  1. I completely agree that Joe had a great game and we would be even further down without his efforts. The only things that I see with him is he is a senior who threw three of the exact same interceptions in three different games. I hope he cleans that up as well as the dumbass penelties the rest of the team has racked up. I see good things coming yet this season.

  2. According to Ganz he doesn't agree with him and said that "he was not out there playing, we were, and we played horrible." But I do agree that having a coach that takes responsibility makes the players have respect for him and in result will do anything for him.

  3. I think that 8 is a reasonable # of wins it could very easily be less I can see that. I personally like newearthhuskers prediction hopefully in the future that will happen. I really really do not believe that Bo and his staff would let them roll over. I see them improving every week IMO. I really can't wait to see what they do against this awesome big 12 competition. I hope for the best but am prepared for the worst.

  4. I think that Bo will accept nothing less than 110% every down, no matter what the play is. Anything less than that would be unacceptable not only to Bo but the rest of the staff as well. Not to mention Dr. Tom. I do think though that if we are unable to break into the back field with a straight up deffense in the first three games, we will be in for another long season. All in all they will play with all the intensity and emotion that they are being taught in every game no matter what the outcome may be. jmo

  5. I really can't figure out why people don't think that our defense will be improved this year. I know that we can't expect miracles but I didn't expect that in 2003 either. Do people really think that the NU defense won't be any better this year than last? I was thinking that it will be a good game just for that very reason. We will be able hold them to a few less scores (I hope anyway) and we know that our offense is able to score. I think that it will be a really good game.IMO

  6. I read that article a while back, but had to read it again. It gives me goose bumps when I read it. I would say that is the best story of dedication that I have ever heard. I hope it turns out well for him. Could you imagine the publicity he would get if he would end up being a starter? Either way he has my respect. It takes a lot to do what he has done.

  7. I was kind of wondering why there was no talk of him this year. I thought that he needed to have more playing time last year imo. Not to take anything away from Lucky or Helu though they are both good backs. I was saying last year that Castille kind of reminded me of Lawrence Philips, but without the dumbass mistakes I hope. I think that we will have an outstanding backfield this with those three in the mix, and hopefully for the next few years.

  8. Signed.

I guess the backup backup plan worked and he did get a Nebraska scholarship. :)

    Good to hear.

Also seems he and his father have been checking out the message boards and saw how we all liked his hitting, just another reminder to watch what you say about these young men because yes they do read them, and even though it's some guy on the internet it does have an affect on them and it isn't always positive like it was this time.

    :yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah:yeah

I was reading the posts about a decommitt and if he were reconsidering coming back and read those post it would have convinced him NOT to come back!

    Nuff said!

For the most part everyone on this board seem to be pretty good sports about the recruiting process, but yes I agree it is the slim few that always seem to ruin the fun in anything. Like I said though this board is definately better than some of them. Really getting anxious to see these young men play. Should be exciting in the next few years and many more I hope.

  9. :rollin

Thompkins has signed his LOI with Miami according to Rivals!

    LOI

Word is that Miami jumped the gun and that he has NOT faxed in his LOI to Miami according to his HS football coach.

It would be nice if he changes his mind and becomes N, but if he doesn't he doesn't. Although I don't care who you are that is funny. :rollin

  10. I hope this crap doesn't start up again so that the Callahan recruited against us rumors don't come back.

I'm not trying to "start rumors". I was simply pointing out what he was quoted as saying in the Columbia paper. Hard to say what (the quote) really means, but it definitely is worth discussing.

As I stated, I have no ill will for this 18 year old kid. He deserves as much success as the next person. That said, I will root my arse off, that he gets knocked on his, when our boys play them.

I agree. That's what I thought I read also, that Gabbert was the one that said this in his interview.

  11. Yeah, there's a story about him on scout.

To paraphrase, he got to talk to Pelini, Osborne, and Cotton. Each of them basically said the same thing. Whether you're a full scholarship player or a walk on, you're going to get treated the same.

In my opinion, this is the start of our comeback, with that mentality. It will breed an intensity from the very first practice, and I suspect we'll get a story somewhere along the line about a walk on taking a spot that would have gone to a scholarship player. If that happens, you can believe the fire will really burn at practices, and will convert to the field.

Here's to hoping our own Nebraska boy becomes a starter someday.

Exactly!! And this is why we need the walk-on program. Very well put.

  12. Nebraska Linebacker Granted Medical Redshirt

LINCOLN (AP) - Nebraska middle linebacker Corey McKeon was granted a medical redshirt by the NCAA Monday, after not participating in the majority of Nebraska's 2007 games. As a result of the ruling, McKeon has been granted one extra year of eligibility, meaning he will be able to return to the field for the 2008 season.

Under NCAA regulations, a player may be granted a medical hardship waiver if he or she does not participate in more than 20 percent of the team's games, with all participation occuring during the first half of the season.

Nebraska athletic department officials reviewed game film and determined that McKeon did not actually participate in any of Nebraska's final ten games of the 2007 season,

"Participate is defined as 'taking part in something,'" explained Nebraska Director Of Football Operations Jeff Jamrog. "We contended, and the NCAA agreed, that Corey didn't really take part in the final ten games."

NCAA Vice President Gary McIntosh declined to comment, other than saying "That game film speaks for itself."

This is very very wrong but really funny at the same time :rollin
  13. I agree that swift probably isn't the fastest or the most athletic, but he does have very good hands and runs great routes. You can't only rely on the big play makers either though Swift plays with alot of heart and determination and that got him to where he is now IMO. Niles, Henry, and paul yes I believe that we need them to make the big plays that Purify did for us, but we also always need a backup man also and it seems to me that that is what Swift and Peterson were. Meaning that the only way to get the big plays are to have people like Swift in as a threat for not the catch and run but more for the sure catch, he had very few drops that I can remember.

  14. I think that with some good coaching and fire Lucky can be a great back better than the #'s that Cy has provided (thanx by the way). I really do hope though that the coaches spend a great deal with Castille though. IMO I think that he is capable of being a back like Philips, but lets hope he has a better head on his shoulders. I think that another year will help Lucky to be a great back, but I also think that it will be done with shared time with Castille. Hope I didn't contradict my previous post to much. LOL

  15. Lucky in my humble opinion will never make it in the NFL. He does not appear strong enough or tough enough at this point. he would benefit from another year at NE.

I really don't think this is entirely accurate. He has most of the tools that you need to be an explosive back. He has strength, speed, and good hands, but the biggest thing in my oppinion is that he is lacking vision at times he was a stand out running back, but when there was only a (seam) to hit he just couldn't quite get there. I do think that he will go pro after this season but I agree that I think that it would be a mistake if he left this year just MO! I do have to afree with Cy though his blocking was definately something to be desired at times....well okay most of the time but I think that some GOOD coaching could smooth out the wrinkles.

  16. LSU fans sound like they would like to get rid of Bo. To tell you the truth I don't know if I would really want him hear again unless it would be for the DC position. I really don't think that he would move again for that. Has anyone heard anything about Chris Peterson or Will Muschamp? I heard talk about it from someone that I really don't know if it is reliable.
