  1. All three of those sounds like some pretty good ideas. Even if we use a different linebacker to go to the front four, just one that has a knack for rushing the passer from an end position. I also look for Bo to get even more creative with his pass rush ideas. Last year, he had the luxury of just rushing four a lot of times due to having the greatest college football player as a DT. I think we will see a lot of stunts and even some zone blitzing next year as well.

  2. yeah, Green has that quarterback "hunch." i dont see him posing much threat on a slide block to a d end, let alone sacking up and taking on a DIV 1 linebacker to clear the second level.

i can only really see Prince returning kicks maybe. theres a reason guys that good at defending the pass are on that side of the field. catching religiously isnt their bag. he'll make out of body plays, sure, but that doesnt always translate into turn and catch ball so easily. those guys are circus freaks. his kingdom is the unscripted, like the return you seen against oklahoma. leave them where they are to make the impossible happen on interceptions. not on 3rd and 5.

Paul is a physical specimen. Sure. But if you really watch him, he doesnt exactly impose his will on defenders. Especially 100% of the time. If youre a linebacker at that level, you better have it in your head that you can knock anyone out on the field. I dont see that from him. Youre thinking Hines Ward. Paul isnt even close.

You need to remember that although they may not be perfect at the new position from day one, they would probably get some practice time before thrown right into a game at their new position. I, myself, would love to see Prince try at wideout.

  3. I actually like the idea to run it a few plays with a running back or a speed guy going in motion to get the defense flowing one way at the snap of the ball. That way we can either give it to the motion man on a fly sweep or the person that takes the snap can fake the handoff and run up the middle where ever there is a hole or suppose to be a hole.

  4. Any offense can work with the right personel, but I don't think we have a quarterback or a coordinator that feels comfortable with letting any of our quarterbacks make plays. I would prefer an offense where we are very balanced. We can throw the ball for 200-300 yards if need be or we can run the ball for 200-300 a game if need be. I don't really care if we get those yards out of the pistol, spread, triple option, or WCO. As long as we move the ball and score points.

  5. I dont think they really do officials for that do they? I think that some kids from that area might show up but I dont think they do officials for away games even if it is a neutral site, but I could be wrong.

Thats what I always thought, but last night during the Tech/Baylor game. They said that Baylor had 100 recruits there. However, they did not say they were official recruits.

  6. I think that the style of linebacker will change a little bit. With the spread, we are going to need fast and quick linebackers that can play in space and run with recievers and running backs. But they also need to be physical enough to step up into the line and take on a lineman or running back in the back field.

  7. I know this would be tough to do, because of all the coaching changes that happen and how offenses change year to year. But I would like a way to schedule teams that run different offenses and kind of prepare us for what we might see in the Big 12. Play one team that runs a spread, play one teams that likes to run, and then play one team that runs a pro set.

  8. I know it's horrible to say, but most kids who are recruited to play Divison 1 football don't want to get their degree.

I think that is the most incorrect statement that I have ever read on this board. I consider "most" to mean an overwhelming majority. However, even if you wanted "most" to mean over 50%. I still think you are wrong. I don't have any stats to back it up, but I just think you are wrong on this statement.

  9. Questions! Does redshirting hurt recruiting some? I mean do recruits, who generally like to think that they are ready to contribute right away, shy away from a school that redshirts most players, for other schools that have a history of playing kids as true freshman?

  10. Dudes..... one would think my homeboy, Nate Swift, would be gold in Denver, cause they have been waiting for another Ed McCaffery. Seriously the guy has to make the roster.

I would of liked Nate's chances better in Denver if they still had Cutler. He was a quarterback that could of made his recievers look better than they were. I do not see Orton being able to make Swift looking better than he really is. that is just my opinon though.

then maybe they need to can Orton and get a real qb?

I am all for that, but I personally don't care for Denver except for the former skers on the team.

  11. But when Joe had 1 team offer a 3 day try out and Chase had 4 teams offer signing bonuses and 2 year contracts, that says a little something. Both had tape, both had pro days, both had workouts. Only 1 got offers.

You essentially echoed my thoughts on this matter...

A player who receives a contract will, in about 99% of the cases, make the roster, at least until fall camp, over a player who has no contract-even if the non-contracted player is slightly better.

It sucks for Ganz but that's the idiocy of the NFL.

It is a lot about politics too for the football teams. The front office does not want to look bad by cutting a guy they gave a contract to over a guy that was just an invitie to the workout. Same goes for draft picks, the higher the draft pick the better chance that they will stay for longer than a lower draft pick, even if they are equal or of the lower one is better.

  13. As for the athletes not getting money issue, my tears dry pretty quickly. In addition to getting a free education (most of which would ordinarily be out of state tuition rates for the scholly guys), there's the board that's paid for, the meals at the training table, top medical attention the entire time you're with the team. On top of that you're a walking talking deity in Lincoln, NE, and you're in prime position to make your case as to why you should be playing on Sundays in the NFL. The opportunities afforded you simply for being a Husker are worth their weight in gold. And you're telling me that some pixel image (which 99% of the time is blocked by a helmet) constitutes a likeness? Please.

Couldn't the argument be made that you should not be paid a salary or an hourly wage because of all the extra benefits that you get with your job. Free meals at the cafeteria, free health care, 401K, Paid vacation, sick leave, plus free training at your job. I don't blame Sam at all for this. I am the same way at my job, when there is extra money that I am making for the store, I want to make sure I am getting my fair share of what is coming in, and this is no different from what Sam is sueing the NCAA and EA Sports for.

Do you give your wages back when the month doesnt go as well, or if the company loses money? you cant have it both ways. It is my opinion that if thats your way of thinking, you should give back your pay if you under perform, lose clients/customers, profit goes down, your late to work so on and so on..

By your way of thinking Sam owes the University back for his free schooling, free board and free meals. He way under performed and didnt live up to his "wage".

I am strickly commission at my job, it I don't sell, I make NO money.

This really wasn't my point, I just get tired of hearing that these kids should not get paid anything because of the argument that they get all the little extra things from the university.

  15. Daniel will get cut.

    Ganz will get cut.

It's horrible to say, but I don't see either of them making it.

I doubt they will both be cut..

I don't see either one beating out Brennan for a the third quarterback position. Unless one of them shows that they can be groomed as a potential starter. Teams usually pick a third quarterback and stick with them for a few years, not get a new one every year.
