  1. The Texas A&M love is getting out of control. They were unable to beat CU and got raped by K-State with that same offense a year ago.

Far too much credit is being given to them for putting up some big numbers in a rivalry game where they always play out of their arses.

This same logic would suggest Colorado should be ranked in the top 25 because they played the Huskers tight last season.

  2. I wasn't aware Ciante Evans was one of TCU's top 2 targets. It definitely means something when Gary Patterson & Dick Bumpas want you that badly. Hope we can capitalize on such a talent.

Quite frankly, I think it's a bigger deal if Bo Pelini wants you on his defense.

  3. 1. Texas

    2. Kansas State - Sorry folks, but they WILL be better in Snyder's second season and Manhattan will be rocking on a Thursday night.

    3. AtM - Aggies will be better in year three, similar to Callahan's year 3 IMO

    4. Okie Light - still have some talent, but will be rebuilding

    5. Mizzou

    6. CU - game is always tough, no brainer

    7. at ISU

    8. KU

    9. at Washington - sorry people, but no team with a Pro Style offense and a crappy defense is going to beat NU

    10. Idaho

    11. WKU

    12. SDSU

  4. Major had to leave NU for some undisclosed reasons. He transfered to ACU, a powerhoues DII program in Texas and has thrived as a safety here. I talked to him the other day at school and he said that he was doing much better here, but gushed about Nebraska's program. He loved it there. And I feel under Pelini's system he could have shined. Too bad he was there with Callahan. He said that he has a shot at the NFL... scouts have been contacting him. He is the second safety to transfer from Nebraska to ACU... Daniel Manning was another who is now a started for the Chicago Bears.

Daniel Manning was a Husker? Wow. Did not know that.

Manning was going to be a Husker, but couldn't qualify. He would've been in the same backfield with Fabian Washington and the Bullocks twins.

  5. I would. <_<

I guess I don't understand the question? Like what?

If the Missouri River was the Atlantic, I would love to go to the beach, heck all the time. Would I miss a Husker game to go to the beach? Not at all.

If the Sand Hills were the Rockies, and we could ski there, would I ski there a lot? Sure. But I could probably coordinate a trip to Mt. Thedford for January - March, heck, even Christmas time. Why would I have to miss a game.

I live in Kansas City. I love the Royals. Would I miss a Husker home game, for a Royals game? Uhmmm... maybe if Hell froze over and the Royals were in the playoffs....Lol.

Honestly, all things have to relative. If Omaha had 2 million inhabitants and an NFL team, the Huskers would still sell out. No doubt in my mind.

I would think at this point we could use that spot to fill a different position.

I would like to see us build more experience at QB this year. I really got the feeling this year of the blind leading the blind at QB. Of course having Ganz running around will help for sure.

Honestly, I would like to see us sign 2 QB's each season. If we ever want to be an elite team, we need ELITE play at the QB position. I think its safe to say we did not receive that level of play this season.

I also believe teams don't need 5-Star QB's to receive Elite production from that position. That's pretty well documented.

The gravitation towards more athletic QB's gives us some flexibility as well. Barry Switzer used to recruit 5 QBs per season with the sole intention of moving a couple of guys to other positions.

I find it hard to believe that with 6 or maybe 7 QB's on the roster, we can't find a true winner, leader, and playmaker.

2 QB recruits per year means we'll have 8 quarterbacks on the team. What do we do with those other 7 QB's who aren't starting? There would be some pretty PO'ed players, and I think it would be hard to draw recruits knowing they have to compete with 7 other people for the starting role.

Competition man. Seriously. You will have attrition everywhere, but cream rises to the top.

  8. I think if the Ohio State job ever opened up we could lose him. Otherwise, I don't see him leaving. Secondly, if he starts winning conference titles and we're competing for National Titles, I'm sure NU will pay him accordingly.

Honestly, I'm happy NU isn't paying people more than they're worth.... aka KU, Mizzou, Texas Tech

  9. they were already out there for something else.

predictionking, did you grow up in nebraska? i cant understand how a husker fan wouldnt think this is cool. its making the best of it, good old nebraska ingenuity if ive ever seen it. chance of a lifetime for those kids.

Born and raised in the Sandhills my friend. I will concur its great for the kids, but it's a poor solution for poor planning by the University. Everyone in Middle America knew a blizzard was coming more than a week out. The School should've had back up plans in place to overcome this issue.

Giving these high schoolers a chance is definitely a cool thing for them. But the University severely dropped the ball on this issue.

I know this is a silly hypothetical, but play along:

Let's say NU is playing in the Rose Bowl for the BCS Title game next week. ALl things being hypothetically relative, a blizzard hits Nebraska this upcoming weekend, does NU not send a band to the National Title game?

Perhaps I should've clarified. I'm happy for those kids, but I'm disapointed in the University's lack of planning. I think it's a poor reflection of the University of Nebraska and one of the most storied College football programs in America.

Would Texas let the Austin Lake Travis Band play for them? Is Tuscaloosa Central going to play for Alabama? Would Ann Arbor High be playing Hail to the Victor?

    This is deeply depressing IMO.

  10. I usually spend a lot of time on opponent message boards prior to Husker Game day, and I can assure you the Arizona fans are some of the most delusional fans I've ever read.

There is nothing wrong with thinking your team should win. I don't mind that at all, but they seem to be going overboard in their attempt to paint our defense as anything but dominant.

A lot of them seem to think Arizona will have the best offense we have seen all season, while the Husker defense will be only the 3rd best unit the Cats have seen all year behind Iowa and Arizona State.

Some of them have even tried to argue Nebraska's D-line will only be middle of the pack compared to some the D-lines they've faced this season.

YOu can believe your team has a shot to win without dissing your opponent. It is possible to accurately predict a victory without having to trash and opponents strength in order to somehow justify your ability to win the game.

  11. Okay people, the term Nubs as it pertains to Nebraska is the way most Nebraskans pronunciate Nebraska as in Nub-ras-ka. Hence the shortened word Nubs as in plural for Nubraskans.

    :yeah

    that is my understanding

Here's the real question that I've asked many of my MU/KU/KSU buddies and co-workers down here in KC:

"Do you really think it's an insulting moniker?"

I have never once felt offended by the term NUB. Most times, I'm just puzzled by the meaning.

  12. I also think Kyle Vandenbosch at least needs an honorable mention, along with Zac Taylor.

Was Vandenbosch a senior in 2000? If so, then that's a no brainer. Move Carriker inside with Suh, and watch Kelsey and Vandenbosch rush the passer. God, a lot of NFL teams could win right now with that rotation.

  13. QB - Crouch

    RB - Ross

    WR - Swift

    WR - Purify

    TE - Wistrom

    OL - Volk

    OL - Fonoti

    OL - Raiola

    OL - Hochstein

    OL - Incognito

    PK - Henery

    DE - Carriker

    DT - Suh

    DT - Slechta

    DE - Kelsey

    LB - Williams

    LB - Ruud

    LB - Polk

    DB - Craver

    DB - J. Bullocks

    DB - D. Bullocks

    DB - Groce

    P - Koch

    I assume you mean Barrett?

Wow, this is fun, but honestly any poster leaving Stewart Bradley off their list has failed.

    QB- Crouch

    RB- Ross

    RB- Bjax

    WR- Swift

    WR- Purify

    TE- Herian (Pre-Injury)

    OT- Carl Nicks

    OG- Slauson

    C-Raiola

    OG- Fonoti

    OT- Hochstein

Give me the 2009 defense, it was the best we've ever had. This defense was on the field almost 20 more plays per game than any other great Husker defense.

  14. From what Sipple said on USC, Jason Ankrah will start next year and has been practicing with the 1's for awhile... And If I remember right Pierre Allen is only a Junior. So I would say Cam will have the same role as this year.

That's assuming Allen beats Meredith for the starting gig. I wouldn't bet the farm on that. Allen was a starter and earned these stats:

    Tackles - 16 solo/47 asst

    TFL - 10/35 yds

    Sacks - 3/23 yards

    PBU - 5

    QBH - 8

    FF - 0

    FB REC - 0/0 yards

Here's Meredith's line, starting zero games and coming in for spot duty:

    Tackles - 13 solo/21 asst

    TFL - 5/18 yards

    Sacks - 1.5/12 yards

    PBU - 1

    QBH - 2

    FF - 0

    FB REC - 1/4 yards

Some of these stats may be situational, and I know Meredith got into a couple (or all three) of the Sun Belt games late, but the bottom line is, Allen's stats aren't blowing Meredith's away to such an extent that he should be comfortable in his starter's role heading into next season.

Meredith's motor seems to rev higher than Allen's, and I'd love to see what he can do with a starting role.

For what it's worth, Pierre Allen plays the run about as well as any DE you will find at this level.

  15. There may be a thread and maybe I missed it but.....

The kick out of bounds, you know, the one that had a greater effect on the game than the officials-

was he coached to try and squib it or did he just miss it?

I feel you brother. He just missed it. Adi Kunalic, arguably one of top two or three kick off specialists in college football kicked the ball out of bounds for only the second time in his Nebraska career. The kicker, whom ranks in the top 5 nationally for touchbacks, who has one of the strongest legs in college football, just flat out shanked his most important kick ever.

IMO, that kick is very similar to the Nunn fumble against Texas in 2006. If Kunalic kicks the ball the same way he has 107 other times in his career, Texas likely starts that drive inside their own 25, and NU wins the game easily.

Truly mindboggling, and far more upsetting than "Clock-Gate" IMO.
