I saw the film and everything for this kid, Seemed like the type of guy Callahan would normally pass on but that we made a living on in the past.

  2. If there was a thread on Top Option QB's then you wuld probably see him #1, although I loved Hagan, but I digress, Tommy is too one dimensional for the poll, whereas a guy like Vince could run and throw. I also think Tommy was surrounded by an all around great team whereas Vince was the TEAM.

disaggree. Frazier could throw, hell I remember one specifically amazing throw against your buffs. When we "beat" FSU for our first NC (yeah I know) i remember having to throw alot that game. Frazier just never had alot of passing yards because we didn't throw it that much, and he didn't have a lot of stats in general because of the blood clot that year.

  3. IMO if anyone on this team jets early it would be a mistake on their part. I think Marlon has pro potential, at least as a recieving back or multiple use type of athlete, but he just isn't ready and one good year in an offense that utilizes his strengths as a runner better will put his stock through the roof, he'd have a hard time getting drafted very high without an amazing combine, IMO. I doubt many coaches in the NFL want players that admit to not trying hard all the time. Dillard seems like the only one who would potentially leave. I don't think anyone will, I think when the players get to know Pelini they will love him.

  4. if you can put some meat on the guy and keep his speed and if he has some intangible qualities, he has a good frame. I think they are gonna take pretty much anyone from instate that has any potential at all, which i like. could be risky though i guess it was risky taking the guys that weren't seen as risky (ie 4 star guys)

  5. Yeah, it has been a tough day for me. I had booked a number of hotel rooms for different bowl options for Mizzou. One of them being New Orleans of course. Now I have turned that reservation over to my brother who is an Ohio State fan. I think LSU will totally destroy Ohio State just like Florida did last year.

Yeah, I'm afraid Ohio State and Kansas are in for a reality check in their respective bowl games.

I hope so, we would never hear the end of it from Kansas if they beat OU. I think that is unlikely because even though our game was close, we dominated Kansas for the better part of three quarters. We were totally dominated by OU, so I would imagine they will thrash KU. As much as I hate Bob Stoops, he can coach. I hope someone from the north can knock them off next year. Preferably Mizzou, but if not us, then you guys.

man looking at the bcs mizzou totally got screwed over, they are they real travesty here. How can you win your division and then be passed on by the team you BEAT for the BCS slot? How is Mizzou by default not the number 2? IMO that is the problem with the big 12 right now, you can be the number 2 team and not get the number 2 bowl. And to top it off with it being a team you beat just a week ago? Mizzou should be able to file some sort of complaint with someone about that. Seriously, i'll be pullin for kansas but i don't think they will be within 20 points of VT. :bang

  6. i'd been thinking mendenhall at least should be looked at all along. I haven't seen BYU play much, maybe 2 times last couple years, but supposedly he created that blitzhappy 3-3-5 D, could be a good D against spread offenses. I wouldn't rule out that osborne hadn't or isn't going to talk to someone like this, on sports nightly he sounded like he talked to more coaches than we thought. So far we only know about 3 coaches, really. 3 to me is not several, which is the word osborne used, 3 is a few. IMO several is at least 5. I wouldn't be surprised if osborne has talked to a large ammount of coaches, he just may not have interviewed a large ammount, idk.

  7. I am actually surprised with this firing! At least his team was competitive but i guess they have to beat Georgia kind of like how Michigan has to beat Ohio state!

they were mostly competitive because of their defense. I wonder if they will consider just hiring Tenuta to HC? If not if we get someone that isn't Bo Pelini, we'd be smart to bring in Tenuta as a DC.

  8. It could have been a Colorado fan trying to do all he could to help the buffs win and put a bad light on our fan base.

Oh get over yourself. I've heard CU fans accused of some preposterous things in my day, but this is WAY over the top...

Football in Colorado doesn't have that level of fanaticism attached to it, nor will it ever. If you were gearing up to play Oklahoma or LSU, I could see your point being somewhat valid, but that's not something a CU fan would do.

Bad CU fans are known to drink, swear, and occasionally throw things, but they don't threaten the lives of opposing teams' coaches in an attempt to circuitously give Colorado some sort of convoluted advantage in a game that's taking place a month after they make their phone call.

lol, sorry, i should have said that he could have been a fan of some other program or none at all for all we know, just some guy being a jackass and hoping to see his stupidity being recycled in the media. I shouldn't have put any team in there or anything , I guess I was just trying to be somewhat facetious which doesn't translate well in text. I'm not a big fan of Ockham's Razor, but there are ALOT of stupid people in this state, fortunately most of them aren't like this guy and are nice and stupid rather than big fat idiots. I aggree with everyone that hopefully they catch this guy (how can you not?)

  9. this is sad but seriously, for all we know it could have been someone that wasn't even a husker fan. Hell, they might not even live in the state. It could have been a Colorado fan trying to do all he could to help the buffs win and put a bad light on our fan base. Point is that we don't even know anything about it and it definitely doesn't speak for Husker Nation, IMO most other big time programs worse would have happened before this point.

  10. I'm sorry but there is absolutely no reason that even the first season should be marked off as "rebuilding." That's a term for hack coaches to fall back on (like Callahan & Co. did). So more than anything I'd say I want a coach that doesn't give excuses, period, and interestingly, that is exactly the sort of person Pelini is. I'm not saying we should be in title contention, but there is no reason we can't be at least competitive in all our games next year.

  11. I know the media is shut off to players and coaches for the week, but are they going to have the weekly press conference?

According to the rumor I heard there will be a press conference announcing that BC is gone. Would not expect one unless that is happening, since there is no game this week.

    ;):)

The wheels on the rumor bus go round and round...round and round...round and round. The wheels on the rumor bus go round and round alllll day long!

    lol

seriously, at this point the whole thing is getting old. I'm unsure now how many press conferences I've now watched that were supposed to be where they announced callahan stepping down...

  12. Well, that is interesting, at least. It can't be a coincidence that the top 5 there is some of the percieved best college coaches. However, I think the point has been made that there is probably flaw in the recruiting rankings. I mean, the one surprise on there is West Virginia, I mean, really? They've been pretty solid for a few years now, and I know they get some players, they pulled in Noel Devine in last year's class.

  13. I think this would be terrible for our chances to get Pelini. I read in an article that LSU's AD was asked about the rumors regarding Les Miles possibly going to Michigan and he said that they would have a nice banquet for Miles if he left and then say hello to Bo Pelini. So if Miles leaves LSU you have to think Pelini would take that job over the NU job.

That was NOT LSU's AD that said that, it ws a political analyst that happens to be an LSU alum. Personally, I have a hard time seeing LSU hiring Pelini, the last two times they went out and got the percieved hottest head coaches. Maybe they will hire Bill Callahan (LOL!).

    edit-

oops, you beat me to it
