I know you've been fanboy-ing Bryant all over the place, but the OL's complete and utter inability to execute basic techniques like pulling had nothing to do with Bryant being in or not. They could stand there and pass block decently enough - it was Riley & Langsdorf's top priority after all - but that was about it.

Our pass pro under Riley was some of the worst I have ever seen

DiNardo has been hard on us the last few years and he appeared correct. Give that man some Kool Aide.

Want he higher on us last year and low onnus the year before?

This.  Way better than at the restaurant

I always thought the stadium pizza tasted worse.  But then I don’t mind ordering Val’s to go.  Not a fan of the buffet.  Also their spinach pasta is the best thing there.

Yes. Coaching matters. Scheme matters. We do and did have more talent on our team than Troy, and many of the teams we lost to.

Yep.  This is kind of what I was fishing for.  Troy has a staff that has been very successful the past two years, and we have a first year staff trying to right the wrong.  Coaching doesn’t just matter for the team with more stars on their recruiting rank.  People can say we have better talent all they want but we haven’t had much of anything in on the field results.  I see no reason that we should be as confident in this game as so many people in this thread expecting to win by multiple scores.  Personally I expect this to be the toughest non con and probably tougher than some conference games (although our conference schedule is brutal)

Just because some teams lose to these schools doesn't mean we aren't significantly more talented.

If we had played them last year we would have gotten drubbed.  We’re we signicantly more talented?

Part of it is because their four (I think) year starting quarterback who helped upset LSU last year is graduated and gone - they're breaking in a new starter this year like we are.

In all honesty, it's Troy. Nebraska should win that game and by a couple scores. I think many people are aware that anything could happen but the percentages are in our favor.

Honestly I’m kind of tired of people saying things like “it’s troy” when teams like that have been competitive with P5 teams for at least the past decade.  How long is it going to take some of us to realize that there aren’t necessarily gimmes just bc it’s some school that is directional or small or something that isn’t steeped in tradition?

I didn't take Frost's comment as an indication when he is handing out the blackshirts.  I think what he wants is for the defense to play up to the reputation of the blackshirts.  What we have seen lately is a defense awarded the blackshirts, and perhaps mistakenly called the blackshirts but they weren't the blackshirts.  I believe we'll see the blackshirts distributed normally to denote who the starting defensive players are and eventually the defense will play with the pride and intensity of a blackshirt defense.

This reminds me of the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" where someone asked "Does making a man a knight make him a better fighter?"  The correct answer was "yes" because everyone knew how a knight fought which established a standard to meet.  Substitute knight/fighter with blackshirt/player and Frost wants the answer to be "yes".  Except for a couple of Suh lead defenses it's been a long time since we've had a blackshirt defense.  The current players have no idea what being a blackshirt means so today the correct answer is "no".

A knight would be a better fighter because they had armor, a horse, and a big effing sword.

I'd sure hate to lose the freshman Martinez to a blown knee.  He is the future for sure but would be nice if we could bring him along a while.  A man is much stronger at 22, 23 than at 19.  So if he gets a bad injury, or is forced to play instead of heal, he never reaches his full potential.

Dudes body looks way more ready for it than Gebbia.

  9. I voted Martinez but that isn’t solely based on one practice and no knowledge of the details of the offense.  Gebbia really might be better it’s just this is all we have seen.  Either way I hope we don’t redshirt him and he gets some Meaningful snaps

I would have seen Huskers play only once with this attitude. I bought my Skers-Spartans tickets from the MSU athletic dept. The rest of the 100+ games I've attended were with tickets from the secondary market. I got these sweet spring game tickets from a relative that works in the athletic dept. I'm going to enjoy those 3rd party tickets and my 1500 mile round trip from Ann Arbor a helluva lot more than I would enjoy your high ground and watching it on BTN.

I am only talking about spring game tickets.  I just don’t think they should be bought up and resold.

You have to think they promised immediate playing time during his recruitment, and that's why he ended up here.

He confirmed that in an interview.  I believe he said somethinglike “I was supposed to be a three and out,” meaning no redshirt and nfl draft as a junior.

If i remember correctly - TB received that label before he said that

The way I remember it (and is probably wrong) is that Beck had said that TE/FB were obsolete in modern football.  Which is different from the Oregon offense not having a position that is called fullback.

I do remember Oregon having smaller faster tackles, but I think this staff offered a JUCO OT that is like 6-7, 300+ on their first night. That's a huge dude, so HCSF may have evolved the OL a bit since his Oregon days.

I think he had a 350 pounder at UCF also.  So who knows maybe the turn around will be faster but I don’t expect anything

  14. This OL is a mess and likely have been doing S&C that will be different than what this staff wants (don’t know that for sure just remember the Kelly Oregon teams wanting smaller faster Tackles).  If we can say that our OL was average at the end of next season Austin should receive coaching accolades.  More likely another season of s#!tty OL Play.  The good thing is I thinks we have some decent young players it’s just going to take time to develop them

I'm certainly no doctor, but I think our lineman being 45% body fat isn't exactly correct and may be off by a few percentage points.  Anatomically speaking, is 45% body fat even possible?

I’m pretty sure it’s possible lol.  But yeah this seems like a slight exaggeration
