Ohio State is the place for me! I tried all the other beds, but this one is just right! Coach Urban Meyer is such a stand up guy and gave me the best deal....I mean the best chance to get a good education and play some football. - Darius Slade

I just want you all to know that I totally called this. My god, I must be psychic!

  2. A number of people are still unimpressed with our class.

A number of other people are responding, "Forget the ranking - look at the offer lists."

So let's do that. Below, I have compiled a list of the teams that finished last season in the Top 25, minus UCF and Louisville, and with the addition of a few power programs that had tough years, such as Georgia, Michigan, Florida and Texas. Next to the team name, I put the number of our commits that that team had offered and recruited. That means for each number you see, we beat that respective school that many times.

These numbers are not cumulative - that is, if Bama and Wisconsin both offered a kid, then two separate tally marks will show up. It's just to show how many of our players are also being offered and pursued by other top programs:

Team | No. of our commits they recruited

    Florida State | 2

    Auburn | 2

    Michigan State | 3

    South Carolina | 2

    Missouri | 6

    Oklahoma | 2

    Alabama | 3

    Clemson | 2

    Oregon | 2

    Stanford | 0

    Ohio State | 2

    Baylor | 4

    LSU | 4

    UCLA | 3

    Oklahoma State | 1

    Texas A&M | 2

    USC | 2

    Notre Dame | 0

    Arizona State | 4

    WIsconsin | 3

    Georgia | 2

    Michigan | 2

    Florida | 0

    Miami | 0

    Texas | 2

Make of it what you will.

I think it would be interesting to see what this list looks like when you take off a few guys. Chances are guys like Newell, Gates, and Foster account for a large number of those offers.

Take the bottom 18 (about 2/3) of our class, throw out the top and see what that looks like. Ultimately I think this recruiting cycle did a great job of addressing our Lines (especially O-Line) with great recruits and is top heavy. The bottom of our class, however, isn't as impressive from an offer list standpoint.

We took a fairly decently sized class this year. With how hard it is to recruit to Nebraska in general, we had some slots open that we could afford to take chances on some projects or athletes that might take a little time to figure out where they are going to fit in. Let's not forget we recruited SJB as a receiver, Amukamara as an RB, Cody Glenn as an RB, Jamal Turner as a QB, etc etc. As long as we are taking guys that are athletic, we can find a spot for them to shine. So yeah, we might have some two stars/three star guys that weren't heavily recruited or hyped up, but looking at their film, they are athletes and potential game changers if we can get them into the right position. You also have to figure in their work ethic, attitude and ability to stay out of trouble. Can't coach that.

Per HuskerOnline and HuskersIllustrated, McClain plans/wants to sign w/ NU, but discussing w/ family. Some worry from parents about distance

It's your life kid. I understand how much parents do for kids and mean to kids, but now you are going to be a man. You gotta make the best choice for you. Distance works itself out, but picking a place you won't be happy won't.

Unless of course it's the parents that insist on there kid going to Nebraska while they want to go somewhere else, then it's "Parents know best." Got it.

Bro, take your common sense and logic some where else. It has no place here.

Also, as an Air Force man, he knows how to handle disasters and adversity, like when his A/C goes out. :funnyhahah

Oh take potshots at the coach because he's an air force grad, which is so important. You go, you badass you.

If you're being sarcastic, it's not coming through. If you're serious, the laughing face clearly makes it a joke. Well, if it wasn't true about the A/C, then it'd be a joke.

    Whoosh

As an Army guy, there is a "good-natured rivalry" between the different Military branches. I was making a well known joke in the military about how "easy" the Air Force guys have it. Nothing to see here except some good natured ribbing. The image at the bottom is the unit I was in. It's all good, people.

  5. Don't forget Blair. His coach thinks its 50/50. if McClain commits it may rip the scales our way.

    Visiting Mizzou this weekend.

Ya i know, that's just what his coach said. His coach loves Nebraska, apparently played against us in the 90s. Do he's got alot of respect for our program. Could grab 3 from him.

Nice, even if we don't grab 3 this year it sounds like a pipeline we should keep close.

I'd prefer to keep the pipeline open lol

  6. Sounds like he nearly committed to Warren during his in-home visit but Warren told him to wait, think it over and come look things over first. Love that about this staff. He should be :bigredn: by Saturday.

Wow! Does Bo run a recruiting with character clinic for all incoming staff?! Great to hear Warren has already developed the right philosophy.

I think he just goes after the right men. This is a career Air-Force guy we're talking about, after all. Even if his moral compass doesn't point straight north, he knows how to follow orders and be disciplined.

Also, as an Air Force man, he knows how to handle disasters and adversity, like when his A/C goes out. :funnyhahah

  7. Ladies ladies, you're all pretty. Settle down. We're talking about someone who, regardless of his leadership ability, throwing ability, running ability or whatever, put his body on the line for us for FOUR YEARS. I was in the Army for 4 years, did 4 deployments (airborne infantry, not some FOBbit) and was less injured than he was, if anyone is looking for some perspective. Dude played hurt and gave it his all, whatever it was, for his team, for his coaches, for us and for himself.

You can disagree on his abilities all you want, but respect the sacrifice and effort he put in FOR A GAME TO ENTERTAIN US. He's not a hero, he's not a champion, but he has balls and he has given us four years of his life and much more than that of his body for us. Was he the best quarterback ever? No. But look at the team and coaching he had around him. Different OC's, lines and offensive gameplanning. For better or for worse, he gave it his all. Let's thank him for what he did for us, wish him the best of luck in the NFL and move on. We're better than this. At least, I hope we are.

  8. I really like his film. Great ability to read the play and get to the ball. Dude loves getting TD's, he's a ballhawk. Anyone else notice the John 3:16 Bible reference at the beginning of the highlight reel? Get Ron Brown and Coach Warren to talk to this kid. I think they could lock him down for us.

  9. I think we're all being realistic in our chances of Mr. Harrison actually seeing the field as a Cornhusker. IF he does decide to go the MLB route instead of playing for us, I hope we all give him the same respect and best wishes that we gave to Bubba. If he goes pro, it'll obviously be disappointing, but I wouldn't be able to blame him. Nothing in life is certain and a cool million dollars or so could set someone up for life if properly invested. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that we all hope to see Monte play for us, but I hope he makes the right decision for himself.
