  1. It would be nice if the next coach would change the pace of the game. Get up and down the floor by pushing the ball or pressing after a made basket. It might help recruit if kids can see that they can get some stats in our offense. I know, we all want team players that are for the team instead of their own stats, but lets be honest, kids still care about their stats and where they fit into the offense. No one wants to come here to average four points a game.

  2. It is easier said than done, to schedule a top tier team. These games are a two way street. Each team has to agree to the game. Why would Alabama want to schedule us? They live in the SEC where they do not have to schedule a tough non-conference game all the time and people still think their schedule is tough. At this point in time, we are not going to find many big time schools, that will want to come to Nebraska and play this year.

  4. Did he get a scholarship offer, or is this a preferred walk-on? I watched one of his games this year. The kid has a strong arm. But I was under the impression that he wanted to play baseball and not football at the next level. What changed? Or is he doing both?

  5. How cool would this be. This could happen. If hes was willing to go to ASU, you think distance wouldnt be a factor....wonder if hes thinking about playing with Peat.

    Potentially 4 OL though?

The talent that these four young men possess, I think it is a no brainer to take all four offensive lineman. Especially over a plan C or D tight end. Or five or sixth choice DB just to get another person at the position.

  6. I say, we go after an assistant at a big time basketball school. Wojohowski (sp) from Duke comes to mind. A big time assistant would be used to recruiting the best players in the country, plus have plenty of knowledge from being around great head coaches. What about Danny Manning from Kansas. What kind of a price tag would we have to throw at him to have him leave Kansas and come build our program?

Manning will never leave KS and I've always maintained an assistant at Duke (or other school like that) would rather stay for another year or two and then get a GOOD job as opposed to leaving for Nebraska. The only chance we got is to hire someone as we bring in the new arena, which is why Tom needs to make a decision quickly. This literally is, in my opinion, Nebraska's only chance for probably 60 years until they build new facilities again, to bring in a decent coach.

What kind of "GOOD JOBS" are out there that come open every year. The jobs that are available are more than likely because the coach has just been fired because the program is not producing wins. I agree, that there are a lot more favorable positions than Nebraska basketball coach, but some assistants might think this is the perfect spot to start his head coaching career. Most coaches are not going to start here, thinking this is the first and "ONLY" job that they will take. But more than likely use this as a stepping stone kind of job.

I am not just looking at the Duke assistants, but any assistant from the likes of North Carolina, Michigan State, Ohio State, Kentucky, etc. It even seems that former players from these programs are getting into coaching. If we could get a young assistant and a couple former players as assistants, that would greatly approve our chances in the recruiting world.

I admit, I am no professional on how to build a basketball program. It just pains me to see our program struggle year after year.

  8. If Shoff was as good as his measurables claim then he would have more schools than just Iowa knocking down his door. We aren't dumb... there's a reason other schools aren't jumping on board either. If we were stupid then it would reflect in his offer list.

His injury has a great deal to do with the amount of offers that he has received. I think he is well worth the gamble especially since we only have 11 kids committed to this class.

  9. With us missing on a couple of recruits, it seems. I think Shoff would be the perfect player to offer a scholarship too. He might not play a position of need (DB), but we can never have enough quality offensive lineman.

  10. Am I the only one that thinks Mike Shoff is a throw back to the 90s lineman that we use to recruit. Big, in-state talent that we can redshirt and sit on the bench when is a freshman. And then let him see the field in his third year (soph) and have him get playing time as a junior and senior.

  11. I've seen Davante Bourque in person, and he's a stud. Only reason he left LSU is because they have 4 other tailbacks who will be ahead of him on the depth chart, and I know he wants to be able to play right away... that's probably the same reason why he won't choose NU.

If I was a running back recruit, I would look at the amount of carries that our three freshman had this year, and would not personally be scared about being buried on the depth chart. I would see it, as after Burkhead, they really don't have a number two back ready to carry the load.

  12. Good lord some of you people are delusional. I gave up on giving you the facts. Clearly you don't watch the games and see there is some real problems with the flow of this offense. Footwork, pocket presence, timing, and throwing motion apparently don't mean sh#t to most of you. Then the guy is supposed to be able to run for days until uh oh? Every defense we play has figured out that that's all he can do and now what happens from here on out? Do you Taylor supporters ever watch any other football teams? There are other programs around the country that have 2nd and 3rd string QB's that blow the doors off of Taylor.....do you not watch any other football than Nebraska? Have you watched option football for so long that you forgot what passing game is supposed to look like?

If you support Taylor just because he is the current QB, I get that, but don't pretend for a second that Brion Carnes doesn't blow his doors off in every single category except the fact that Brion has no experience in real games. These coaches obviously don't want to give Brion a real shot at taking this f'ing' job....you know why? Cuz' Bo has such a hard on for Taylor it's not even funny. He defends the kid every time someone even mentions his name. If Brion was given a chance, you would see what a dual threat QB is really supposed to look like and you will all forget TM even existed.

I just ask one question of you Martinez supporters since you are clearly lost in a world where fundamental quarterback skills don't matter........when someone finally replaces Martinez and shows you what this offense is truly capable of will you have the balls to admit you were blind to see that the team is lacking a true leader, a vocal leader and a QB that can execute the offense?

If the next quarterback has all those skills that you are alluding that TM does not have (I'm not saying he has them). It is not going to matter much if the line does not block, and the receivers do not catch the ball. Every single player on our team, has much to improve on. (Even Rex). Basically, what I am trying to say is our whole offense needs to get better for the team to reach our (the fans) goals.
