this is one to discuss. I am 50/50 on this.. there are both pros and Cons to this so, IMO to avoid disgruntled fans of both crowds he should just go there as a guest in a suit or something.
it seems odd that penili would coach in the lsu game,,when he now is the head coach at NU... lsu has assiatant coaches there...but on the lsu side of things...they are probably thinking its the right thing to do have penili coach in the game...its just one day out of penilis life, and i believe its in the dead period of recruiting anyhow.

OU, pre-season #1, KU and MU will be top 10 teams, since they have much players back also.
i would be very happy with 8 wins next year...i would consider that a major accomplishment...bit in reality,,,, the huskers might be struggling to have a winning season...hopefully not one like this year.

I believe he said of his offense "We don't take what the defense gives us. We take what we want"
as he stated in the interview....he siad there would be no wholesale changes, but maybe a few new wrinkles...multiple offense is what he desires.. one thing for sure, they need to get a running game..

He also said he's going to let the other coaches coach their own spots. With what he has done in the past I'll let him call the defense and let someone else call the offense and whatnot..
I seriously hope he is directly involved in the d...have a token 'D.C.,' who cares. Pelini's biggest challenge will be offense, and he will need great offensive minds to do this. I'm not too worried about the d.
bo penili is the head coach, not the defense corrinator....he said he will have a heavy hand on the defensive side of the ball,,,what he probably meant is that he wants to installl his type of defense scheme, and will probably hire a defensive corrinator that will pursue penili,s type of defense....
If you think Pelini will not have a direct effect on the d during the game you're thinking crazy. He will not just settle with the 'scheme' that he wants...he will have control over the d, and I'm completely cool with that.
being a head coach,,you have control over whatever element of the game at any given time...i just don,t think he will be calling every defensive play.....the defensive corrinator will be doning that. i may be wrong..but most head coaches are watching the total game from the sidelines..and make adjustments as they see fit..

Thats what it sounds like 2 me i hope he does but i think pplz on this forum is saying that hes not gonna be the head coach ,just becuzz ESPN reports it their saying that its bullsh#t just becuzz they dont name their sourses i mean wtf?? maybe their sourse is T.O. i mean u never knoe it wouldnt be the 1st time a head coach told espn something like that

Holy crap...why don't y'all chill the f out. Sheesh...we been gettin' rumors all day, every day for the past...what...6-8 weeks. Some'll turn out to be true...some won't. Personally, I'm having fun just readin' them. Your all a bunch of liars if you say different. Otherwise...why would you be here reading them?? I especially like knapplc's (sp?)...very creative...had me goin' for a few minutes even. Funny how you're more apt to believe the rumors that you want to be true...
The creative and funny ones have been great. I thought the Salt-Water Aquarium guy was fantastically obscure.
I'm sure glad this board doesn't stoop to the same trashy level the LSU board does.
People really need to chill out. My recollection, right or wrong, is that IBR said that Pederson was out and TO was in as acting AD before anything went public... The Pederson call could have been luck, the TO information couldn't have been coincidence in my opinion. So his source isn't 100% accurate, life sucks sometimes, doesn't it? Until it's announced by TO, it's still possible for plans to change.

Frank's DUI basically slammed the door on him coming back. And I don't think he should.
Maybe, also, his under-performance here opened Tom's eyes.
solich had his stay at nebraska, and you saw what happen,......some have very short memorys

I was wondering if anyone had links to any interviews with Bo Pelini? I'm trying to get a better sense of some of the candidates and I haven't been able to find anything on him.
there is not much info out there,,,,,,everyone has a tight lip. and osborn is off recruiting,,,sometimes i think he allready had made his mind up on someone due to the fact that he,s out recuriting.. hopefully he can bring someone in the at has a solid head coaching experience, and i really don,t like the guys that have been interviewed...but i quess you take the best of what you have availbable, and let the chips fall where they may. turner gill, not a whole lot of head coaching experience..and probably would not be looked at from other schools other than nu. penili might get some looks... i would like to see someone come in that has a track record , and good one...but that is very hard to do , since nu will be looked at as a huge effort to get back online...

I will bet anyone on this board $1000 that NU wins the first game of 2008. I don't know if it will be the Red team or the White team, but definately a NU victory.
It's always good for a new coach to start out with a W.
its going to be a tough year for the huskers,,and i think the huskers probably will not be as bad as this year,,though it will be tough to have a winning season....the new coach and coaching staff he brings will be a big factor too....

i think lucky better get an education first and more experience....i agree with above posts, it would be a big mistake for him to go pro...he would have tough time making it, if at all.

osborn had solich come in as coach,,and look what happen??? i did not trust osborn when he selected him,,, he just did not look like top tier division I coach.

i really think osborn is the middle man,,,that the president of nu will eventually make that decision of keeping or letting callahan go...and the decision is probably allready made, i don,t look for him back...otherwise they would have kept pederson.

quess beig up 52-17,, well... this is football in college, not sensitive high school..., and i really don,t like that every coach has to be careful on runnng up the score..you can run up the score with the second team in there. i agree. running up the score out to thrown out the window... but i really believe most good coaches will substitue early to let others have some playing time....at least i would if i was the chief.

well, nebraska is in the hurts, and the fans are angry... you all think its callahan,s fault, but i have different feelings... it started with solich,, and the downslide started then... if solich would have stayed with nebraska..the program would be in shambles with solich... pedserson, i quess that was his name,,did not seek callahan at first if i remember right,, the people he wanted would not come to nebraska and coach...wasn,t callahan his 3rd choice. also,... osborn will probably bring in one of the assistant coaches that were under him, that is my thinking at the moment... hey,bill parcels is not coaching at the moment??? another thought, go after spurrier at south carolina, or rick neuhisel...

Tom Osborne will forever be called 'Coach'. Just like Bill Clinton will always be called President. You get that title forever.
personally, i would believe callahan would be fired soon after the colorado game,,,if osborns thinks he should go, and i believe he will be fired
recruiting would be greatly hurt if callahan if kept longer, that is why i believe his time is short at nebraska.
when was the last time NEW MEXICO was ranked ahead of nebraska....that is bad.

well, if you listen to the video in the above threads,,it seems like he mind is made up , and nu is the place he is headed..... the video was pretty funny........i was impressed. i went to harlan to school a couple of centurys ago.
