  1. Well he is not from Nebraska. Did you think that he would come in here and act just like Tom or Frankie. I sure didn't .
  2. I heard that Carriker is going to be playing a little bit of DT so that we can get some more speed coming from the inside. Moore is quicker coming from the end so that probally isn't that bad of an idea. As far as Leflore starting this week, it makes me wonder if Nunn has fallen out of flavor with Bill. He didn't do much last week and Leflore has been coming on little by little.
  3. The word on the street doesn't seem to help me out very much right now.
  4. We are not number two in the nation against the run just because of Rudd. Other people are doing their jobs. Maybe Seivers and Bradley are not making a lot of tackles but they are taking up blockers so that Rudd can get to the ball carrier. That is a big part in our defensive scheme. We do not try to get the ball carrier behind the line every play. We try to consume all blockers at the line and then limit what ever gain the running back can get by himself. That is why we do not give up many big runs. It is a team game and our defense is one of the best at playing as a team. Don't give us to much credit yet. Have you looked at the teams we have played? Have you looked at the running backs we have played? Can you even name one of them? Every offense we have played and every team hasn't been a running team. That is why we are doing so well against the run. If we shut down peterson, sproles, brad smith, etc rushing then we have something. We may not have shut down a big name back yet, but we have done a great job against the people that we have played. Hell two years ago, we turned everyone that we played against into a big name back (Johnson, Bell, Wallace). This year, we are shutting down the backs that everyone knows that we should. Do not down grade this defense because their opponents suck. I wouldn't compare those backs to the one's we faced or the teams we have faced. Also, then we had craig bohl. We also had better linebackers back then compared to what you call a weak group right now. My point is, our defense plays as a team and has done a great job, compared to when we had really good athletes two years ago and sucked it up.
  5. I don't know how many pro coaches will want to mess around with him. There are probally a few that would take the gamble. But young teams will probally shy away from him so that they don't have the distraction in the club house. There's alot worse freaks in the nfl now then richie. Richie will be a priest compared to some. I don't know if you have watched training camps but they have fights all the time and it really isn't a huge deal. Also, did you watch 60 mintues the other day with bill parcells? He said he's had players throw their jersey in his face, and others one's take swings at him. They stayed on the team and said it wasn't a big deal. Nfl is different compared to college. Of course, there are a lot more fights in training camp. There is no way that Richie is going to be a saint when he is in there though. Pro football is a lot about politics, I don't think that Richie will get drafted or at least not very high, so he will have to go out there and flat out beat every other lineman that is there, and even then, he is not a shoe in. He is going to have to be one mean S.O.B. and that means that he will probally be getting in to quite a few fights.
  6. Im not saying that we should rush two or three every time, we are going to have to mix it up and confuse their quarterback. Remember, Wali had a pick against Pitt when we only rushed two. Tech, has a first year quarterback too, I think with enough different looks and schemes, we might be able to rattle him a little bit, and the blitz will have to be part of it.
  7. Did they announce the time of the game?
  8. Yeah it did look like that. Is it just me or can you tell callahan isn't from nebraska and doesn't bleed Nebraska. When Osborne or Solich would lose a game, they would be very down and upset. On there show the next day you could really tell that. Callahan after a lose or playing crappy is laughing and all this and that. I dunno, I'm not sold on him at all. Eh, I don't know. He is a different kinda guy. We are very used to Nebraska guys here. Osbourne never did show much emotion. That kinda stuff doesn't really get to me. After the way the game went Saturday, I would have been happy we won too. As a fan, as a coach, and as a player, I don't know how you could be happy about that ku game. Win or not. Like everyone said last year. It's not if you won or if you lost it's how solich was winning and losing. Well the same applies with callahan right. Solich was at the helm or part of the program at Nebraska for many many years. Callahan has been there for 4 games. How can you hold them to the same light? I am not happy about the performance, I said I was happy we WON. There is no "Quality of Win" variable in the big 12 so a W is still a W. I agree that a W is a W. But we cannot continue to play this way on offense and expect the same result.

  10. I don't think that we will get blown out by 30. They may have an explosive offense, but their defense suxs. It is going to go strength on strength vs. weakness vs. weakness. I don't see our defense folding 30 points to them. Our offense is going to put up some big time yards against a sh**ty defense and I think that it maybe be the highest scoring game for our offense this year. It's hard for me to say that our offense will put up big numbers against anyone at this point. I don't see us being able to stop them on defense because we can't get a rush unless we blitz and it's hard to blitz when they got 5 wr's to cover. I don't think that we have to get pressure on him all the time. Remember Tech throws a lot of short patterns. Our best defense against that might be to only rush two or three and get guys with their hands up and knock down a few passes or pick a few of those short passes off. Cosgrove is a good defensive cordinator, I think that after watching the Oklahoma game. He might have a few tricks up his sleeve.

  12. richie What a surprise. A coach doesn't want a trouble maker.

  15. I would think he will be back. I'm 80% sure he'll be back. It's hard to tell with these coaches though. they act like they are going to play and then they don't play. Thanks for the update. I hope that he is back, cuz we will need him.
  16. It's very possible. I think we will make one just barely. I hope we make one but just alil part of me would like to see steve pederson if we did not. I don't think that it will end. Our defense is too good for that to happen. All we need is three more wins and we should get two against Iowa State and Baylor. That leaves one more to get. I think that our defense could win a game by themselves. We may not have played a good offense yet but we have dominated the teams that we have played.
  17. I don't think that Mike Grant was the worst quarterback. I think that Lord would have to be one of the worst. He may of had a bunch of yards but he was a horrible passer and never pitched the ball. Your crazy. Lord was a great player. Probably the best runner we have ever had at qb. He wasn't a good passer but neither was frazier. Lord threw a very good deep ball. If you think about it he was the only weapon on offense until late last year when ross evolved. He didn't have no ahman, or no great pipeline. He was considered a great runner cuz of all the yards he had. If he would of pitched the ball on the option play a few times then he wouldn't have as many yards. He could not throw the ball for sh#t. He would get lucky on the deep ball every now and then, which would improve his stats, but he couldn't hit a guy running a simple square out or square in. Plus, on any passing down, he would look at his primary reciever and if he didn't throw it to him, then he would pull the ball down and run for his life (rushing stats inflated). The coaches knew he couldn't throw the ball and thats why if we ever had a 3rd and long last year the only play that we called was the quarterback draw. I can't believe that you would put him as the greatest of all time. sh#t, Frazier was 10 times the quarterback that Lord every wanted to be. Crouch was better than Lord, Gill was better, Berringer was better. I could go on and on but Lord isn't even worth my typing.
  18. For offense I would say Joe Dailey. I know that it is a new offense but he just can't throw 11 interceptions in four games. If he could take care of the ball we would be 4-0 right now. Defensively- I don't know if I can find a disappointment. They are playing great as a team. If I had to pick one, then I would probally go with LeKevin Smith. He did a great job last year in a crowd line, and this year he just isn't putting the numbers up or being a factor.
  19. Thats pretty funny. Where did you see that at?
  20. Its too early to call it in the bag but there is a good chance he will be a cornhusker next year. He will be a good pickup.

Well that kind of suxs, but remember Grixby didn't play very much last year and he is contributing a lot already this year.

  24. What is his status right now. Is he close to 75%. We are going to need him to play a major role with some of our up coming games.
  25. I'm not a big fan of the screen passes. They seem to be pretty scouted out since thats all we do is throw 3 yard passes anyways. Id rather do a quick swing pass to him. I think that we could use the screen a little bit more this year. Green Bay uses it quite a bit with Ahman, and I think that we could use this a little bit more. We scored against Kansas with it, and I think if we could get a few more variation of it, then teams won't be so quick to blitz on us.
